THIS IS COMPANY IS A SCAM.
PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY UNTIL YOU READ SOME REVIEWS.
I arrived at Rome fuimicino airport on the 17th July. I went to your check in desk and spoke to Julia when I gave her my confirmation number she told me in a very aggressive and rude manner that this booking was inactive and therefore she couldn’t help me out. I was told that I had to speak to a broker on a number she gave me which wouldn’t connect. When I showed her that the number would not connect she again told me that there was nothing she can do in even more aggressive manner.
I had made my booking with Opodo and I called them and they asked to speak to the agent. I passed the phone on to Julia and she being rude and aggressive with the agent as well.
Eventually she seemed to find the confirmation number but told me that she would only release the car to me after I pay an additional fee of Euro 344 as insurance. I informed her that I already had my own private insurance. She said that they don’t accept that and must pay. Once I reluctantly agreed to pay as I had no choice but to take the car, her attitude completely changed and she became extremely friendly.
It is clear that this was a major scam and we were forced to pay more than double the sum we paid for the booking when there was no reason.
She then said that had I had a credit card then this wouldn’t need to happen. When I gave her my American Express she said they don’t accept it. However she accepted it for me to make the payment of 344 euros.
Firstly there is no where in the confirmation that states that you need to buy insurance at the desk otherwise the car is not released, and secondly there is no where that states American Express credit cards are not accepted.
On the return of the car, I witnessed again them scamming everyone at the desk with this insurance thing or something else and meet a number of customers returning their car and every single one had one version or another of being scammed. They also attempted to scam me for the deposit that they took at the check in by telling me that their systems are down and therefore could give me proof of closing the rental contract. I am still keeping fingers crossed to ensure that they deposit comes back.
For all of you that experienced similar situation I strongly urge you to write to the headquarters and to any regulatory body as this companies should not be allowed to operate any where.
I am still in the process of figuring out the details of who to write too etc, once I have this information I will post here again. Of course getting the shuttle back to the airport was another stressful experience, your basically told to go wait without any clear instructions as to where or what time the shuttle will leave. We had to wait for ages and of course panicking that we will be late for our flight.
