Shelving, one of those things most people don’t really give a second thought to, yet it’s something you use every day. What really impressed me was SQUIREL’s genuinely modular approach. Rather than buying a fixed shelving unit and replacing it when your needs change, you start with a solid foundation and simply expand one up, or one out as your workshop or garage grows. It’s such a simple idea, but one that’s been executed brilliantly.

The build quality is excellent too. Everything feels incredibly solid and well engineered, with each shelf capable of holding serious weight. The birch plywood construction gives it a premium feel while still being tough enough for a workshop/shed, and the anti-slip shelf surface is a really thoughtful touch. It’s one of those products you don’t realise you needed until you’ve lived with it.

If you’re looking for garage or workshop storage, I’d highly recommend taking a look at SQUIREL. Genuinely clever, well-designed (in the UK) system that grows with you instead of becoming obsolete, and you can tell it’s been designed by people who actually understand & care how workshops are used.

Steve’s communication throughout the project was spot on—clear, responsive, and genuinely collaborative. From the initial concept through to the final build, his design work and attention to detail really stood out. It’s rare to find someone who not only understands the brief but elevates it, and that’s exactly what happened here.

The finished product was ace—well thought out, beautifully executed, and built to a very high standard. Most importantly, the end customer was absolutely blown away by the quality.

We wouldn’t hesitate to work with Squirel again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for innovative design and top-tier craftsmanship.
