We had the best experience with Somak in Sri Lanka. Our driver Dush met us on arrival and we had the best 10 days with him. He was super flexible if we wanted to change the itenary, brilliant driver and a really lovely guy who made our experience amazing!

We felt safe with Somak, they looked after us and we’d absolutely use them again, until next time!

Great holiday and service. Our driver, Michael, met us on arrival at the airport and provided five great game drives over 2.5 days. We stayed at Salt Lick lodge, which was just amazing with Michael driving us on to the beach hotel. Between booking and going, all our questions were answered promptly, the itinerary sent through was clear and the information pack was fantastic, providing so much detail. We would certainly recommend Somak.

Fine when things go right - but when they go wrong, they are nowhere to be seen…. Terrible service. Would never use again.

Delivered the perfect safari and beach holiday

Somak was recommended by my local travel agent as a price comparison to Abercrombie & Kent and although they advertise as a luxury travel company they appear to be just an overpriced booking agent. My very expensive, once-in-a-lifetime, luxury holiday was a safari, Vic Falls and beach holiday. The safari lodge was out of this world but I had been very specific about location, dates and standard of lodge; for the rest I assumed Somak were Africa travel experts (as per their website blurb) ‘crafting unforgettable escapes’ and offering ‘bespoke adventures’ and everything would be a similar luxury standard. I was left feeling absolutely ripped off with no meet & greet at any airport, budget local air lines for all air transfers and LHW hotels, which may be classed as 5-star but the room standard, level of service and overall experience nowhere near met the price charged by Somak (e.g. TUI were offering the same beach resort). Somak appeared to book everything that gave maximum profit for them rather than delivering the high-end luxury travel experience I thought I’d paid for so would absolutely not recommend this company. My complaint on return was met with ‘we will reply in 8 weeks as per ABTA rules’, which was a deadline they missed and final compensation offered was only 2% of the very high total holiday cost.
