Stages simply give zero stars for their performance and support!
Even after sending in Stages power meter cranks (Shimano Ultegra) several times, they failed to deliver a power meter that delivers the correct values; the wattage readings were just junk numbers, and the service was abysmal. This is why the company went bankrupt or went under.
Now it's part of the Giant Group – if you don't want the hassle, then stay away from this product.

I needed a new battery cover for my Cannondale hologram crank and without which a $400 piece of kit is useless. So I wrote to customer support and literally within an hour had a response and solution addressed from the global customer service director.

Just wasn’t expecting such great service.

Thank you !

Very poor stages cycling gym bikes

My gym changed the Keiser spin bikes , which were excellent, to Stages Cycling bikes. I was told the college had to spend the money in their budget or loose it so bought stages bikes. At first glance they looked promising as there were many adjustments to make the bike fit. But I soon realised that the adjustment mechanisms were extremely poor and very difficult to use. Many girls in the class could not lock the mechanisms as they needed so much force to lock them. Usually , there was movement in the handle bars and seat when using the bike. I can't guarantee this for sure , but on average there has been at least 1 bike not working as the display wasn't working every week, with 4 bikes not working recently. The LED screen is at a fixed angle and cannot be moved and with light coming into the gym room the bikes are set up and the glossy screen used, you cannot read the display at all , without moving your head at an angle to try to read the display. The display itself is very very cluttered as it shows 4 average readings as well as 4 actual readings. Why the average readings show is beyond me and they take up valuable space on the LCD screen. Much better to just show the 4 readings you need and show them at a larger size so that there is a better chance to read them. On the old excellent Keiser bikes, the instructor could say something like add 2 gears up, or add 4 gears up , or drop 4 gears as there was a distinctive setting showing what gear you were in , but on the stages cycle there is a know you rotate up or down , but you don't really know how much you are increasing the resistance on the machine. The Keiser gears were far more easier to use as you could easily see what gear you were in. Also , with the design of the machine , the front flywheel that spins as you cycle is completely open and someone could walk into it or fall against it with serious risk of injury. On the Keiser bikes, this flywheel was protected with a protective cover on it to avoid the risk of injuries. If it was my gym and my choice , I would not purchase these inferior bikes that are difficult to set us and pose a risk of injury with the open flywheel.

Not sure what’s going on a Stages HQ but the signs sure aren’t good.

Be warned. They don’t do customer service very well, in fact they’ll often never respond or they will take weeks to do so.

Not sure how or when they decided that that behavior was acceptable but want to warn any future buyers. Don’t get me wrong, when the product works, it works very well, just hope you never have an issue with it because it likely won’t get fixed in a hurry.

My power meter is 3 months old and already stopped working. I logged a ticket 2 weeks ago and have chased and I still only have the automated acknowledgement email. Very poor quality product and customer service. I won't be buying from them again.

Bought a Stages Power Meter in Feb this year, worked OK for a few rides then stared readings of 1400 Watts before stopping working. New battery installed, meter pairs and calibrates but no output.

Submitted a ticket 6 weeks ago...no response, no way to ask for refund/replacement.

Bought a 4iiii meter at same time for my wifes bike, been working for 8 months with zero issues.

Save yourself the money and disappointment with Stages, Avoid Avoid Avoid

Nonexistent support

I have owned a Stages SB20 smart bike since August 2020 and this year have had several small problems that have accumulated. The first was a power meter fault. The second, a similar issue with the other power meter. The third issue, an inability to prevent the brakes from activating. The bike was unusable with the first issue and has worsened. The online self support has been ineffective and the support email I logged on 7/17/2023 has not been resolved or even responded to by anyone.
This company has entered into an agreement with Precor and it’s unclear if support has been affected. Still, the support for the SB20 has been nonexistent and very disappointing. I would definitely not recommend this company.

I bought a bike I am unable to use

I bought a bike I am unable to use. The SB 20 is just sitting there. The software to connect with it does not work. I tried calling, the number to press to talk to someone is not recognized. The password is correct but it says it isn't. For 2 days have been trying to receive a code to change the (correct) password. No luck. I called during business hours, no response.

Stages have no after sales customer service..…

Stages stationary indoor bike died all of a sudden. Checked all the usual sources of trouble. Tried to phone them on their 3 numbers. No response. Sent an email and two days later I received an email to say a 'docket' had been written for me and I would receive a personal response to my issues with the bike. That was 3 weeks ago. Still waiting, despite sending them two follow-up emails.

Great classes

Great classes. Amazing bikes much better than watt bikes (and way way better than Peloton) - so good I purchased one for home. If you’re into cycling then this is your studio / home brand. Highly recommended

Non existing customer service

No way to contact them. Billing service is from the middle ages. Paypal is good for buying stickers of ebay not 2000 plus bikes. Payments will go wrong as paypal is absolutely crap and guess what no customer service!!!!!

Their customer service is shocking

Their customer service is shocking, you get the ‘We’re happy to help email’ but then you don’t get any help. I spoke to the uk side and they said everything is dealt with by the American side by email. I now have a very expensive clothes horse which is less than a month old.
