Language Learning Customized To Your Needs
I tried Homeschool Spanish Academy, after searching language classes online. I needed to jumpstart my learning! I began in August 2022. I have been continually impressed by the teachers, and my ability to tailor and customize my learning. There are several options and the teachers check in often with your progress. I am an adult learner, but I would recommend any age learner can develop language skills with this program! First class is free. It is worth a try, for sure!
The perfect classes for Real Spanish learners
As a homeschool mom fostering a bilingual homeschool, I’ve really enjoyed the classes offered by Homeschool Spanish Academy. Native speakers and real conversation are important to me, especially since I remember language in school being a ton of rote memorization with no real application. I’m so happy with our classes now and my little guy (he’s 8) just held his own in Spain during our recent vacation. I plan to continue classes for him through high school!
Spanish lesson with long term retention!
My son has been using Homeschool Spanish Academy for almost 2 years and we love it! I love seeing my son use what he is learning daily. He is able to communicate with his cousins who live in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico 🙃. The teachers are nice and they really care about your kids and encourage them to be their best! I also appreciate the parent dashboard so I am in the loop with what he is learning. I had a bad habit of speaking Spanglish to my son and so he developed some bad habits and now he is correcting me 😱! If you are looking for a quality Spanish program with great customer services I would look into HSA! !!
Great attitude and lesson!
My 13 year old son and I sat through a class with Rosemary. She had great energy and was super excited through the entire lesson. My son was unsure at first but quickly warmed up. What I mostly appreciated was that she did not let him get away with being lazy on the pronunciations...she had him repeat words to make sure he got them correct. Highly recommend.
Website needs an independent and unbiased perspective in its reviews
This website is more about op-eds and less about statistically reviewed information to drive post on the website. I have not checked all aspects of the site but I believe it my be politically and / or motivated to just get consumers to sign up.
Great Teachers, Poor Curriculum
My son and I are taking high school Spanish through Homeschool Spanish Academy. I am a former French and ESL teacher and wanted to learn Spanish. While the teachers we have had are very engaging and very good, the curriculum is absolutely horrible. I have called the company and discussed my concerns with them and unfortunately, it is not a problem that can be quickly resolved. We just finished our 19th session and just learned numbers. Normally in a foreign language curriculum, students would learn numbers in the first or second session. Also, there are homework, quiz and test questions that use vocabulary that hasn't been introduced yet with very inconsistent usage of grammar. For example, there has still not been a formal introduction of definite and indefinite articles. When vocabulary is presented, we have no idea if the item is masculine or feminine. Later in other exercises, they incorporate the pronouns or articles that correspond but they don't actually introduce it. If my son was taking this course without me, he would be thoroughly confused. There are also really confusing directions and misspellings for english words. I have given HSA my feedback and have asked the director to call me to discuss. Unfortunately, they have not taken that opportunity.
There are good things about this program- mainly the opportunity to interact with native speakers and the flexible class scheduling. But unfortunately, the way they are building the lesson material is sorely lacking and the inconsistency in spelling, grammar and presentation of material is very detrimental. Because we have already paid for this year, we will finish the year however we will be looking for other options for my son for next year.

Flexible and effective …
The flexibility in this company is great. A live teacher but I can change the time each week. My two kids are loving their spanish and pointing out things in Spanish each day. The two teachers we have used have been friendly and kind to my kids and their English is excellent. My kids are learning Spanish and enjoying it!

