Awful experience - terrible management

Clever is willfully ignorant of all the issues in their houses, they leave mould and major leaks for years and attempt to string out complaints to the end of your lease in order to avoid handling any issues. Avoid renting from clever at any cost.

A big thank you to Richard and Millie…

A big thank you to Richard and Millie for helping us sell our house! Their communication was excellent throughout the whole process, and they were always happy to answer any questions we had. We’d highly recommend them!

Absolutely diabolical!

Absolutely diabolical!
Im a landlord of over 25 years in London and had to act as guarantor for my daughter last year and this year.
Totally incompetent last year. I had to complete it no less than three times as they kept telling me I hadn't completed then I had but sent it to the wrong place etc. A total nightmare.
This year imagine my horror when I had the same agent, Sofia D’Alessio conducting the process., firstly saying I need to complete the application, then telling me I had, then telling me to forward more info, then 'instructing' ( yes 'instructing' )me to resend somewhere else
I had enough and told them not to contact me again.
I have dealt with letting agents as a landlord for over 25 years and this agent is the most incompetent I have ever come across. Wouldn't last 5 minutes in London.
Avoid like the plague!

Glad we took a chance …

We decided to sell our house through Richard at Clever as we had a really bad experience with a different well known estate agent and we ended up terminating the contract with them! Richard had reached out to us a few weeks before we came to this decision. I explained to him the awful experience we had with the other company and we were just going to take the house off the market for a while. Richard came to see us and he actually listened to us and asked us to give him 6 weeks and if we weren’t happy with how things were going we could just leave. Well what can I say , I’m so glad we took a chance on Richard and Millie who run the selling side of Clever, they were amazing, they went above and beyond to give us the best experience and we did sell our house. We hope to never move again but if we did they would definitely be who we sold with as I don’t think any other company could come close to the amazing service they gave us and we will be forever grateful to Richard and Millie. Thank you guys .

Clever? More like Moron!

Despite the name this agency is not clever at all and I truly do not understand how they are still up and running to this day.

I have heard several negative cases (double booking people, failing to request documents then cancelling on people, overcharging, blatant rudeness and disrespect, the list goes on!!!!) in regards to clever but decided to give them a go, let me tell you do I regret it!!!!!

They cancelled my booking (At fault of their own) several months before I was due to move in then demanded I pay them a rebooking fee.First their reasoning was that my documents weren’t complete, then the second that my guarantor could not meet their criteria (surely this should of been decided before they requested a deposit?)

The whole application process is excessive, rigid and redundant and will cause you and your guarantor an extreme amount of stress. With this in mind I would like to highlight just how discriminative and inaccessible “Clever’s” student properties are. If you are from a low income background it is virtually impossible for you the meet their guarantor criteria.

The performance of staff at this establishment is extremely poor, particularly with Sofia, the office manager. Not once have I experienced professionalism nor effective customer service, including the basic principle of communication! Any Information that you attempt to convey is repeatedly not fully received nor processed by any of these people. They do not wish to assist you or make your life any easier. There appears to be no communication between colleagues meaning you are constantly being fed misinformation, leading to further difficulties

I would like to expand that there is no opportunity to discuss these challenges as “Clever” do not have any type of complaints procedure (Which I’m pretty sure is illegal under the Management regulation handling rules 2015)

But please do use clever if you wish for constant harassment via phone and email, which is even more distressing when clever attempt to justify the emails as automated. It’s very clear that receiving personalised emails containing your information is not indicative of an automated system.

Remain mindful whilst reading the reviews for this place, they were subject to a name change last year, ( to try save their reputation) which has hidden the truth about this establishment. Many of the 5* reviews for “clever” are based on brief property viewings, which very obviously yet again does not depict the organisation’s true nature. It is rumoured amongst students that this company will often face-to-face pressure people into giving them a 5 star review.

PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Incorrect Listings.

They can't even list their properties correctly on rightmove or zoopla. It's either dishonesty or incompetence, not sure which is worse. But if they can't even do that honestly and correctly, I certainly wouldn't trust them to be my landlord's managing agent.

If you search for properties that aren't student accomodation or houseshares, properties from Clever Estate Agents still show up despite the fact they are both houseshares and student properties.

It seems they are named 'Clever' but it's clearly just an name and not a description of their organisation or their level of competence.

Beware of Clever

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with CLEVER, which I feel compelled to share. This company's handling of my accommodation booking was not only unprofessional but also unethical. They abruptly cancelled my booking without any prior discussion and refused to refund my deposit, contrary to the terms of our contract. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue amicably, my calls and communications were systematically ignored.

Worse still, upon sharing my story on social media, I discovered four other individuals overnight who had suffered similarly at the hands of CLEVER. This pattern of behavior points to a concerning trend of deceitful practices. It's clear that my experience is not an isolated incident but part of a broader, disturbing practice.

For those considering CLEVER, I urge caution. Their operations appear to involve unethical cancellation practices and a blatant disregard for customer rights and deposits. The discovery of other victims only amplifies the need for awareness and caution. Please, consider this review and the shared experiences of others before making any commitments.

The name 'clever' is utterly ironic

The name 'clever' is utterly ironic. Having lived in a clever property for almost a year I can surely say that they a absolute nightmare. Within 6 months we have had an various issues such as windows in property causing mold, faulty lights, faulty boiler, unclean when first entered, a nightmare to get the keys off of in the first place and to top it all not forwarding any of my council tax which we pay through clevers portal as stated in tenancy agreement. When ringing clevers office to talk or discuss issues you will be waiting for a overdrawn amount of time with usually rude, blunt or vague answers to you're complaints but not all the time they're some good people who will do their best with your complaints. Overall this agency is a total and utter shame who I will never be with again id rather sofa surf.

Fantastic service

Excellent service provided by this real estate agency. Available over the phone. Very friendly and polite. All pictures reflected my visit. No artifical pictures or exageration. And very reactive and efficient people.
