Speak Danish is a great tool!! A lot of fun and very easy to use. I prolonged the course 8 months too late, so my abonnement ran out after 3 months, but Mark was very helpful and prolonged my access for ten months!

I liked the site a lot, as it offers line-by-line audio (at 2 speeds, as well), which was really helpful, especially for Danish, where I think pronunciation is one of the more difficult aspects of the language.

It is my personal opinion that the hardest part of learning Danish as a beginner is the pronunciation. While living in Denmark it was easy to get feedback on my pronunciation of the language but it felt frustrating once moved out and I could not find easy help on that regard. When I tried Speak Danish, I smiled upon the existence of the "slow pronunciation button". I found it very useful and it soon became one of my favourite features of the platform.

I like the balance between the "hands on" approach of learning from the conversations, learning the pronunciation and the not-so-exciting-but-necessary world of grammar rules. the presentation of the contents always kept me motivated to continue learning.

On the opportunity side, I wish I had a way to sort the verb list in alphabetical order for the English translation.

One of the best tools I have tried. it helped me a great deal to learn the expressions, the accents and more words placed in context. Wishing there were more modules as the course it is very good.

It's a well structured course with good grammar tips, some good listening. Very good for a beginner.

I love the verbs part and the pronunciation too....something that is quite difficult for foreigners to figure out.

This is the best (and most fun!) language course I’ve ever seen. I’m a 60-something Canadian living in a small rural community in Quebec. My mother was Danish but sadly I didn’t learn the language as a child. I knew 10 Danish words when I started the course about a year and a half ago, and today I must know hundreds. I’m in my second year in the course and plan to renew for a third. The course is very comprehensive and there is a great deal of good material available beyond the 20 lessons/conversations. I can actually speak, read, write and understand Danish, albeit at a very basic level. It seems pretty miraculous to me.

If you know English and even a little French, you already have a great head start on learning Danish. Many Danish words are either the same or very similar to English. Knowing French helps with vocabulary, pronouncing Danish vowel sounds and dealing with the letter ‘r’. I also supplement the course by regularly listening to Danish radio, reading the news and watching Danish TV mini-series – all on dr.dk (it seems to be the Danish equivalent of Canada’s Canadian Broadcasting Corporation - CBC).

Although many Danes speak excellent English, as a visitor to Denmark I thought it important to show respect by learning some Danish and getting a sense of the culture through the language. SpeakDanish was excellent in getting me started! I was able to ask and respond to some questions in Danish, and found it also helpful in understanding signage, product labels, and other features. I would highly recommend SpeakDanish to anyone wanting to familiarize themselves with the language and culture.

This is by far the best course I have used to learn Danish. The options to listen to pronunciation both at normal speed and slower speed are particularly helpful. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wishes to learn to speak Danish.

I found the format of lessons and tests very easy for keeping my focus, so I was able to concentrate on the material and not in keeping track of different documents.

This is an excellent course with a lot of useful dialogue set out in everyday scenes - meeting for coffee, shopping, speaking on the phone, etc. It has the great advantage of being able to listen to the Danish phrases at normal speech speed and also in a slowed down version, thus greatly helping with the dreaded Danish pronunciation!
The sections explaining the structure and grammar are very useful too.
At a very reasonable price, I highly recommend it.
