I used this company to handle the customs clearance of my car in Portugal, and the entire experience was absolutely outstanding.
Before starting the process, I was provided with clear and detailed information about each step, including all expected costs. Throughout the process, my manager responded quickly to all my questions and gave me full attention and support.
Even after the process was completed, the manager reached out to check if the inspection went well — which truly impressed me. This was by far the best customer service experience I’ve had in Portugal. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a smooth and professional car import process!

Context: a 30min. consultation to evaluate relevance and assess possible next steps with Step Inside. Nothing outstanding that we cannot find somewhere else.
The approach is friendly but constantly reminding there is another appointment with someone else after you...
Have been an expatriate 12 years in the past (Belgium and Germany) and have been in touch with much more useful upfront consultations with consultants who really became partners.

It is unfortunate that your review seems to be based on the fact that, for this specific type of income, there are no legal ways to reduce taxation. The rules are very clear in the law and in the applicable tax treaties, and there is no possible loophole to change the outcome.
We believe our consultation provided considerable value: in just 30 minutes, we carried out multiple calculations in Excel with clear scenarios, discussed tax efficiency alternatives regarding your other income streams, and followed up with a detailed email including a full summary and copies of the calculations.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion and expectations. We regret that our service did not exceed your very high expectations. However, we respectfully note that the suggestion you could have obtained the same level of accuracy online is unlikely, given the significant lack of reliability still found in AI chatbots and unverified sources.
We would also like to emphasize that the notes and conclusions we shared with you during the meeting are firmly grounded in our professional knowledge of the Portuguese tax legislation, and fully aligned with the applicable legal framework. In fact, during that same meeting you acknowledged that our analysis diverged entirely from the preliminary insights you had obtained using AI tools. That recognition highlights precisely the value we aim to deliver: offering clients professional, lawful, and reliable solutions, often going beyond what is available from online or automated sources. This is why we were surprised by your subsequent remark suggesting that our input could be found elsewhere, since, by your own account, our guidance provided a distinct and more accurate perspective.

Trustworthy, attentive partners for our taxes
My wife and I connected with Step Inside Portugal through Expacity webinars and their professional services directory. We wanted to get everything right for our first time filing taxes in Portugal as new immigrants from the USA. The professionals at Step Inside Portugal supported us through all the steps, and made everything clear and easy for us. In the end our finances were ridiculously simple for our first year, but there were nuances around Portuguese law for how to report our income that we would not have understood without expert guidance. We lived on savings for the first half of the year, and then on distributions from my State retirement plan's investment account (which we can draw on after separating from employment but before officially retiring). We were grateful for their thorough questions about how the retirement plan's investment fund is managed to be certain it was categorized correctly on our return.
In short: you are in good hands with Step Inside Portugal! They are expert professionals who will answer all of your questions and make all the nuances clear to you. Communications were excellent and trouble-free, primarily by e-mail. I'm sure they take the same care with all of their services, and bring the same high level of conscientious expertise.
