Fantastic

Order was dispatched very quickly and received my package a day later. Products were fantastic, everything received. The site is great as it gives you points back (money) for purchases. Will be using again for sure

If a customer does make an order with us for an item that requires a backorder, this is communicated at the checkout to them, and it is also noted on the order confirmation email to the customer. Fly fishing tuition.

We booked a one‑hour beginners’ fly‑fishing lesson, which happily stretched into a very generous hour and a half. From the moment we arrived, every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome, even offering tea and coffee on a chilly winter morning to warm us up. It’s clear that the team truly love what they do—their enthusiasm and depth of knowledge shine through.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Sportfish to anyone interested in learning how to fly fish. Chris was outstanding: patient, encouraging, and incredibly skilled at teaching two complete novices how to cast a line, no matter how questionable our early attempts were.
After reading some of the other reviews, I can honestly say that we didn’t encounter a single negative experience. We had a brilliant time and left feeling excited to keep learning. Thank you for a great time, and I encourage others to give fly fishing a go.

Buying tackle on line is sometimes a bit tricky

Buying tackle on line is sometimes a bit tricky. In this case a Hardy Reel had a fault and I then asked for a different model as its replacement, but misjudged the sizing. What is important however is how a firm reacts to these little hurdles and in this case they were enormously helpful and sorted things immediately. Perfect!

Item out of stock after order.

Ordered new waders and boots combo. My wader size was out of stock and wouldn’t be back in for quite a while. David sent me an email and I called him to discuss my options. Without hesitation he offered me an upgrade and we meet in the middle. I’m happy. He’s happy. That’s proper business the way it should be. I will most definitely purchase from here again.

Amazing advice and service

Needed advice on lines, leaders and flies, and needed next day delivery. After a call I got an email with recommendations and links and after I submitted the order they made sure it was dispatched same day.
Awesome.

VERY SLOW

Very slow to dispatch. Ordered some lures and paid £3.99 delivery & “handling”.
7 days later still not received.
I did email to ask why it’s not been dispatched. I was told 1 item not in stock. Surely your website should not show items for sale when not in stock and items in stock should be sent ASAP.
I will learn my lesson and use local fishing shop as products are no cheaper online and hassle chancing up your order

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your review and sorry to hear about the delays you encountered. I’ve looked into this in more detail as while delays can happen, they are unusual for us as a business, nor should you be able to order an item that is out of stock.

You placed your order on Friday 13th June at 7.35pm, so the earliest it could have been despatched by us would have been Monday 16th June (orders placed after 3pm on a Thursday don’t get despatched until the following Monday, given that we don’t process orders over the weekend, which our website and online checkout makes clear). All the items you ordered were in stock, however several of them weren’t in stock at our warehouse where we despatch orders but at our other stores. Unfortunately any items that need to come in from another store always result in a delay to despatch. We had several emails with you on Tuesday 17th June advising of waiting for all stock to come and discussing alternatives. Following a further delay beyond our control with our inter-site transfers courier, all the items you ordered finally arrived at our warehouse on Thursday 19th June, were despatched the same day as a single order, which you received on Friday 20th June.

I know it’s not ideal having to wait as long as you did for your order to arrive, and I do apologise for this. It’s not what we would have wanted, but it is a rare occurrence. Part of the delay was beyond our control, part of it the result of stock levels at a particular time meaning certain products being held only in our stores rather than our warehouse.

I hope this goes some way to explaining the delay (and reassuring people that you can’t order out of stock products!).

I’ve been using Sportfish for a long time now and can honestly say they are fantastic. Outstanding customer service. I had an issue with a very expensive fly reel which I took back for a warranty claim. A little over 24hrs later a brand new reel was delivered to my door.

I don’t know any other company that gives a service like that.

A huge thanks to all the team in Hereford getting me back on the river so quickly.

Waste of time really.

Not trustworthy at all, I called twice and was promised a call back. It used to be very good sadly no longer. Impossible to talk to anyone apart from a woman who has no clue and clearly has no sense of humour either! Very sad. Maybe sack her and employ someone who has a keen interest in fishing. Thanks but I will look elsewhere

Great advice and service

I'm quite new to the sport so I called for some advice about rods. Having established my budget, Josh packaged together some gear based on my needs and promptly posted them out to me. Everything exceeded my expectation. Looking forward to testing it all out.

Really helpful and prompt service when exchanging an item that was too large.

Fantastic customer service

Chris at the Reading store has gone above and beyond to help me with an issue with a product. I guess I only really come to appreciate great service when there's an issue (not even of Sportfish's making!) and one of their customer service reps goes that extra mile to fix it.

Misleading information on the web page.

The picture and description on the product page does not match the options available when selecting. This lead to the wrong item being ordered. I had to pay approximately £7 at my own cost for posting to send and return. If you are ordering from this company please be aware yo may not receive what you thought you had ordered and it will cost you !

Do not deal with this company and…unreturned funds

Do not deal with this company and Farlows.

Farlows = Sportfish = Farlows travel
Explain to me how by purchasing a Farlows holiday at Farlows shop and being offered pre trip lessons at Sportfish.
Any angler would conclude that Farlows and Sportfish have very ver close relationship in fact the same organisation
Farlows is a part of Sportfish to normal people as Farlows catalogue is the same catalogue as Sportfish.

I can only inform friends and fellow anglers of my experience and let them conclude.

Pay up and I will shut up

SPORTSFISH

I’ve just retired and got back into my fly fishing again after long time. I needed to renew and upgrade my gear, and keep upto date with the latest developments. My Farther used Sportfish along time ago and so did I. I must say that the quality of the products are just as good and service and quality is excellent keep up the good work I will be back 👍🤗
