Charming Escape ..... I think not

I was given a Charming Escape gift that was supposed to give access to 290 different stays. When we tried to redeem it, none of the hotels/glampsites that were listed in the advertising were available or required a huge surcharge. Actually there were very few places that didn't require a surcharge at all except motorway motels.
The helpdesk people at Smartbox made a few pitiful attempts to solve the problem, but they blamed a change of computer system.
We finally ended up with a hotel in Shrewbury that was very tired.
Won't be using Smartbox/Buyagift again.

Hotels no longer participate...

I bought my brother and his wife a Smartbox for Xmas 2019 for an 'Overnight stay along with a delightful dinner for 2 people' for just over £100. They couldn't use it last year for obvious reasons, but now whenever they try and book the hotel is no longer part of this scheme.... This is so frustrating!

Afternoon Tea with Bubbles Falcondale Hotel Wales

Had our Afternoon Tea with Bubbles yesterday. Dreadful food. Venues need to be monitored. Asked for vegan options and got shop bought cakes and biscuits. Tiny wrap sandwiches and no explanation as to what was on them. Went to The Falcondale Hotel in Lampeter Wales. We had 2 vouchers so in total £99.98 got £20 ( if that) worth of food and drink. They state that they make all cakes, biscuits in their kitchen. We were told that they had bought the cakes in. Asked specifically for no egg mayonnaise sandwiches on the vegetarian option but got one.
Absolute rip off. Won’t be recommending.

Be careful of expiry dates!

I was given the afternoon tea experience as a gift, it has two years until expiry, I thought like the gyms they would of taken covid into account and halted and automatically extended the dates since restaurants were and still are closed, but no!!! they had no thought of doing this and therefore my voucher has now expired, how an earth did they expect me and others to use a afternoon tea voucher with everything shut, they as a business should do better and take into account these times we are living in!!! They’re Expecting people to extend themselves online when they could do it for every single voucher purchased due to covid! I can imagine so many people are now going to be in the same situation as myself!!

Restaurant vouchers fraudulant

I bought the burger and beer voucher for 2 people at a cost of €29.00. The restaurant advised this was only for 1 burger and 1 beer. As the voucher states this is for 2 people I contacted Smartbox who told me that the 1 burger and 1 beer should be shared between 2 people. Firstly this is a ridiculous expectation that they expect 2 people to sip from the same drink and share 1 burger, most restaurants wouldn't allow this anyway. Secondly the burger and beer cost €14.00 pp and this voucher cost me €29.00 so double the cost of the one meal. It makes no sense and it is absolute fraud. I emailed and rang Smartbox who were adamant it was only one burger and beer but why is the cost so high and why does it say for 2 people? It makes no sense. I am furious. I have used Smartbox multiple times over the years but after this experience i will never use Smartbox again.

I got a 2 night charming getaway for my…

I got a 2 night charming getaway for my birthday and unfortunately when you look through the booklet with lots of places to stay. Not one was for the price of the voucher, they all had an extra cost. so it’s cost over £100 to use the voucher to stay anywhere. It’s very misleading. I can’t tell my friend, because she would be devastated that I’ve had to pay for my our birthday present.

Hello

Hello. How can I call customer service if the phone number given is disconnected and email is returned. The family member who purchased this did so in good faith and again....the card says This gift card has no expiration!!!! And it was indeed purchased for use in the United States!!!! It is called Charming Getaways Great Lakes version. I can send photos of front and back of box which clearly shows only the United States. I would appreciate a correct email address for customer service.

Voucher number not recognised

Was bought a smart box gift December 2019 which should have a 2 year expiry and due to Covid I’ve not had chance to book anything this year. I went to input voucher details on the site and it said it hadn’t been recognised I’m not best pleased and hope my brother hasn’t wasted £129 on this gift.

Easy buying process

Was given this as a present

Was given this as a present. Very disappointed the websight is not easy you pick a date then wait for a reply to confirm this can take 24 hours. I have been trying to book a hotel my 6th different date. Surely it should only come up with dates that are available like booking.com. I have waisted so much time and still not booked anything. Already told my daughter don’t buy me another one and I won’t be recommending this as a gift for anyone. Great idea but rubbish system. So now I wait to see if I have to try for a seventh time

Disappointed Smartbox Recipient…

We received a present of a Smartbox voucher. However when we went to book a property we have not so far been successful. On the booking form you are asked to insert your desired dates and a list of available properties comes up. You select one, and then have to wait 24 hours for a reply. So far we have had 3 refusals, the reason given is that the properties are not available on the dates we have requested. I think only those properties that have availability on the required dates should be displayed. It would save the person trying to book a lot of time and effort.

We appreciate your suggestion but most of our partner have an on-request booking system. It means that you send a booking request and according to the partner's availability, you receive either a booking confirmation or a rejection within 24 hours.
Since the majority of the hotels have this kind of reservation system, it is not possible to show the partners with the direct booking system only.

Fantastic all round service

Fantastic all round service, always. The customer service is superb. I always buy gifts from here as genuinely its made so easy and are flexible. I have ordered an age restricted present by accident before and I rang up and was able to get a refund without fuss.
Also with covid, I have 2 vouchers which I have been able to extend without any issue.
I would highly recommend this company & will continue to use them 👍🏻
