This is a great product. I recommend however that you change the plastic clips for metal ones. Since installing the gate, I have replaced all of the clips twice. I have a large dog and a couple of cats. The gate stands up to the dog charging it without problem, however the plastic clips eventually fail and break.

Love this product! Keeps my adventurous toddler contained better than anything in the world.

This seemed like THE solution to keep our dog out of parts of the house where he gets into trouble when we are gone. Unfortunately the mounts are way wider than our 70's era door mouldings, and there's no stud next to it to attach the gate hardware. So disappointing to spend that much money on what seemed like the perfect solution, only to find it's unusable for our needs :( My husband is a builder, so he can usually solve any kind of problem like this, so when even he said no-go it was really a bummer. Money totally wasted.

Great customer service. I have a tricky installation that they help me figure out and drew a diagram on the pictures I provided. I have gone threw a couple of other pet and baby gates and these are by far the best and highest quality. Worth every penny.

The retractagate was very easy to install at the top of our outside deck. It fit perfectly as well. Excellent quality materials! You have to be careful to retract the mesh, however, as if it goes in crooked, there will be a crease in the mesh.

I love this gate! It is perfect for my odd stare case and easy to install on my own. I would highly recommend it!

We love our Retract-a-Gate! Stepping over baby gates (for years!) isn't my favorite. I love that once the baby is in bed we don't have to deal with a permanent barrier. It works really well, looks nice in our living room area, and was definitely worth the price!

The gate was easy to install and is great at keeping our baby away from the stairs. We really like the fact that when we don't need it we can retract it and we don't have to mess with it unlike fixed gates that are always in the way. I also love that it's made here in the USA. A great company employing wonderful people. Thank You.

This is the perfect gate for us at the top of the stairs. When not it use it is out of the way and the simple clean design looks like it belongs as part of the house. It is out of the way and not even noticeable. When in use it is very easy to open and close and again it looks very clean a natural part of the house, not an add on piece of equipment. The construction is very good and will last a very long time. Well worth the price.

The retract a gate has been fabulous. It has kept our puppy out of the lounge in our otherwise open plan house. Quick and easy to use relatively discreet and means we get the best of both worlds. I would highly recommend it.

Needed more spacers so perhaps a bit more guidance would be helpful there but not worth getting hung up on - even then, they arrived within a few days.

Very happy with our Smart Retract gate. Easy to operate and lock to secure. It has been in situ in a busy holiday home for a few weeks now where wheelchair users need easy ingress and egress, but babies and pets need to be kept safe. A small problem was quickly and promptly responded to by the company. I will happily purchase again when the more traditional gates need replacement.

We purchased two retract a gates to help keep the new twin grandchildren safe on our stairs in our split level home. They work great. The 4 grandchildren, now include the 18 month old twins, a 3 year old and a 5 year old. All of them love to "play" with the retract a gates. The 3 year old managed to break one of the clips that catch the gates when closed. I ordered two replacements on their website. They contacted me, asked for a picture of the broken catch, refunded my order immediately and sent the replacement parts right out, as they are guaranteed. I didn't know that when I purchased originally. Most Companies would just leave it. They made it right. I think they went above and beyond!

Excellent quality and works perfectly in our home with our 20 month old grandson. We have 4 gates, one at the top of each staircase, and one at the bottom. Easy to pull in and out and they are out of the way when the grandson is not here. The instructions are good, but we do suggest you read them through several times before you begin. But once you have successfully installed one, the others are easy. It does take time, though, so give it your undivided attention as you work through each step. These are certainly the best gates we have found (and we have tried several), a bit pricey, but well worth the money!

After reading all instructions on the site about fit, I determined that we would need two spacer kits along with the gate. My husband didn't read the pre-sale instructions and decided to try without the spacers first. The gate didn't close properly so I was really glad to have the spacers available for a relatively quick fix. Gate works quite well to keep our baby safe, despite family members' doubt about a retractable system at the top of the stairs. We will recommend to others!
