The worst company I have encountered in many years

Firstly I think it would be helpful if Trustpilot introduced a negative star option as 1 star flatters SSEN! This is the worst company I have encountered in many years. They have dug up the road outside my house making it extremely difficult to get my car in and out of my driveway. This was not a mandatory access to their equipment issue. I was asked if they could dig across our drive to make the job easier for them. I said no but in an effort to assist i said they could dig as far as the gatepost - in my absence they then proceeded to dig a further 2.5 feet across the driveway. NEVER make the mistake of believing anything this company and its employees say. To access my drive I have to mount the kerb and drive over a verge. On one side my wheels are within 6 inches of the edge of their trench. My wife simply does not have the confidence to even attempt the manoeuvre. I have spoken to SSEN about this and asked them to put a plate over the unauthorised extension of the trench. They refuse point blank claiming it is not their "policy" as it is a matter of safety - so it's safe driving within 6 inches of the edge of a 3 foot deep flooded trench?????
Every phone call results in a claim someone will ring you or visit you - do not believe this they are merely lies to get rid of you. The reality is someone comes round without your knowledge and takes photos that support their view that there is no problem. Expect to be told how to drive your car, told it is your fault you can't drive properly all wrapped up in a "we are not liable for any damage how ever it is caused" lecture from one of their managers.
If you are unfortunate enough to encounter this company do not engage with them and above all do NOT offer them any help or assistance as your goodwill will be roundly abused as will your property.

Don’t bother - useless company

Awful. No call backs when promised, happy to dig up your road and let you sit with no electricity for hours on end but will argue the due compensation until blue in the face. would not recommend wasting your time with a phone call when you need assistance as no one comes back to you and the resolution letter is worthless. Not happy and still contemplating going to the ombudsman for further investigation should I wish to waste more hours of my time of this company.

Great customer service

I made an enquiry this evening with SSEN regarding an alleged (planned) power cut in our village this month; within less than 5 minutes I had received a reply providing me with the requested information. I wanted to therefore highlight the efficient customer service received. Often people are quick to complain, however when great customer service is given I think it should also be mentioned. Thank you!

"We'll dig a giant hole in your pavement then disappear"

Unbelievably arrogant, unprofessional company who dig giant holes in residential pavements and private driveways without any advance warning or reason provided to residents, before disappearing for over a week, with no sign of them returning to clear up the mess they've caused. The huge obstruction caused to the surrounding pavements and road is a complete hazard to pedestrians and drivers alike. Adding to this are the brazen lies SSE tell when asked when they'll be returning to finish whatever work they're doing. But that's okay because they think they can get away with dragging their heels and treating residents with complete contempt.

Nighttime power cut quickly fixed

Woke up at 2.30 am to a power cut. The street lights were on so guessed it was just our house. Reported it online and got an immediate phone call from SSE. Within half an hour the engineer had arrived and done a temporary fix to get us through the night. At 9.30 two engineers came and replaced our main fuse and some burnt cable. We were kept informed throughout the whole repair process. We even got a call back from the original engineer in the afternoon to check that all was well and that the second crew had arrived that morning, as he was concerned for us over the Christmas break. Outstanding service by all.

Worst customer service ever!

Keep switching off electricity for 8 hours even during the winter in the North of Scotland just to change telegraph poles (this is the 3rd time in the last few months). Customer service is terrible - they just say they are allowed to do this and so will do it, no consideration for older people and those with health problems. They will not deadlock a complaint so I cannot go the Ombudsman. This is why the electricity network should be nationalised.

SSEN and their contractor Utili Lite

SSEN and their contractor Utili Lite. Carried out some work in the highway in Southampton in June, re instalment of the gully channels substandard and collect water, raised concern with SSEN. Initially tried to blame the council for maintenance, (fine before works) and then said they won’t deal with me and is between council and themselves. 5 months on nothing else done. As a tax payer I do not want my money rectifying poor workmanship from private companies if SSEN are trying to shift the blame. Disappointed in SSEN action in rectifying as issue raised on day of completion of works.

When SSE are developing windfarms and…

When SSE are developing windfarms and other infrastructure, they take no notice of legislation, such as the Aarhus Convention, they themselves say they monitor noise levels, when that should be done by the environmental protection agencies. They refuse to negotiate or even discussion, and refuse to set up Community Liaison Groups in a fashion, so the development is finished before they get round to it.

Amazing swift response!

Amazing swift response!
If anyone has an emergency (and they are aged over 60) this is the team to contact as I was shocked at the (unexpected) swift response ,from a UK based call centre, manned by intelligent English speaking operators.
Sent a Royal Mail "signed for" letter to from South Coast area to their Priority services in Perth yesterday late morning.
Not only did they receive letter already but the manager of that department telephoned me today!
This was not an emergency, merely a clarification of where they had obtained my details as they had sent me an unexpected letter.
They only maintain the infrastructure now, sadly, as another company purchased the supply element,

Frequent power cuts

The SSEN network in our location is extremely unreliable and we experience frequent power cuts which mainly appear to be due to a lack of maintenance and resilience measures. The company has a very poor approach to customer service and relies far too heavily on automated systems. We would move our account if other options were available.

Despite the fact that I almost went up on the walkway he still hit and damaged my mirror and of course he ran away. When I reported it with SSEN I've been assured that their insurance company will contact me ... Today MINE i surance company contacted me because he was making a claim...

Excellent service

I woke up yesterday morning to find that we had lost power overnight. I reported the problem via the app. Within a short time I had a response and within a couple of hours we had engineers on site. It turned out to be slightly more involved than originally suspected and in all took about 10 hours to fix. During that period both the engineers on site and the office staff kept me fully informed as to what was happening. I think it is his last point but I appreciate the most as there is nothing more guaranteed to annoy me than waiting around, wondering what if anything was going to happen next. Lastly, can’t fault anyone I dealt with, all had been to charm school

Couldn't have been more helpful.

I contacted SSEN about an urgent de-energisation of my side of the road (6 houses, including my own) and within the week, Pierre had contacted me and immediately gave me his direct line.

From that point on, he and his team moved the schedule around to accommodate our last-minute request.

On the day, the team (Harry, Ashley & Lyche) were friendly and had the power off within 15 minutes. They stayed with our team the entire crane lift to ensure our safety, as well as being able to re-energise us and our neighbours as soon as possible. They even stayed behind afterwards to clean up and make safe some other overhead cables around another scaffolding opposite the shrouding used during the lifts.

Once our scaffolding comes down, the team are prepped and ready to come back to re-tension the cable to our home and all free of charge, as it is a safety aspect of the project.

If we could give zero stars

If we could give zero stars, we would. Never in our lives have we experienced so many, and so many extended planned and unplanned power cuts. We now have to get a generator because the frequent disruption to our lives, loss of mid-cooked food, loss of fridge contents, inability to function in our own home consistently is so outrageous. We’ve now experienced three unplanned cuts including a 19.5 hour outage. What a joke.

Inaccurate quotes

Following communication and clear pictures showing the works required I was issued a quote. Following payment of quote it came to light they had not looked at the job properly and additional 2k required or I could dig a hole myself! I feel the initial low quote was a ploy to get finances. I cancelled the job as it was too much agro and 4 weeks later I'm still awaiting the promised refund. Upon chasing I'm informed refunds take a while ...
