Soil Benchmark is an online platform helping agronomists and farmers manage soil, nutrients, manure and crop protection, all from one easy map-based interface. We launched in November 2023, and we're really proud that it's now used by more than 6,000 farms across England, Wales and Scotland. In England alone that's around 1.34 million hectares, over 15% of the farmed area. A few things people tend to like: it's quick to pick up and quick to get going, because we’ve build it with farmers and agronomists rather than for them - drop in your farm boundary, or an SBI number in England, and a lot of your data is already pre-populated. It produces robust, audit-ready plans and job sheets, and has the SFI, NVZ, RB209, HSE and Red Tractor rules built in, so the compliance and paperwork looks after itself. We're independent too, so we don't sell inputs or your data and we're not competing with the advisors who use us. And we're a small UK-based team, so if something's not right we tend to fix it in a day or two, and we’re adding new features to the platform every single week. We were founded in 2022 by Tom Scrope and Ben Butler, a soil scientist who used to be at the James Hutton Institute, and we're backed by DEFRA, Ordnance Survey, the European Space Agency, the University of Edinburgh and a group of farmer investors.
