We booked ski school for 8 kids aged 9-16 with varying levels of ability. We usually book lessons with ESF however they were not nearly as accomodating as New Generation. Bea so helpful offering us group lessons and accomdating our start day of Sunday with the 4 hour lessons working out as great value compared to what ESF offered for 2. My youngest is a type one diabetic and Carla was amazing with her, letting me know what her levels were when their was no reception and letting me know she didn't mind me texting, that it was normal. She also sent us lovely photos of the kids that she took during the lesson. Chris took some fab videos and ensured the girls had a brilliant week and made great progress and Luka even managed to organise an Avalanche rescue so the girls could achieve their gold star badge. All in all it was a brilliant experience and we will look to book with New Generation on all further trips. They also were also so understanding when we booked Vallandry by mistake and moved it Peisey for us.

We were hugely disappointed by the…

We were hugely disappointed by the private Ski lessons provided by New Generation Ski and Snowboard School.
The teacher was more of a ‘ski guide’ than teacher and neither of us improved in our ski skills during our 6 hours of private tuition. Although the instructor was pleasant & polite and had good language skills he offered little in the way of instruction. He was silent or on a different ski lift as we ascended the mountain offering no instruction to my partner (lifting skis onto the bar, how to hold poles etc, what to expect on alighting the lift). I don’t think he understood what it is like to be a complete beginner. We were both keen to improve but also apprehensive. We are both sporty people so fitness wasn’t going to be an issue but developing our skills, confidence and understanding was. The instructor wasn’t able to differentiate the teaching to accommodate two different experience levels. Had we have paid for just one person to attend the lessons, this would have been understandable but that wasn’t the case. We did outline our ski experience on booking. The instructor didn’t actually watch how we were skiing. He had his back to us most of the time and just asked us to follow. I would have expected him to teach my partner how to slide slip during the 6 hours of tuition that we booked. The only skill he taught was how to snow plough. He did take us on a variety of routes which was appreciated as La Plagne has a massive piste. Also lessons finished early. I know it’s difficult to time when you get back to the finish point, but when you arrive 10 minutes before the end of the lesson I would expect the time to be used on the nursery slope or with teaching advice. This amounted to half an hour of time over the three days.
I am very disappointed, as when I’ve had group lessons before my skills definitely improved so I was expecting at least as much from individual lessons. I appreciate that new teachers have to learn but not at the expense of paying customers. I would have been satisfied if I had paid for a ski guide, but not a teacher…..
