Oh my goodness where to start- in a nutshell, with this company anyone, if they have access to your microchip number can initiate a transfer and take legal ownership of your dog. I emailed the company as soon as I was notified of a transfer and even though I disputed it, 7 days later the ownership was transferred. I now can’t let my dog off the lead as if she was to run away or be stolen, no one would ever know she was my dog as my contact details are not on the chip! I have emailed Bree 8 times to try and stop this happening but it still has and the phone number is absolutely useless, you get stuck in an automated loop. Chocolate teapot comes to mind. I’ve now paid £20 today to try and get my details transferred back onto the chip, feels like a huge con.

If you’re with this company and can transfer your details to another reliable database, do so!

Anyone who gets hold of your pet's microchip number can take ownership of your pet by registering a new name/email. The current owner will not be notified. I could not believe my eyes

Bought puppy already microchipped but told I needed to register ownership. Company wanted another £19.95 to 'register' my ownership. Site was impossible to navigate, the emergency phone line is on a loop, alternative button going to Smartbreed which clearly wants nothing to do with Smarttrace ("We're a separate company altogether") and no-one responds to emails. This organisation is somewhere between a rip-off and total scam. Will now try to get vet to remove microchip and get another because there's no way this company would deliver if a pet were lost or stolen.

There had been an issue with my account but Diane was excellent and help resolve the issue very quickly. She replied to all my emails in good time and was very efficient.
I feel very confident if I needed assistance in the future I'd receive excellent customer service again.

Absolute mess about... Never even thought of asking the breeder we bought our puppy from where the microchip was from. Worst experience!

Paid the fee of 19.99 promised a puppy pack which never arrived .no response to any email at all .not at all convinced if my dog goes missing that it will be traced.the only reason I transferred the details was because it was already chipped .but if I had read all the negative reviews I would have had it chipped again with a more reliable company probably the best thing to do anyway

I totally agree with many of the previous negative reviews. I have a discount code but nowhere to put it and can’t seem to get anything regarding the puppy pack. I didn’t pay anything for my last puppy with a different company.

Not straight forward to transfer micro chip into my account

Just registered my puppy with Smarttrace. When the Trustpilot window opened it offered me a discount if I wrote a review, which I did. I was then charged the full amount.

I registered my puppy with smarttrace but there had been a mix up when we bought her and she didn't have the microchip I registered her with. I payed £19.95 so I could change details anytime but it seems these details don't include microchip number and to change that I would have to pay another £19.95. I have emailed smarttrace on numerous occasions but they don't reply. I really don't know where all these good reviews come from as the app is terrible to use. My puppy is now registered will MYPET at a cost of £1.95 and I can change details anytime, the site is 1000% better than smarttrace at a fraction of the cost.

Very disappointed with the service from this company my dogs chip has been in ‘transfer’ for days now I have emailed and still no response and no phone number to call. Also they ask you to give them a 5* review before you’ve even experienced the service just to get 10% off what an absolute con! I did not do this but still paid £20 for the privilege of being ignored! Awful service so far and very worrying if my dog ever goes missing.

How disappointed....they happily take your money but DO NOT respond in regards to supplying puppy pack that has been promised. Really worried if my little one goes missing that there will be no assistance of any kind.....what a rip off!
