We started working with smartworking about 1 year ago when we needed to scale up our development team quickly. Honestly wasn't sure what to expect but they've been great.
The developers they sent us actually knew their stuff - not just resume fluff. They got stuck into our codebase pretty fast and didn't need constant hand-holding. That made a real difference because we were under pressure to deliver.
What I appreciated most was that their team actually listens. When we said the first candidate wasn't quite the right fit, they didn't get defensive - they just found us someone better. That kind of flexibility is rare.Overall, they've made our lives easier. We got good people who do good work, and we didn't have to waste weeks interviewing dozens of candidates. That's basically what we needed.

After an interview, I was asked to complete a design task. Unfortunately, there was no response to my emails or questions regarding the task, and no feedback provided. Being completely ignored after dedicating time and effort resulted in a very poor candidate experience.

Our business had been for some time been trying to fill a Senior Dev-Ops Software Developer role using our traditional UK sources, without success. Our goal was to find someone who would fit perfectly into our team, to deliver high value to our customers, and that’s what we got, a highly recommended service.

Smart Working have built a team of 6 developers for us. While they are remote from our office they are fully integrated into our business and with Smart Working’s support in the background we see this as a long term solution to the challenge of finding the right software talent. All members of the team got up to speed quickly and we are very happy with the quality of their work. They work as normal members of our team (same hours, managed by us, in permanent communication). We will continue to use Smart Working as we grow further.

For a company recruiting their first overseas team member you need to be sensitive to both cultural differences (subtle differences in required management style) and significant time zone differences; SmartWorking continue to be in regular contact with us and our recruit to ensure feedback is collected and passed both ways.

Ritesh was a productive team member within just a few days and brings fantastic new knowledge and experience into the team. We are happily investing in training for him, as we would the rest of our team, because we see him as a long-term asset to our business.
