Stay away from Statista

Stay away from Statista. The data they provide can be easily googled and ones that aren't are usually "Statista estimates". They do not provide you any explanations or the methods they used to come up with those estimates.

Also, as many people mentioned they do not let you deactivate your account. No one responds to you even if you send them emails and call them. I canceled my credit card so that they cannot charge me for the service that I would never want to use.

I really believe that some sort of legal action needs to be taken against them.

Cannot deactivate/cancel/unsubscribe

They make it impossible to unsubscribe to stop the recurring charges per month.

Their Q&A page has an article that shows how to deactivate, however, the options they show are not there.

When you submit a request to support. No one has ever replied. It's a scam!!!

I signed up, then tried to cancel. Disapointing.

I signed up for an account, and realized with 30-40 minutes that the information that they "provide" is not useful, and that if you want more information, it is over $400 a report. This is a joke. Unless you have a budget over $10k, DON'T use this company. Even then, if you have $10k to spend on a report, you should go somewhere else.
They will not cancel my account because I have downloaded items that turn out be nothing. I will say that this type of information is hard to know ahead of time what you are actually paying for. I put the responsibility on Statista.com to do a better job of educating customers on their website before they sign up. Or better yet, provide a service where someone can submit a request for info, and then come back with a summary, and the cost, and then a payment can be made.

Unethical, money grabbing fraudsters - avoid

This is a scam of a company.

Even after cancelling in Jan 2020 they continued to take £40 a month from my bank account.

I tried to call, email, LinkedIn and no response!

This is a scam that's left a very bitter taste and cost me money. I am considering legal action and contacting Trading Standards about the level of unethical behaviour.

Terrible, would never recommend.

Never Work with Statista

Ordered the subscription didn't get any more information then they had examples absolute waste worst employees don't help. Was asked what information I was looking for and they would work with me. Initial subscription was $468. Was told for the information I was looking for would be an initial $10,000. This company is insane. Never do work with them.
Horrible company representation. They are steeling money.

Update, The site is very misleading I had to have a subscription to search for any data, only to find out they don't offer any information or data for what I needed. They sell it as if they actually have available data. The subscription which was sold as a monthly fee was charged for a full year. I searched what I needed with no returns clicked on a couple files only to find out they have no information for me. The employees said they could help me find what I need if I gave them the information. I emailed a list and was told what I was looking for would be $10,000. They did not help I was unable to use anything in the subscription the data is inaccurate at best. Statista cannot be trusted. Do not Use Statista. Company and employees area a joke.

Could you perhaps give some details regarding what information you were searching for? We do offer different levels of subscriptions based on a few different factors such as private/personal, corporate/student, but the situation you describe does not fit what we would offer to an individual searching for information.

Misleading title of pay-to-see content

The titles, of paid-to-see data, are misleading. One example can be: "Average rent price of residential property in selected cities in Germany from 2015 to 1st quarter 2020 (in euros per square meter)*" BUT the content show only for 2015, 2019 and Q1-2020. Therefore there is a lie in the title of the statistics available (which we cannot see if we didn't pay). And it is just one example from a lot of others.

We always include the source material and data with each chart to make sure our users have access to further information as required. This could have been a choice by the researcher to keep the chart as clean as possible, but we would have to see the chart in question to be sure.

Useless without the corporate account

I purchased a single account to access their statistics but every statistic I need turns out to be "premier" so this is useless unless I want to spend thousands of dollars for a corporate account. I immediately got emails and phone calls from "account managers" who were just trying to upsell me to the corporate account, they had no interest in helping me find the data I was looking for. Once one of them realized I wasn't going to purchase the corporate account he suggested I email customer support and ask for a refund since it had only been 2 days, but customer support was of no help either. They refused to give me a refund since I had downloaded one of the graphs. Save your money!

Statista copies your data & sells it...

Statista copies your company's publicly available data and sells it, claiming that they have "evaluated the study". I can guarantee you that this is not true. I've found data that our company has reported, which we've later retracted and corrected. Statista is nothing more than a copy & paste machine behind a paywall. Next time you're searching for data, I suggest you remove Statista from your google results (-site:statista.com).

I simply have a free account

I simply have a free account, and every time I try to see the source of some statistics I get told to login or register for a free account, despite being logged in. I’ll log in again and it leads me nowhere. If I can’t even look at the information that’s supposed to be free, that certainly doesn’t motivate me to pay for a subscription so that I can be refused information that I pay for next. This company needs to fix their website before Statista becomes another economic statistic.

Worst reporting database out there

Worst reporting database out there. They don't offer full cases --> they only give you access to small charts for a $950 yearly cost. They steal your money by requiring an upfront yearly fee. THEN they tell you they'll refund you because the service didn't work, and wait 4 weeks to return your email and never refund you because you didn't get it dealt with in time.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT USE.

We offer a subscription-based service, and we clearly state before completing your registration that you will be charged for one year. The situation that you mention with the refund is not our policy, so we would have to review your individual case to understand what happened.

Not able to deactivate account, continued charging me - avoid like the plague and find a better option

I was thoroughly unimpressed with the quality and content of their data, but that is honestly the least of my problems with Statista. They have hidden fine print terms when you purchase a Premium account saying that you need to give them 30 days' notice before deactivating your Premium services. But they ALSO have instructions for deactivating your account that require you to dig through your advanced settings to perform a simple action like deactivating your account. These instructions are also incorrect, and there is no option to deactivate your account where the instructions say there should be. So then I made multiple attempts to contact customer service and received nothing but a voicemail and no response. They make it so deactivating your account is harder than passing a constitutional amendment through congress, and they are charging you the whole time. I FINALLY got a response from a customer service representative who told me that they won't give me a refund after two months of being charged while I was trying to deactivate my account and also acknowledging that I had not used any of my Premium features for several months. I cannot believe that a company that markets itself as a legitimate and trusted source of information would conduct business in such a sketchy fashion. They do not do business in good faith, and they are literally worse than the shadiest used car salesman. What they do is nothing short of theft.
