I love the *idea* of the sleeper

I love the *idea* of the sleeper, for its green credentials, potential to maximise time at your destination and the romance of it, but even the standard cabins can be unaffordable, especially as the first/last leg of a longer trip, and the seats are not comfortable enough to get good quality rest; they don't recline enough. Maybe OK for the youngsters? Luggage space is good though!

The sleeper is great, Internet non existent

The sleeper is great, staff super helpful and friendly, a service I love. However with modern Internet available everywhere now even at 20,000 ft in the sky, the completely useless service on the Caledonian is really not good enough. I have friends who now fly just because the internet service is so poor. Lets hope senior management are listening, the technology is available and for not a huge capital outlay - the rest of the world is now providing it, surely the Caledonian can too!

Unique experience

Unique experience

The Calendonian sleeper is a unique experience, and I'm glad that it exists and that I was able to try it. We really enjoyed the room - the beds were quite comfortable. The food was convenient (we had breakfast delivered to the room), but was middling.

One thing I did not expect was that the trip is relatively short. In fact, we arrive in London at 6am, 45 minutes early. Per schedule, we were permitted to remain on the train until 7:15am, but I missed having a few minutes to look out the window while it was daylight.

Travel on 3th June Inverness- London

Just very, very good.
Nice Staff, right from the beginning in the Caledonian Lounge at Inverness, the Staff at the Reception on the platform 2 at the station Inverness and on the train, in the Club coach. Everthing was clean and propper in the sleeping coach !
I am going to travel again with Slepper Scot.

Excellent service from the team

Excellent service from the team
Greg and his fellow team member were very polite, helpful and supportive. Went out of their way to help when my granddaughter’s suitcase broke. Did everything they could ensure we got off the train safely and had somewhere to leave the case contents while we went buy a new one. Could t thank them enough

Overall a good experience

Friendly staff on the train and in the departure lounge. Good comms leading up to travelling. Train ran on time. Comfortable and clean beds. Overall a good experience. Given the small room size, could signal luggage options better.

Sleeper, shower cold, breakfast rubbish

We booked Caladonian Club double. In London okay. Also the start
But when we want to take a shower there was only cold water. We forgot to ask what the reason was. Stupid. Suggestion: make an attention in the compartiment, what to do. We orders breakfast but how to notice on the form was a little difficult. The breakfast was for continental okay but for british real RUBBISH! Again we did not complain. So train good, service and facilitis can better

Poor service. No WiFi and rubbish bin anywhere

The WiFi connection didn’t work, it was terrible and the toilet constantly was out of toilet roll. I couldn’t find a bin, one of your staff even suggested I throw my rubbish in the bin in the toilet, thankfully I bought some food from the kitchen and put my rubbish in the bag. I definitely was disappointed. I guess if your chairs could recline a bit more and some inflatable neck pillows would have been a better experience.

Disappointed

I travelled on the Caledonian Sleeper from Scotland to London on 3 June in a Classic Room, and the experience fell far short of what I’d expect from a premium overnight service.

I want to start by saying that the onboard hosts were lovely, friendly and professional throughout the journey. They were polite and did their best to help passengers, and my criticism is directed at the service and facilities rather than the staff themselves.

The biggest issue was the complete failure of basic facilities. Water pressure dropped significantly during the night and by the morning there was effectively no running water at all. I understand that water storage on sleeper trains is limited and that onboard supplies need to be managed carefully. However, there is still a reasonable expectation that the basin remains usable for basic washing and hygiene needs throughout the journey.

When I raised the issue, I was told that having little or no water available in the morning was to be expected. Frankly, I found that response quite absurd. If passengers are expected to have no usable water when they wake up, it calls into question the purpose of providing a basin in the room in the first place. A private basin is advertised as part of the accommodation, and it should be functional for basic use throughout the journey.

To make matters worse, the WC in the coach also went out of order during the journey. Combined with the lack of water, this meant having to leave the cabin and queue for toilets in other coaches especially in the morning. That is not what passengers are paying for when they book a sleeper train. At that point, much of the convenience and comfort that justifies the premium fare disappears.

The catering offering was also disappointing. Vegetarian options were extremely limited, and the Club Car menu and ordering process felt unnecessarily confusing.

Finally, the train itself felt dated. The ride was noticeably rough, with frequent jolts and jerking throughout the night. As a result, sleep was repeatedly interrupted, which fundamentally defeats the purpose of travelling on a sleeper service.

The reality is that the core elements of the product, sleeping, washing and using onboard facilities, did not work as expected. While the hosts were excellent, good staff cannot compensate for failing facilities. Given the price paid, the experience did not represent good value, and I would seriously consider using an LNER service instead in future.
