Booked accommodation via Stayz /VRBO website in November to check in in March. Was charged 100%. In December decided to cancel. No such option was on app for my chosen property. Two lengthy calls to c... See more

Do not book through these people
We booked a 3 bedroom apartment with views through Stayz for a recent family holiday in Melborne (from NZ)
As soon as we made the booking we were redirected to an outfit called MadeComfy and told they would be managing the booking.
This cost us dearly - to summarize our experience with MadeComfy through booking with Stayz (I would steer clear of them both)
On arrival only one set of keys for five adults
Remote control was missing for lounge aircon unit meaning we had no aircon as advertised through Stayz
Advertisement said we would have access to gym and pool area - this was not so
I wasted most of my phone roaming package and a lot of my holiday time speaking to MadeComfy staff who thanked me for reaching out but seemed unable to help
Finally we were properly acknowledged by customer experience team but this was at the end of our stay - it was too little too late.
MadeComfy in fairness did refund us 15% of the total cost but their incompetency negatively impacted a family holiday we had been saving for all year - we were paying top dollar for our stay
Feedback for Stayz and MadeComfy:
1) If remote control is lost for aircon or tv - replace it before next paying guest comes in
2) be transparent with your marketing- we were misled about facilities that would be available to us
3) if guests lose sets of keys, don’t do nothing about it and tell the next guests they have to stay a minimum of 60 days before a second set of keys can be issued - this is a lie - the truth is you never bothered to replace the lost keys

Beware Using Website to Book Accommodation
I booked accommodation through STAYZ website only to find that I have been grossly overcharged with my credit card being debited. Worst part about it is that STAYZ deny that the booking is in their system - even though I received a confirmation email from STAYZ.
STAYZ support staff were arrogant, rude and dismissive.
Do not, I repeat, do not use these scammers.

Impossible to delete account
Been trying to delete my account for weeks; it is impossible. If you log in and attempt to delete your profile via vrbo (parent company) it states you cannot delete your account unless you do it via Stayz. When you in via the Stayz app, it does not allow you to delete the account either. It’s infuriating Tried the help section. No help updated 2feb24: the response from stayz below is useless; I’ve tried this. If you would like to assist then contact me and resolve it

Stayz won't refund Host cancellation - Fee's For No Service
Had to give 1 star to write this post. The Host cancelled our reservation at 43 Hennessey Loop
Dunsborough, WA 6281 the day before we arrived as there were 3 x under 25 y/o guests. Reservation was in my name 55 y/o Mum ("Leavers" chaperone). Host said she would refund but will keep a $200 cleaning fee (thats stealing)! Host stopped communicating and kept all the money. Contacted Stayz to request full refund & complain re: age discrimination. Received msg via App saying we would get a full refund. 10 days later no refund (~$2.5K), so called their "customer service" 1800 number and spoke to a person in Phillipines who said we would get full refund and she will email dispute details, conversation ref & complaint ref to my email address. 4 days later still no communication from Stayz. We then disputed it as a fraudulent transaction on our Credit Card through Com Bank Aus, who accepted the dispute and acquired a FULL refund from Stayz on 11 Jan 2024.
~2 month wait for refund & no apology from Stayz. All one can expect from a business owned in Malaysia, platform based in Texas & "Help Centre" based in Philippines. We will never use Stayz again, "fees for no service" & dodgy hosts.

Dodgy owner and Stayz no help
Owner of a 'forest' house/flats in Wollongong, was trying to get more money out of me after I left by lying about damage and I chatted to Stayz to say I want to make a complaint and they said they would talk to the owner and get back to me and i never heard anything back. Won't be using them again.

133 Collins at apartment 103
We booked an apartment through stayz and I am disgusted this was one of their listings. The owner outright lied about the amenities , no heating ,( it was freezing) no proper bedding for extra guests , not clean, and much much more. Spoiled our weeks holiday. I am disgusted. Never had this problem with stayz in south Australia.

Just a third party agent - save money and book direct
Booked through stayz and received confirmation. When we had an issue (hadn't received the house address and check in info) Stayz said it was all done through an agent and they didn't even have the address of the property on file. May as well have gone direct as ended up dealing with a third party anyway. Stayz could do nothing at all to help other than say they would phone the third party which is what I was doing anyway.

My booking got canceled
My booking got canceled. this is not good enough!! How can I have any confidence or security in Travelling with you if you’re going to cancel. Ok you’ve given me plenty of notice and a refund but I paid thousands of dollars and you had my money for months. What is the point of me making a booking with you guys if you are just going to cancel it.
And you have had my money for some time now. How are you going to compensate me for this? Not impressed at all with this service. Highly disappointed actually.
** hasn’t responded to any of my messages either** app deleted!!

Stayz didn't publish my negative…
Stayz didn't publish my negative review. I booked a villa in Mooloolaba for our family holiday. Initially when I booked the owner said the price was wrong and I would have to pay more, I paid, this in itself wasn't the problem. However when we got to the villa it was very small, very cramped, facilities not very nice and certainly not worth what we had paid. I put a negative review and Stayz hasn't published it. The place has suspiciously few reviews and I assume Stayz is making sure not to publish the other negative ones that the place must have received. Not happy with this experience and Stayz don't seem to provide a customer feedback place that I can email, just chat ("busy") or phone up.

