Bought SMEG toaster and kettle

Bought SMEG toaster and kettle, in one month with less than 10 times use, the toaster tripped my household power down. I guess I paid an intelligence tax for the brand and look. Suggest to avoid if you can.

CHEAP CONSTRUCTION

I HAVE A KETTLE AND TOASTER. THE TOASTER IS OK ALTHOUGH THE BROWNING IS UNEVEN. THE KETTLE HAS A BROKEN PART IN THE LID HINGE WHICH IS NOT SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN MISTREAT. I ACCEPT THAT IT IS 5 YEARS OLD BUT WHEN YOU PAY SUCH A HEFTY PRICE YOU EXPECT IT TO BE CONSTRUCTED BETTER. MUCH BETTER TO REPLACE WITH ONE AT 1/3RD THE COST

Shocking service.

Shocking service.

We had an extra 10 year guarantee and honestly no point. We all know what it’s like to be without a washing machine for a day- try 2 weeks. They couldn’t send anyone out for a few days then had to order part from Italy, chased them when I saw it had arrived. Engineer booked but was then sick. The next slot the end of the week, so more days without a machine.
Had to scrap it and buy a new one.
I will never buy SMEG again.

SMEG KLF04WHUK Kettle with 7 Temperature Settings

We always kept SMEG in high regards due to very stylish designs. Our SMEG dishwasher lasted ten years, so for the new kitchen my wife decided to buy a SMEG kettle and toaster, which costed a small fortune. Really stylish kettle, a Porsche of kettles, with temperature controls, works well, a bit two heavy and lid opening not convenient. Yet, a real problem that makes it unusable is a very strong plastic smell even after after 40+ boils. The smell is the kitchen and the drinks smell of plastic. After reading reviews on plastic smell it seems to be a common problem with SMEG. Very disappointed, as when you pay £200 you expect not only Porsche looks yet also the performance. We will have to buy a different brand to replace. UPD: the smell faded away after 3-4 months, yet the SMEG toaster burned out after just more than a year usage, hence my judgement stands that whilst the devices are beautiful they are not built to last

Coffee maker stopped working and their Service Dept. does not respond!!

I purchased a $250 Smeg coffee maker last year, and after less than a year's use, it just stopped working. So I called their Customer Service number and chose the option for small appliance service. It then went to voicemail and I left a message. Never heard back so I emailed their Service email on the website. Nobody replied. Rinse and repeat, I called and emailed both the info@ and service@ emails four times over the next three weeks and nobody has contacted me! I filed a complaint with the BBB last month, and am still awaiting their response as well. This appliance supposedly has a two year warranty.

My 3rd Smeg milk frother…

My 3rd Smeg milk frother has been collected for repair today after only using it twice since its predecessor was collected on 24th May 2024. Whilst I personally cannot fault the customer service I have received from Smeg (I have been fortunate to receive quick replies and the faulty item has been collected swiftly each time), the same cannot be said for the quality of the brand. I suppose I should of known better to not have purchased a second Smeg appliance after having so many issues with my Smeg cooker but I will definitely not make the mistake a third time, I suggest you don't either.

Smeg appliances not supported in US - Do not buy!!

There are numerous things wrong with our Smeg oven. The problem is we cannot find ANYONE in the Denver area to work on it. The major issue for repair people is the inability to get parts. Here are the details of our last experience trying to get help by contacting SmegUSA.
On the SmegUSA website, the following information is posted.
"If you currently own a SMEG appliance, and have technical questions, or require in-home service, please call 888-763-4782 or email service email address." (Addresses are not allowed in Trustpilot reviews)
1. Called the number 3 times - no one answers and it eventually goes to voicemail - left a message each time - no return call.
2. sent an email - 24 hours later I got a response asking me to click a link and fill out a form
3. Filling out that form generated an automatic email asking me to provide PICTURES of the oven, the serial number and purchase receipt - which I did.
4. A few days later, I received an email from support with the name of a vendor in our area who works on Smeg appliances
5. When I called said vendor, I was told that they DO NOT work on Smeg. :(
6. I replied to the email explaining this but of course, I have not received an answer.

I give up - If you live in the US stay as far away from this company as you can!!

Bought a smeg cooker five years ago

Bought a smeg cooker five years ago. Paint on grill door and main oven door is blistering and rust is appearing on the doors. Smeg not interested, says its cosmetic, not their problem. Really poor quality product. Avoid like the plague!

