Do not work for Smile Education

I registered with Smile Education to work as a Behaviour Mentor and provided all the required documentation—a lengthy and detailed process. My references were contacted before I was even offered any work, and I also paid for an enhanced DBS check.

I had a successful interview and was then asked for additional information. I provided this information and was from then on completely ignored.

This level of disregard is highly unprofessional. It is unacceptable to share so much sensitive and personal information with an agency under the impression that there are work opportunities—only to be completely ignored.

I have since then asked to be removed from their records, as per GDPR, with no response at all. I will be taking it further.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Smile Education to prospective staff or to schools looking for a reliable and communicative agency.

Since then, I have registered with another agency, which has been highly professional, and I have been working successfully through them.

Terrible

I have had a very disappointing experience with this agency. They frequently cancel work on the same day without any consideration, which has been incredibly frustrating. Additionally, I have often been assigned by Kashmindar (Kash) , who has been unprofessional and has lied about various aspects. Save your time and worth as you deserve so much better. I would definitely not recommend this agency; it has been a complete waste of time.

On first contact all seemed OK but…

On first contact all seemed OK but communication was poor.
Then I asked about certain details that weren't on the original JD, hours, pay, which cut the comms dead.
I have come across a lot of these agencies who think they have the power cause they hold the info. Unless someone can be honest from the start its not going to work. All they care about is the commission, if it ain't gonna happen they drop you and move on.
I would try to avoid these if I were you.

Smile Education review

My experience with Smile Education as been amazing so far. They have been so understanding and flexible towards my personal and professional needs. My consultant, Ian Bambrick has been so down to earth and humble. very easy to talk to and answers all of my questions. He is always available to on the phone and answers text messages straight away.

Went down hill fast.

I had a lovely meeting/ interview with Charlotte. Freya was super helpful during the clearing process. I was really excited to start working for Smile... until I had a phone call with Emma. I explained how I was looking for part-time work, rather than full-time as my circumstances changed over night as I got a role directly within a school. Emma's response was aggressive, rude, sighing at me down the phone and started to question why I accepted the job. She also said that she couldn't help me to get a part-time role, but then Smile sent an e-mail looking for part-time TA staff. I spoke to Freya about my concerns, who apologised. Unfortunately this has completely put me off taking on any future roles with Smile and it's such a shame with the amount of effort put in by other members of staff who got me cleared for work.

Smile Education's questionable reviews

How can a company that refuses to accept and respect experienced and skilled job seekers really have such positive reviews? This is especially if a potential client has encountered other staff and employers who have had bad experiences with Smile Education. Smile Education will NOT accept those who have been self-employed in education and have expert knowledge and experience. If you provide them with excellent references and reviews from your clients, Smile Education refuse to accept this, so they literally rule out employing anyone who has more experience than them. They have stated they are `only' interested in those who are already employed. Other recruiters accept those who have been self employed, yet Smile Education won't. In the real world, you'd think that those who are so experienced and skilled would be snapped up as a valuable asset, yet Smile Education treat them with utter contempt and disrespect. My experience also includes schools, colleges and various educational, training and employment establishments. In all those years, I have yet to meet anyone who worked for Smile Education. The few that I have met, had nothing positive to say about them.
