I had a fantastic experience when attending a gin tour at Stockport Gin. Paul was very knowledgeable about the history of brewing gin and what, in his opinion, were the best botanicals and ways to blend it. It was a very entertaining tour with a good amount of gin to sample. I loved hearing about how the brewery was created. It was clear to see that Paul and his wife have worked very hard to create their brand which added a personal touch to the tour. The gin I sampled was lovely and for someone who hates pink gin, I was pleasantly surprised by their version. It was not full of sugar and sickly sweet like most shop bought ones. Instead it had a slight pink hue to it which Paul explained was due to the way the strawberries, raspberries and pomegranates were diffused into the gin. My absolute favourite gin of the night however had to be the gunpowder gin which was a standard Navy strength and delicious! Safe to say, a bottle came home with me. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the tour which superceded one I'd recently attended in the Lake District. For anyone wishing to attend a gin tour with an edge and sample some lovely gin, I would highly recommend a visit. He even does classes where you can make your own gin! All the best in your endeavours Paul and don't forget that a cucumber blend would go down a treat!
