The mortgage adviser i dealt with seemed very rude and uptight, i was passed onto her manager and he seemed like an ok guy to deal with.

But he preceded to waste my time as much as her colleague and told me i was not gonna get any mortgage because of whatever whatever and some of my circumstances had effectively “killed what i can borrow” .

He then passed me onto a company that does specialist mortgages (second charge etc) who quoted me a stupendous interest and commission and then kept bugging me to take the deal.

I have no idea why this company has dealt with me in this manner but it is absolutely incompetent and very very bad for people trying to get on the property ladder.

The reason i call them incompetent is because with exactly the same details i went to Firstmortgage.co.uk and James there dealt with my case like an absolute professional and got me a remortgage for the exact amount that i was looking for and i have now completed on this mortgage with an absolute ease.

I secretly want to thank Start because if they weren’t so heart breaking i would have never looked elsewhere!

My experience with Start Mortgages (Start Financial Services) couldn't have been better and it's thanks to my mortgage (and now finance for life) adviser Daniel.

Due to my unusual personal circustamces, like not being on an ILR visa, and having spoken with other mortgage advisers, both independent and from lenders, before bumping into Daniel, I was about to put off the dream of getting on the property ladder.

However, since our first phone call my hopes were renewed.
Along the journey, he emerged as someone extremely knowledgeable, super reasurring and approachable. He listened to my particularities carefully and advised skillfully. Not to mentioned that he was always ready to help and go the extra mile to make me fell more comfortable and confident.

I cannot recommend Start Financial Services enough, and I couldn't be more satisfied.

I'm really looking forward to catching up with him next year to reassess my financial situation and, if necessary, adjust accordingly.

We have moved in to our property in March , but really settled just now.
We worked with Samuel Wheeler , were happy at very beginning. He was nice , polite and called 3 times a day .
Our sytuation was clear and simple :2 adults (48 old), no kids, ready to pay 20% value of this property, Agreement in Principle on our hands .
We have delivered all requested documents . After that Samuel stopped to inform as , contacting, respond ect.
This sytuation took around 1 month(when he finally respond , was really rude) .Then we decided to have conversation ,if he was able to even work on this mortgage with us .After that , he gave us proposition from HSBC (we were interested)and other bank only .
Then again everything stucked for another month .Before X-mas we wanted to change company , but then Abigail(thank you so much ) took our case and has finished it .In total our mortgage took over 5 months .We could do it quicker and save a lot of money .
The company should check their brokers , because ppl like Samuel destroy Start Mortgage reputation .l wont recommend to anyone Start Mortgage .You should learn by my mistake too(a lot of stress and lost money).

I've been using Lee and Abigail at Start for over 8 years now and once again they have managed to find me a great mortgage with a very good rate giving me peace of mind until my next review.

My situation had changed this time round and I was in a tricky spot being a Partner at an LLP with under 12 months and no HMRC submissions as they weren't yet due. Lee and his team kept me in the loop on their challenging journey, took everything they needed from me and my accountant and came back having found a decent lender with a good rate with the added bonus of pulling out some fees to help me complete some renovation works.

Mr Matthew Williams was an absolute disaster! Ignorant about the regulations on visa/settlement status for non-EU spouses of EU citizen, he tried to convince us to leave our advisor, who was laying according to him.
Once presented with the fact he was materially wrong he started behaving arrogantly. A living proof arrogance goes hand in hand with ignorance

Incredibly helpful and considerate team at Start Financial, in particular Joel Bailey-Wilson (Mortgage/Financial Advisor) and Cheyanne Hayes (Administration). As a team, they are extremely knowledgeable, reliable and efficient and I would highly recommend these two individuals in particular. Joel was very patient and took the time to explain things and respond to my questions over what was an 8 month process consisting of a re-mortgage, a new purchase and life insurance policies. Additionally, Cheyanne went above and beyond to resolve any concerns I had and finding solutions to problems as they became known.
I’m incredibly happy with the service received and plan on using this duo again in future transactions.

Ryan Gifford is an absolute wizard getting mortgages. 5 other brokers couldn’t find me what Ryan did. Would have saved me a lot of time if I found him first!
From start to finish he was solving all sorts of problems for me. Definitely wouldn’t of happened if it wasn’t for him!
