Really awesome except the video learning experience...it's not optimized, can't make it full screen, couldn't pause, it didn't keep track of where I was so I had to restart from the beginning several... See more

The app is so informative and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone with children.

I think something is wrong with the app, because 2 things are marked as tryied while i didnt enter it on the app and mango fir example we trued and i csnt see it on the list.
Beside that i would like to see my progress with the kinds of food and the reading at the begining in a easier way, right now i keep searching from the begining all the time

Very helpful information and easy to understand guidance into the journey of solids with my daughter. I use this app very often at the moment and feel much more confident with solids. It gives me a lot of inspiration on what food to serve - and most important: how to prepare it.

I like the food guide, but the app is way too expensive for what it is. I don’t need it for the full year, just the first few months of solids. I wish there was a month to month option for the subscription. Paying $130 up front for a year is too much. I’d rather pay $11 a month for the three or so months I need.

The content is really good but the UX is confusing for iOS (not native UX). For example, when logging food, the pop-up is really uncomfortable and confusing for me since it is not a usual UX in iOS

I really like that I can look up foods and how to prepare for all different stages of baby led weaning. Having each food as a common allergen or high iron is also great!
The app is glitchy and slow at times. It takes a while to search for and log foods, and sometimes I have to research or click and unclick a food a few times to get it to work.
Also, I try to read articles I am sent via the apps and any links within the app take me to the online browser and then I immediately get a pop up message to try the app. I wish everything was available and worked through the app; it’d be way less frustrating.
One final note, I wish I could skip through the allergen meals rather than just log it. Sometimes I’ve already had it and don’t want to log that recipe but I’d like to see the other options. I wish all the trying allergen info was available all the time and not as you progress. I didn’t get that info until I logged enough of the preset meals and by the time I did that I had already introduced most allergens.

There are glitches in the interface, and the paid version didn't offer a lot of recipes.

Love the meal ideas and recipes. However, the frequent app crashing makes it difficult to navigate.

Great app to have as you start your solids journey. The suggestions on how to serve food specifically for each age group is really helpful.

Great informative app. I love the breakdown for each food by age and the videos they have of infants trying the food, so you know what to expect. It’s taken a lot of the stress away about trying new things!

I love that I can search a food and know how to confidently serve it to my 6 month old!

The food database and information provided for each is great, but the app can be improved. It doesn't respond to Android phone navigation button and the navigation menu overlaps the bottom of the app window, making some buttons unreachable.

The information is great, but the app runs really slowly and it can take ages to find something.
Comparatively, the food logging function in Huckleberry (which I use free) is very fast.
Even though I have a paid subscription to Solid Starts, I find myself using free versions of other apps because they don't take an eternity to load. All the information in Solid Starts is helpful though and the serving suggestions are useful.
Edit/update:
Some of the recipes are very good too.
Before writing this, I had recently updated the app. It now no longer crashes, but it still takes ages to log food in the tracker. If a meal has more than six ingredients, I don't bother to log it because it takes me even more time to do that than to clean the high chair. Additionally, the "save" feature on new foods is placed under Android's "back" button, making this shortcut unavailable for Android phone users.

Love this app! Super helpful and makes starting solids so much less stressful. My son turned 1 yesterday and, looking back, I can definitely tell that it helped me lots. The only tiny downside is that a few foods aren’t in the list yet, but overall it’s amazing and I recommend it to every parent.

Not the best operating app. Hard to get some features to work and difficult to save notes at time due to a wayyyy too low save button

I really like how everything has a video and an example of how to serve but the app UI is a little wonky and not that intuitive.

Reply from Solid Starts
Often times the app doesn’t register the tracked foods so I have to close out the app and start over. Some of the recipes seem difficult to make (long time) but overall it’s okay because it helps give me ideas to feed my kid

Used for my first baby 3 years ago and now using for my second and I am so grateful for a straightforward easy to understand guide to safely introduce solids. I was very nervous about choking and while still very cautious, following this app’s guidelines has helped ease my worries.

This app is so helpful for keeping me organized while I start food introductions with my baby. I love the suggestions for how to serve, the tips, the reminders about choking or other dangers etc. I love the videos that show you haw to prepare the food for baby or the videos of babies eating so you get a glimpse of "normal" baby engagement with food. I love the tracker and how you can add each food and notes and record reactions. There are some improvements I would make a long the lines of data exporting or more customization with tracker, but overall this is helpful and the information is comprehensive and backed by the most current data around food introductions.
