Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with unexpected payments and subscriptions that appeared without their clear consent. Customers frequently reported that a small initial charge, often 1p, was followed by a larger, recurring charge of around £39.99, which they had not intended to incur. This often happened when trying to use other apps or websites, leading to confusion and frustration. Reviewers also found it difficult to unsubscribe or cancel these subscriptions, with some noting that their email addresses were not recognized by the service, making it impossible to manage their accounts. Many had to cancel their debit or credit cards and involve their banks to prevent further unexpected charges.

Beware of this site it is a scam site…

Beware of this site it is a scam site that picks up your email address and credit card details from other sites and then attempts to charge you £39.99 every 28 days. Do not sign up to anything and if you get an email from them react immediately by unsubscribing. i repeat this is a scam site and you will get nothing for your money that is not already free and available elsewhere. If they have not taken the money immediately cancel your credit card or if directly from your bank call the bank who will refuse their payment request. In the meantime I have reported them to the necessary regulatory authorities with whom I am progressing action to restrict their illegal activities.

They attempted to take £39 from my credit card
I had no idea what this was for, but thankfully, my credit card rejected the payment and sent me a message to contact their fraud department. All future requests for payment from smooth-hub.com will be blocked.

Scam - beware

I was trying to pay for parking and the phone took me to smooth-hub to register my card. Three days later £39.99 is taken from my account. CLEARLY A SCAM.

QR code reader scam

QR code reader scam - beware
This is based on the case of my close family member who shall remain nameless.
Two days ago in a shop in a well-respected shop they accessed a qr code scanner to get a discount. The qr code scanner was an app they had themselves installed on their phone. To get the discount they had to create an account. When about to do this, the Smooth Hub ad popped up. Thinking this was the app to download, my relative filled out the form and gave them their banking details.
Once they noticed an upcoming charge on their card, they asked me to help, as they had no idea how this charge had come up or indeed, what the company is or what the service even is, that they supposedly ordered.
I have now helped them to write to Smooth Hub to try and get the order of whatever it is they are selling to be cancelled. Their site claims a cancellation can be done simply by entering your email - which means if they are legit - that anyone can cancel anyone else's subscription, if they know a person has subscribed to this service (?) and has their email address. Terrible security if you ask me.
The site looks entirely AI created and shady - it is remarkably unclear what they even claim to sell.
Avoid like plague.
And only use built-in qr code scanner apps, do not download third-party qr scanner apps with ads.

Car park at Coney beach

All pay machines at Coney beach car park were not accepting card payments. I attempted pay by phone and somehow was taken to smooth hub whilst registering my card. I exited this as was concerned...found enough cash to pay the parking £5. Three days later my bank queried a subscription charge of £39.99. I wonder how many others were caught in this...shame on smooth hub. Good old barclays!

I was trying to set something up on my…

I was trying to set something up on my computer which involved scanning a QR code. As part of the set up I had to click on the link and follow instructions. I thought that was what I was doing, but was interrupted half way through and had to return later to restart the process.
It seems that I had inadvertently set up a free trial of three days, followed by a monthly subscription of £39.99, by clicking on an ad instead of the instructions, before I was interrupted.
I only realised this when I saw the payment pending on my bank statement this morning. I didn't even know who or what smooth hub was an hour ago.
I have spent the last hour going through all my emails trying to find anything about this. I finally found two emails from smooth hub in a spam folder of an account I hardly ever use. So I went to the unsubscribe and request a refund options.
The automated reply said it would be two days before they get back to me. There is no phone number. The live chat feature doesn't allow you to type anything other than an email address, then it opens a ticket which is emailed to you...
I still know next to nothing about this company, but I know I am very unhappy with them and want nothing more to do with them. Once they've cancelled my subscription and refunded my money, that is.
