The reason for the low score is honestly and integrity issues from the company owner. After chasing up my paperwork for three days with multiple unanswered calls and text (which was promised to me in full and much sooner), he failed to deliver ontime and in full. This work was for a rental property, and I had explained the urgency at the time because I needed to get a new tenant (a heavily pregnant female also with a young child) in as soon as possible. Part of the agreed work was to test all gas appliances and fit new smoke alarms.
He failed to fit the smoke alarms, which I was invoiced for and paid for in full, along with the cost of a new boiler. I received the invoice and paid my bill in full within 24hrs. Shaun’s gas safety certificate noted “no smoke alarms” and recorded the inspection as a fail. Which was his own test for the work paid for.
When I questioned it, Shawn (the company owner) called me a “prick” on the phone and seemed annoyed that I was asking about the legal paperwork he had promised and acknowledged was needed to get a tenant back into the property quickly. He claimed the paperwork had been sent to my email. (Prior to this discussion I had clearly written out my email address in full and sent it to him via text to avoid any spelling issues, (it was a simple copy-and-paste task.)
Shawn’s response when asked about the paid unfitted smoke alarms was “I will put smoke alarms in the post box for you and your key”. Which seems dishonest as he had invoiced and I paid for fitting.
I’m sure this company does do some good work but I’m rating them on this task and interaction.
To try and resolve any issues with the owner you get sworn at and money for work not carried out and highlighted by the companies own test and documented legal paperwork, with held.
I would strongly advise against using him.

I’m a property landlord and I’ve used Shaun a few times now and I will only use him as I’ve found him really trustworthy, competent, reliable, he cleans up after himself and his prices are reasonable, I would have no problem recommending him
Shaun, was very prompt to attend our property and very professional. He diagnosed very quickly and methodically probable issues with our boiler and gave us a very honest solutions to resolve it. Great fast and quick service called in the AM for broken boiled and fixed by 2pm with new fan fitted. Highly recommend and especially if you have a Worcester you can’t do better.

SM had installed a new boiler for us 12 months ago which has been faultless since installation and we had no hesitation in asking Shaun to fit 5 replacement radiators, originals being at least 30 years old. He visited a couple of times to size up the job and advise on the rads we needed. The new rads are obviously all metric measurements meaning he had a lot of work to do in adapting the existing pipework which he did not only to fit but to look good once complete. The job was done in less than a day and was done solo despite the weight of the larger rads. Very happy with the result and happy to recommend

This is the fourth time I've used Shaun at SM Boilers. Brilliant service as ever - Shaun re-routed an ancient gas pipe while I was doing a bathroom refit. Excellent neat and tidy job - explained everything. Also did my yearly gas boiler check.
