The bidding process was good

The bidding process was good. I got a great price, but after reading reviews of the place I had won my bid on, I was wondering what I could do if I got to the place and it was deplorable- could I cancel? I did not get a quick response back, and my deadline to cancel the trip itself had passed.

Thankfully, the room we stayed at was clean, and had a great view. I would hate to think what would have happened if it had not turned out that way. Lesson learned- read the reviews of the place you want to stay at before placing a bid.

Great Value in vacation certificates

Great Value in vacation certificates. I had a problem with booking the wrong dates but customer service came through for me. Got a super deal at a really nice condo in Orlando for my family vacation. Only suggestion I have is that sometimes the terms of the auctions are difficult to understand. Love the site and have recommended to others.

A winning combination.

This was my first time using Skyauction and i would have to say the process was exceptionally easy to bid and we were more than pleased with our resort. My only problem was that we had to wait a few days to receive the confirmation of the bid and we had to book flights which each day the flight prices were going up. I am definitely recommending Skyauction and i will definitely be using Skyauction for my next vacation.

Very poor Customer Service!

I bid and won an auction for a condo resort in Branson, Missouri in August, 2018, and requested a reservation for the third week in March, 2019. I received confirmation from Sky Auction of these dates but never received a confirmation from the resort. I hassled with the Resort for three weeks before my arrival was scheduled, who said they never received a reservation for me and never heard of Sky Auction. They refused to honor Sky Auction’s confirmation. In the meantime, I tried three times to contact Sky Auction through their customer service email as they no longer have a telephone number to call. Though their website states that all emails would be answered within 72 hours, none of my emails were ever answered! I finally ended up reserving at another resort three days before my family’s arrival at a considerably higher cost. When I returned home, I filed a dispute with my credit card company who refunded me the cost that Sky Auction had billed me originally. This took much time and expense for me as well. I was really angry with Sky Auction for this poor service. I have had many successful purchases with them over the past 20+ years but will no longer use their site for my travel needs. Their new business model is definitely not customer friendly👎👎.

Hi Suzanne,
There was never any issue with your confirmation. Since these rooms are part of a block sold in bulk to us names are not sent to the resort until within 72 hours of arrival. The hotel has no access to these names and can't reconfirm. You received your confirmation by email without issue and the room was indeed available under your name based on your arrival date. Our phone number is 212-486-1250 and is available for use between 10am and 5pm Monday thru Friday EST. I am checking with our customer service staff on the disposition of your emails and why they wouldn't have been responded to in a timely fashion which is very unusual.

I am sorry that even though you had a confirmation you felt somehow this reservation was not being held for you. We sell thousands of these stays every month, without issue or problem.

Travel Certificate Web Site very difficult to use

We have been long time purchasers and users of a Travel Certificates offered by Sky Auction. Since the change in the booking website, we find it very difficult to view available units and try to book weeks to use. Often, weeks come up as available but when you try to book, they are on “Hold” and never seem to come off hold. So you can never get a unit and waste money on purchasing the certificates. Seems like a bit of a scam to me. Take the money for purchasing the certificates, but you cannot get dates (even though they show as available) because they have an indefinite hold on them. We once waited almost a month for a hold to be released and it never did come off hold. The system is very bad and did not improve with the new website, as you advertise that it did. We will NOT be purchasing any more certificates until you get the kinks worked out with this one.

Think twice before using Sky Auction

I tried to book my trip that I paid for and was told I had only purchased one night when obviously I had purchased 5. Horrible customer service. Had used Sky Auction in the past with no issues. Would never use again, takes more than a day to get a response each time you email. It cost me $400 to change my airfare by the time I finally was able to book. Horrible is the only word that comes to mind.

Make sure to examine every detail.

I bought a cruise deal on SkyAuction. It seemed pretty straight-forward. I paid the fee and got an email that gave me my reservation details. It had my name on it with a room assignment. It said to call the cruise company. When I did, they had no idea what I was talking about. They said that my name was not attached to that room. I had to repeatedly EMAIL SkyAuction, because there was no way to contact them for help by phone. It took quite a while for anyone to respond. When they did, they said that everything was OK. It was not. It took 9 days for them to get my name on that room. I had to fly to San Juan to take the cruise and needed to book a flight. It was very stressful. When they finally did get my name on it, they still had the second person from the old reservation listed as going. I had to write AGAIN to get her taken off the reservation. If you do get a vacation deal from Sky Auction be very careful to follow up on EVERY detail. Sometimes they make BIG mistakes. And, in addition, they did nothing for me to make up for THEIR big mistake.

Hi Cynthia,
We are sorry for the inconvenience you experienced due to the operational communication problems experienced by NCL during this last minute promotion. We are happy that at the end of it all you were accommodated and we hope you had a wonderful cruise. As far as compensation for this situation we show that you paid appx $400 total for a 10 night sailing out of Puerto Rico which was an incredible deal considering market price was many thousands of dollars more. The travel business requires many people to work in consort with each other to assure the flawless confirmation of customer and while we strive to never have problem, it is a very human business where mistakes can happen particularly on last minute programs like this one. We understand the risks, but we feel providing this kind of extreme value for our customers is worth it at the end of the day. We can't offer compensation for something where you received what you purchased and saved several thousands of dollars in the process, even if the process wasn't altogether seamless.