FUN level and proficiency improving over time!! :)
Son’s anxious feelings before class reducing over time, and FUN level increasing, plus MAJOR progress being made!!
We were previously using Duolingo, which we still love for a quick daily practice and reviews, but without a live person there to make subtle pronunciation corrections, or to lead a regular, every-day conversation, little progress is actually made over time. My son did enjoy doing his Duolingo every day as part of homeschool, but we made the decision to try an online school. We found HSA and are SO glad we did!!!
My son’s teacher, Liz, is very friendly, SO encouraging, and thankfully, she is fun, too! While using a structured curriculum which my son accepted and is motivated to use, she also has fun conversations with him every single class – just things that come up during lessons, like how many siblings they each have, what the weather is like today (we had a hurricaine in Southern California last week!!!, but she said they have them all the time in Guatemala), and what pets we have. They enjoy these regular real-life conversations, and we were AMAZED that he could actually discuss these things with her IN SPANISH, while he’s only in his 8th lesson with her. So fun!!
My son does have some anxious feelings just before each class, and seems exhausted afterwards (25mins class time), particularly when there is a quiz/exam, he says he really enjoys the classes!! (My point is that if your student says they are nervous or anxious, I would suggest just surging through for a few more weeks – there may be this breakthrough toward a good relationship with the teacher that tips the scale over anxious feelings).
I have NEVER had a teacher in regular school (even me as the teacher with my son in homeschool) give more praise for doing regular activities! I know there is the idea that not every kid deserves a trophy for just doing their work, our HSA teacher doles it out copiously and this encourages our son (and us, the parents!! :) This really keeps lessons positive, and we ALL appreciate the kudos :)
Regarding scheduling classes and login, it could not be easier. You just select days of the week you want, and you get a list of times, you pick one, and add it to your schedule. Discounts for purchasing more classes at the same time – great. Our teacher has always showed up on time (she is often waiting there when we log on early!) We never feel rushed, and she never finishes classes early. She seems organized, has a plan, tells us the plan for the next class every time, and assignees homework and makes it very clear which sections to complete (homework takes perhaps 10-15 minutes max).
You might think that the small cost for these classes is unnecessary, but can you really place a price on being able to communicate clearly with Spanish-speakers? There are SOOO many countries where Spanish is spoken. Becoming bilingual is an amazing accomplishment AND can be used life-long. These classes are super cheap compared to wasting time in other courses where you may stagnate over time. Plus, these classes also offer FUN! We do classes three days a week 25 minutes per class, and this seems just right for us. We could see 5 days a week speeding up our progress but we don’t think our son loses progress or has trouble diving back in after the weekend or after his day off from class.
Overall, HSA makes purchase, scheduling, logon and understanding curriculum and assignments very simple, no stress! AND it makes class fun with easy-to-appreciate progress being made at each class. We highly recommend HSA. We can’t imagine you not loving it, too. Have fun!!! :)

Highly Recommended
I highly recommend Homeschool Spanish Academy for several reasons. First, it has a set curriculum for all teachers to follow. Second, there is homework for students to practice in between classes. Third, we can choose the time that works best with our schedule (morning, afternoon or evening). Fourth, the teachers are very friendly and competent. In short, Homeschool Spanish Academy is the best way for students to have a meaningful one-on-one experience.

Easy to start and kid-friendly
We have been doing Spanish classes through Homeschool Spanish Academy for over a month now, and it's great! It is *so* easy to schedule classes online around your schedule, and my 6 year old enjoys the class format. The instructor did a nice job tailoring the class to our needs, and I like how the lessons are individualized to the child. We plan on continuing, and eventually doing it with other children as well.

The dashboard was easy to navigate and…
The dashboard was easy to navigate and I like how I could book multiple classes at once. So this made it easier for my kids to stick with the same teacher at the same time. Our teacher was very friendly. The reminders are also super helpful. Also the plateform was easy to get homework assignments.

Teachers don't show up for classes!
I Was offered a free 25/30 minute class as an introduction which everyone gets. however the teacher never showed. I emailed to let them know and they responded saying they were sorry and could they please rebook me if I was interested. Of course things go wrong so I accepted and said sure things go wrong no worries. Well it has happened again. NO TEACHER SHOWING UP. DONT waste your time with this place. Its a sham!
Better than all my USA classes
I am personally taking the online Homeschool Spanish courses and I absolutely love them. I am also currently taking a Spanish class at a Community College in the United States. Let me just tell you that the Homeschool Spanish knocks the socks off of the US class, plus it's less expensive. The instructors are all really sweet and speak clearly. The technology is great- clear audio and video, plus the platform for the homework assignments is easy to use. I have learned more in this course than I have in my time taking classes at community colleges. I was also surprised at how tailored the course is to my level. I took the placement exam and it truly put me in a course that didn't repeat a lot of past content (colors and numbers, again???) and the instructions are easy to understand. I plan on continuing this program beyond the 60 courses I am taking simply because I love it so much.

