Not to repeat

We stayed in Villa ARIELLE. Good location. Walking distance to the pool. The lady which give us the keys was very nice and also gave us the cellphone number in case there was any questions. Unfortunately the cleaning wasn’t really good. I had to clean the microwave, especially the buttons, and the stove by myself. It was greasy.
Inside of the door where the rubbish is, nothing was cleaned. There was still some dry rest of residues of food from the previous guests.
These are places I expect to be clean. The floor wasn’t properly cleaned either. Cleaning is one thing but this was only passed with the mop. We could see the stripes.
The washbasin in one of the bathrooms was very dangerous. It wasn't attached to the piece of furniture. When I held on to it because I lost my balance, it tipped forwards.
All in all it’s not an experience we will repeat.

Casa Laurence - very disappointing

The property Casa Laurence was very disappointing, and not as described in the listing. We made a complaint to Smartavillas but did not receive a reply. The property is very small and basic, the 'king size bed' listed is in fact two very uncomfortable singles, there are issues with the bathroom drains which cause a terrible smell, made worse by the fact that the bathroom is directly adjoining the kitchen area. Outside there is a nice courtyard, but this is shared with the owner who lives next door, and the laundry is also shared. At the front is a building site with water and sewage pipes being installed, and everything is covered in dust. Very noisy and busy street outside the bedroom window.

Great Experience

I booked an apartment in Tavira through booking.com that was managed by Smartavillas. I’m always a bit nervous about what sort of service you’ll get from management companies, but I have to say I can wholeheartedly recommend Smartavillas. From the point of booking through to my departure, communication has been excellent. Everything went smoothly, questions dealt with quickly. Within the property there was also great information pack and I was pleased to see a focus on being environmentally friendly. Top team

We were totally supported with the Smartavillas team

We were totally supported with Professional people behind us like Rachel, Lydia and the 'Reservas team' of Svitlana and Ana. All our queries were answered and any issues resolved - here's one, we managed to lock ourselves out of our villa and a call to Lydia resulted in a Locksmith being out to us within 15 minutes, to get us straight back in!

Absolutely brilliant family holiday in…

Absolutely brilliant family holiday in beautiful Travira. Accommodation was absolutely spotless and very comfortable.
We were greeted by a lovely friendly woman called, I think, Rachel. She was so full of information and answered all our quesions about the area. Her recommendations really helped us to have a fantastic holiday. We will definitely book again with Smartavillas. Thanks again Rachel, I hope I got your name right!

Bad customer service

The villa we had rented for a few days in Santa Barbara had an ant problem for multiple days. Also it takes now more than three weeks to get a jacket back that was forgotten at the villa.

I believe this is a very unfair review. Renting a Country house, there could be ants! this is not an indication of our service. The left jacket will be returned. Guest left the jacket, not us! We committed to sending and we will - at our cost, not the guest!!! And all this comes from the guests who left us with a broken parasol, and used equipment for the BBQ designed for the fireplace which is now ruined. Unlike the guest, I did not leave him a pooR review. Im just paying for the return of the package and the broken equipment SO How is that bad service? Rachel Robinson, Director Smartavillas.

Communication Issues

Communication with customers could be improved

Having paid the final balance, several emails were sent requesting details of how keys to the chosen property would be handed over on arrival, but there was no response. With only three days to go before boarding a flight to Portugal, the issue was resolved with a phone call to Smartavillas office. However, I don't think customers should really be having to chase up this information at such a late stage.

Having returned to the UK, I can say that the accommodation proved to be perfect. No complaints whatsoever.

Its our policy to send the address, driving directions and other useful information on booking, which we did. These also explain that its quite simple to arrive at our properties by giving us a call on the supplied number.