300% price increase after booking paid
I am very disappointed in the Stayz booking platform and customer service team. I normally use Airbnb (over 200 bookings), but for a future trip to Canada I decided to try the Stayz site.
I am originally from Canada but live in Australia and don’t get to see my best friends very often because we live across 3 different countries. We decided to get together in June 2024 and I found a suitable accomodation on Stayz. I booked this with the owner and paid the full cost of the booking. The owner wrote back to say they would provide more information about the checkin closer to the date.
With the accomodation confirmed, my friends and I made travel plans to come to Ontario from Australia, Canada and the USA with our young families.
Then yesterday, a few months after the booking was confirmed and paid in full, the owner messaged me to tell me that they had used the incorrect pricing on the stayz website and the price was going up from $280 per night to $950 per night because our booking was in the “hot season”. This is over a 300% increase in price. I tried to politely explain that I had already booked and paid, so they would need to honour the price. Plus the booking was only for a week so they could charge this increased fee for all other bookings that summer. They said I had to either pay more or cancel my booking. I refused to cancel and said they would have to cancel if they could not provide the agreed service, thinking this would at least allow me to leave a review so other customers would be aware that this is how that property owner operates. My booking was cancelled and I was not given an option to leave a review.
I messaged the Stayz customer service team but the representative I spoke with didn’t seem to understand the situation. She kept telling me that the owner could set their own price on the website (which I understand) but didn’t understand that I had already paid for the booking.
This is my first experience with stayz and I will not be using your site again. I am now without accomodation for our trip and incredibly disappointed with the entire experience with Stayz.
I hope Stayz can have a look at the way their “book with confidence guarantee” works in practice, because it does not live up to what they advertise.

Very disappointing
Very disappointing. Despite booking accommodation in December for a family reunion in Australia, with people travelling from the UK, Queensland and NSW, the host cancelled within 2 weeks stating 'strata repairs'. However the accommodation is still listed as available for those dates!
With such short notice. There was nothing else available even remotely close to our budget and our trip to Sydney had to be diverted at great expense, disruption, and flight changes. No compensation, and seemingly no penalty to the host.
We will not be recommending Stayz to anyone!

Stayz vs AIRBNB. Stayz provided no assistance with an unsafe house.
We recently booked a home in Woolwich, NSW through Made Comfy. The booking was made through the Stayz platform. The listing spoke about a well appointment, elegant home. On arrival, the rear door was damaged and could not be closed or locked. The rear screen door was also damaged and could not be locked. We were unable to lock the property each night. We contacted Made Comfy numerous times but they did not organise a locksmith to repair the door, making the home unsafe (we had young children staying at the house). They were dishonest in their communications, promising repairs which did not occur. It is also concerning that Stayz didn't offer alternative accommodation due to the lack of security at the home. There were other appliances at the property which was damaged or inoperable including the outdoor furniture, bbq, dishwasher, blocked sink in laundry, broken rangehood, damaged furniture and generally the house was in presented in a dirty condition. Looking at the reviews on Trustpilot, I would suggest that people reconsider booking with MadeComfy and Stayz. We also had another booking with AIRBNB where the key was not in the lock box. AIRBNB were great to deal with and assisted by paying for emergency accommodation until another property could be booked. Two accommodation companies with totally different responses when sometimes things go wrong.

Caution with Stayz.
I have been charged by Stayz for damage that was not my responsibility. They were unable to provide any direct evidence or proof that I was responsible for the damage but just went ahead and debited my credit card. This was despite requesting a pre-condition report providing evidence.
Be very careful if you leave a credit card with this agency.

Disappointed could not receive a refund/partial refund on accomodation that I had I was unfortunately not able to attend. The host was particularly not flexible or understanding to my circumstances. I also gave about 8 months notice which I would have thought they could get someone else to rent the property

Dodgy owner tries bait and switch
Booked online and paid 10.400. The owner called me the next day to say the [property was not available on the dates we booked. The owner then emailed me an alternate property she said she had which was far inferior. I told her we would not take it and made other arrangements, She said if I went on the Stayz site and cancelled we would get a full refund - we got 40% back. I went to Stayz complaints and they said that her email offering an alternate property did not show the property I booked was not available for us to take up. Fortunately my bank refunded the balance to us eventually. Do NOT use Stayz - they are as bad as some of their non reputable owners/
Owners will be on property
Maybe on your add state that you actually live in the home.
I came for a night away to zone out. extremely misleading.
Terrible
Terrible. Stayz aka VRBO make it impossible to be contacted. I had a complaint with place we stayed in called Pepidune in Peppermint Grove Beach W.A. In the end I took my complaint to Consumer Protection who say that they hear lots of negative comments about Stayz. Avoid folks. Also avoid Pepidune.
Don't use Stayz
Don't use Stayz. It charges whatever it wants, in spite of and above the original agreement. It gives false information. Terrible business.
Go direct
Stayz was originally Australian but over the last couple of year is now a subsidiary of Expedia an American company which owns vrbo, homeaway, stazy, 23 brands that I have found! These sites have set themselves up to make it very hard to speak to anyone directly, either within their company or to the property owner. My advice to anyone looking at booking on these websites is to google the property name or address of the house you are looking at. I have found a lot of the homes have their own website or are listed on a number of sites. Going directly with an owner is usually the best way of finding out what you need to know, and much cheaper! The fees and charges from these platforms is now a huge percentage for doing nothing!!!!