Appalled with poor quality of blender and lack of customer service

Having bought my blender from a reseller it made sense that I would take it back to them as it was leaking and there was a visible internal structural break. They had to send it off to a local approved repairer. Two months later I have my once loved machine back having now paid an exorbitant amount to have a replacement jug. The seller and repairer have passed the buck and fobbed me off. No one has been able to provide me with an actual Smeg complaints department to escalate my dissatisfaction. My Facebook and tweet messages to Smeg c/s have gone unanswered. The local helpline links directly to the repairer so I have had no redress. The machine was relatively new so it’s rather shocking this alleged wear and tear has happened in such a short time also that I have been forced to pay almost half of the actual cost of the blender again in repairs. With a kitchen & utility fitted with only Smeg appliances this has obviously changed my view on this supposed reputed and recognised brand.

Avoid smeg appliances.

Our Smeg oven (SFPA7395X) hasn't worked since a power cut. Apparently the clock needs replacing (8 week wait for part @ $500 plus service costs so close to $900). From what I read this is a common issue..

Suggest avoiding Smeg products and get something that is robust and reasonable to repair

5 Stars Before it Leaked all Over The…

5 Stars before it leaked all over the floor! If you had asked me regarding my customer experience with a Smeg dishwasher 1 day ago, I would have said, "Best dishwasher, I have ever had! Yes, it was expensive, but you get what you pay for - it washes well, has 3 levels, is quiet and has a fast cycle" - That was before my 4 year old Smeg dishwasher started to leak! It seems two small door seals are the likely culprit, however, when I took into consideration it would be approximately $500 to get my dishwasher fixed, (call out fee + travel) I decided I would just wash up by hand until I researched a better option to my once beloved Smeg dishwasher. At approximately 4 years old and with only 1 cycle a day, no one could say my dishwasher was "overworked." Even my local Harvey Norman sales assistant said he was surprised as he could see by his records that my dishwasher should have lasted longer than 4 years.
I loved all the qualities of my Smeg dishwasher, (washed well, 3 levels, quiet and a quick cycle) however, when it dies after only 4 years, I have to consider a brand which will last longer.
It seems price in this case, makes no difference to my overall customer satisfaction.

This company is just awful

This company is just awful. I bought a whole new kitchen had all Smeg appliances. Within a year they have all had to be repaired. They look good but they are poorly and cheaply made and i regret my choices massively. My cooker turned up and it wasn't assembled correctly, my oven stopped working within a year and my hood has never fitted right. the dishwasher had to be repaired before we even used it. Now the microwave has just been repaired but has broken again a week later and that's without the fact that its a really poor microwave thsat takes ages to heat things. I would replace it all if I could.

Quality vs price makes no sense

We have three items from the brand: a toaster, a blender, and a coffee maker. The coffee maker worked fine, but suddenly, it started to smell like a short circuit. I can assure you there are no electrical issues in the house; the worst of all three is the blender; since the first use, it started dripping a weird rusty liquid out of the jar, and the actual drive stud and blades have worsened with time. It's very unpleasant. It is a shame because these items are beautiful and pretty expensive and have such a poor quality :(

Pathetic Canadian Customer Service #2

I can only echo another Canadian reviewer's post that SMEG Canada's (aka Royco Ltd's) customer service is an abomination. If i could give zero stars, i would.

We inherited a brand new 36'' duel fuel range when we bought our house only six years ago. One of the oven door brackets that supports the oven door broke in early January. Over the next three months, after countless emails and calls to both Smeg and its only authorized out-of-warranty repair company, TransGlobal, we still have no idea when (if ever) the replacement bracket may become available.

As with other reviews, Smeg's inability provide even inexpensive replacement parts for its own products is inexcusable. If you have any problems, don't expect any help from Smeg.

I will never buy another of their products.

SMEG I thought was a good product

SMEG I thought was a good product. Terrible service. The plastic on the top of the coffee karate completely cracked off. I was pouring a full pot of steaming hot coffee. I contacted service and the response was pay the $59.99 plus shipping and we will send you a new one. Are you kidding!! How about I sue your company for burns. I could understand if I broke the glass and have to buy a new one. Your faulty handle broke and you send send me a new one with an apology

I am now on my third smeg toaster in so…

I am now on my third smeg toaster in so many years 😪...I did get 2 of these replaced but I had to put the complaint thru resolver as smeg were not helpful .I love the look of the toaster but sadly its unfit for purpose ..For the hefty price tag they are sadly lacking . Once again we are back to the same fault of burning and tripping the electricity circuit. Not safe and for the money they cost they are quite frankly rubbish ..
