I had a truly amazing experience with spotfund! I’d never done a fundraiser page before, and creating a spotfund profile was so simple. Plus I love the valuable tips and tutorials that I was given throughout. I’ve already referred spotfund to 3 friends; one who had to empty her savings and charge the rest of an $8,000 emergency veterinarian bill, one is having surgery and will not be paid for her medical leave, and the third friend is having trouble affording her childcare. Great but not quite exactly free
It was great and super easy to use but I wish there would’ve been a clear heads up about the tax when taking out your funds. I was under the impression that the whole process was free and that if people would like to donate to the site then that would be that not a percentage of the money you make would also go to the site. I guess I am just glad I was able to raise a bit more than what I needed so I was at the exact amount I needed when I checked out.

First of all, I’m glad to hear that your fundraising was a success. Please know that *spotfund does not take a percentage of the funds raised by campaign creators. We are funded entirely by the voluntary generosity of donors and organizers through optional tips, which allows the platform to remain free for folks like yourself.
The tax you mentioned are actually processing fees charged by payment processors. Credit card processors will always deduce the standard 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. These fees are deducted before the funds reach us - we then distribute the entirety of the funds raised to the campaign organizer/beneficiary.
These fees are laid out on the top of our homepage and also during the bank linking process.
Kindly note that credit/debit card processing fees are an unavoidable reality when processing payments online and are present across all fundraising platforms worldwide. It is important to note you are not losing out on funds you would have been able to receive elsewhere 🙂

Patently Outstanding Support And Guidance
The support that I have received from Spotfund is World Class, unequivocally second to none. Emails requesting assistance and guidance are often answered within minutes. Absolutely incredible.
I am well positioned to know excellent support: I was a Network Administrator for 43 years and part of that function often entailed supporting the Executive Teams of four Fortune 500 Corporations, Lockheed, Raytheon, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Qualcomm.
At one of the above corporations this support included the entire Executive Team including a $55M/year CEO and the Board of Directors. I know excellent Support as I had to provide it.

I tried to make a donation today, but spotfund insists on a minimum tip even though there is an "other" option for tips. If there's a lower limit, it should be clearly stated.

(Edit : Adding a star as I've researched more about the tips. You can't leave a tip between 0 and 1 dollars. Pick 0 or else you have to tip 1 or more dollars. Also, you can't complete a transaction without entering an email and name (which can possibly be fake, but fields can't be empty even though you can "hide my name" as a checkbox). Also, the company's reputation management people will email to shame and/or intimidate you into changing reviews.)