A Dream Come True!
I have tried Babble, Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, Adult Continuing Ed College classes, Kwiziq, BeepBoop, Online Self-Courses, Lingopie Wyzant, SpanDict!, YouTube videos. Nothing compares. I have learned more in 1 week at this school than I have in 1 year using other methods and programs.
The retention has stayed with me better than all combined! Like a portal opened in my mind that I have been waiting on for years. I was studying at another Guatemala School, and loved the teachers, but needed more structure. I realized that learning from a Guatemala School was the best choice yet.
After researching other places in Guatemala, I came across Homeschool Spanish Academy. Incredible! Everything I hoped for. The same amazing teachers WITH structure (homework, quizzes, reviews, feedback). Reflexives have finally “clicked” for me. Irregular verb conjugations are sticking! This is the BEST learning since I attended an immersion Spanish school as a child.
And no traffic, colleges, drawn out semesters, expensive programs or apps, frustrating parking… easy peasy all from home! It’s a dream come true!
* Heber has been incredibly supportive and responsive on emails about account issues.
* The Teachers: Kind, respectable, great energy and smiles. I feel like I am in a Latin American country in my own home. Every class the teacher has show up on time. They have been reliable, encouraging, and helpful in correcting my Spanish as we progress with a smile on their face.
I have purchased 60 classes to start. I have been attending class 25 minutes a day 6 days a week. I plan to attend classes for 1 year, and visit Guatemala in November.
Thank you for gifting this opportunity for me to finally level my Spanish from Intermediate to Advanced as I have hoped to for more than a decade! It’s now happening! Learning Spanish is so much FUN! Thank you thank you! I appreciate everyone so much!

Spanish class has never been so much fun!!
I am studying Spanish myself and signed up with Homeschool Spanish Academy to converse with instructors. I have met three different instructors and all three were fantastic. They spoke Spanish at a nice pace in a clear voice so I could understand. They would correct me very politely when I misspoke. They instructed me each lesson with vocabulary and grammar. Mostly, I did the talking so I could practice speaking Spanish. My experience so far has been fabulous and a lot of fun!
My 6 year old is learning Spanish fast thanks to Homeschool Spanish Academy
Homeschool Spanish Academy has been an excellent partner in my son’s Spanish language education. The system is easy to follow, his teacher is engaged and very patient in guiding a spirited 6 year old, and the back-end support is reliable. No matter where you are in the world, learning the Spanish language has become accessible thanks to Homeschool Spanish Academy.
We love Homeschool Spanish Academy!
We love Homeschool Spanish Academy! My daughter has been taking lessons since Kindergarten (she is now in 2nd grade) and she has learned so much! Over the course of the last 3 years we’ve had 3 different teachers and have really loved them all, very kind and patient with my daughter but also help her learn and keep her on track. I recommend HSA to all of my friends!
mostly organized, but a little crazy
It's a fairly good school for spanish the only issue is I scheduled a class and the teacher can't do it that day so they subbed in a teacher I know nothing about including their english speaking level. I don't want to be stressed out by miscommunications with a complete stranger and I would rather be involved in my teacher's replacement since I chose my teacher in the first place. also very few of the teacher's have good english speaking levels.
My children have been taking Spanish for more than 3 years with HSA
My children have been taking Spanish tutoring lessons through Homeschool Spanish Academy for more than 3 years and I am very happy with our experience. Of course, tutoring is only one component of a strong multi-faceted language learning program that I implement in our homeschool. We plan to continue with HSA and have received excellent customer service on the occasions that we have needed to reach out to resolve any issues. I highly recommend Homeschool Spanish Academy for any student seeking Spanish tutors.
