I really enjoyed this bank at first but…

I really enjoyed this bank at first but since money has gotten tight recently, I haven't had the best balances. However, when I am already negative, you should not be allowing more things to pull. I am trying to get my balance to $0 from negative balance and I am finally $13 dollars away from that and you allowed another payment to pull which made that money I put in there worthless when it could have gone to something else. I am trying to close this account at the same time so I am still moving bills over to another account. Constant notifications or pop ups constantly saying get cryptos or bitcoins when I want nothing to do with it. What is interesting is, you are kind of picky about what can pull when the balance is low as well. You allow debt collectors to pull funds but not the electric company? Yeah, if you're struggling financially, not the best route to go.

Unprofessional and Disrespectful of My Time

I don’t even know where to start. This was hands down one of the most frustrating customer experiences I’ve had in a long time.

I scheduled a call with a SoFi loan officer for 11:00 AM. Not “sometime in the morning.” Not “we’ll get to you when we can.” An actual appointment. I blocked time on my work calendar specifically for this call because that’s what responsible adults do when they’re trying to move forward with something as important as a loan.

11:00 comes and goes. No call.

I proceed to call the loan officer FIVE times over the next 15–20 minutes. Straight to voicemail every single time. No response. No acknowledgment. Nothing.

So I call SoFi’s main line hoping someone can help. Instead, I get a rep who couldn’t care less. His response? Loan officers are “very busy” and I should expect to wait up to TWO HOURS for a callback. Excuse me? Then what exactly is the point of scheduling an appointment?

At that point, it had already been over an hour past my scheduled time with zero communication. No heads-up, no apology, no attempt to reschedule. Just complete disregard for my time.

If your system is so overloaded that your loan officers can’t honor scheduled appointments, then stop pretending these appointments mean anything. Don’t ask people to carve time out of their day if you’re not going to show up.

This isn’t just poor service - it’s disrespectful. And based on this experience alone, I seriously question trusting SoFi with anything important.

I will never do business with SoFi…

I will never do business with SoFi again. I was charged a $10 credit card fee that I was never properly notified about. SoFi claims they sent an email, but I never received it - not in my inbox or spam. Notifications about fees should be sent by mail as well, especially when money is involved.

What is most disappointing is that I was a loyal customer with multiple products through SoFi, including a loan, credit card, checking account, and savings account. Despite that, they refused to refund a simple $10 fee. It is not about the amount - it is about the lack of transparency and poor customer service. Be careful and watch their fees closely.

Look Elsewhere

SoFi promised a closing date of the 13th. We didn’t close by the 24th - and I had to take a trip out of the country.
From the start, I had to chase down their team to keep things moving - doing follow-up work that should have been handled on their end. Despite that, they still failed to close by their own committed date, and then missed it again by the 24th, when I had an international trip.
To make matters worse, the delay resulted in a credit inquiry that dinged my score - with no resolution and no accountability from anyone on their 4-5 person team. Not one person took ownership.
This was one of the most disorganized and unprofessional lending experiences I’ve had. If your timeline matters at all, look elsewhere.

SOFI imposed a fee with no notice, theft of $10

Sofi changed the terms on my 2% Mastercard to involve a $10 monthly fee. They claim to have sent notice, but it is not in my email box. They refuse to refund the $10. This is a shady company that values $10 more than their reputation and customer retention. (Incidentally, new customers still get the card for no fee... until they change their terms on you. Beware). Customer service was firm that they refuse to refund the fee. (Also, the $10 fee was obfuscated on the credit card statement presumably in hopes of reaping many months or years of fees.)

I’ve been with SoFi for about a year I do like their style of banking although I will say only one out of four referrals were successful and paid one did not follow through with the sign up the other two I did not get paid for and they signed up and currently have accounts with Sofi. I’ve only raised the issue over one of them because I wasn’t physically with one of the two I did not get paid for when signing up so I can’t guarantee 100% that they used my link although I did give them my link, but the one that they were going to look into and get back to me and never did use my link because I helped him sign up physically

Perfect credit and they wouldn't approve me.

I applied for a small $5k personal loan, for a Rakuten point incentive. My business takes in $300k annually, and I earn $60k through payroll. My credit is perfect with a fico over 800, I have over $200k in open cc credit (I never use), and still this was not enough for them to approve my personal loan and they wanted a cosigner. What a joke! Do not waste your time on this company...

Paid three payments early so I could…

Paid three payments early so I could try to refinance my loan to consolidate everything into one loan. Was told by Mark that I have to make payments the exact due date not early for them to count as on time. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Punishing someone for making their payments early is predatory lending and I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB. As a 3 year long customer I have lost all respect for SoFi and what this company has done in setting me backwards. Shame on you SoFi

Just save your time and effort and go…

Just save your time and effort and go to lending club for personal loans. I’ve spoken with 3 different reps and they all tell me they will change my autopay date and convienently forget to change it so I have to call again and waste more time trying to get it adjusted again but then they tell me I have to double pay the month now. Just terrible customer service and scammy feel

Bait and switch

This company is making it so your interest rate is tied to a subscription. Before as long as you used the bank with direct deposit you would get .125 percent interest rate decrease on your loan. They now change the requirement to have a 10 dollar a month subscription.

Absolute scammy behavior

This company is an absolute disaster to…

This company is an absolute disaster to deal with. They dragged out a basic personal loan process for more than a month, showing zero organization, zero transparency, and zero respect for my time. Instead of being upfront about what they needed, they kept coming back with new document requests every few days like they had no idea what they were doing.

After wasting over a month of my life, they denied the loan anyway—something they easily could have told me from the start. Their incompetence and lack of honesty are unbelievable.

This is not a professional company. This is a time‑wasting, disorganized mess, and I would strongly warn anyone to stay far away. They don’t deserve even one star.
