Stone Depot and Stone Centre - stay away!

Note Stone Depot and Stine Drpit is the same company that trades under two names to hook in more unsuspecting customers. I found them to be terrible. We lost our 60% deposit ($3000), received no stone and they refused to give us a refund. Extremely dodgy and so think we ever were going to get our stone so ai walked away.. We paid for transport and delivery of Atlantic grey pool coping. It never arrived and when I asked for a refund they kept vaguely saying they would enquire about what percentage I would have to pay for restocking. They were insisting on full payment from transport from warehouse to our home but given they could provide no evidence it had arrived at the warehouse I was not prepared to lose even more money. They kept giving vague comments like we expect it will arrive at the warehouse tomorrow, then any hour now.., etc. So lost $3000 and I am seeking a refund as have not received stone. So dodgy. If I had more time I would fully pursue these crooks via consumer affairs Victoria or ACCC.

We recently purchased Tundra Grey…

We recently purchased Tundra Grey Marble from Stone Depot for a total cost of $7,200 ($111.95/sqm) plus $450 for delivery. Upon receiving the pavers, we noticed visible damages and broken pieces, with at least 15 pieces affected. We immediately sent photos of the damages to Amit in mid-December 2022, before we left for an overseas trip. However, we did not receive any response from Stone Depot, so we had to send a follow-up email in mid-January 2023.

As we were preparing for the installation, we discovered that we needed an additional 40 pieces of the marble urgently. To avoid any further delays, we opted to pick up the 40 pieces at the Stone Depot warehouse ourselves, which required us to hire a professional to carry each 20kg piece for a total cost of $250. Upon receiving the pieces, we discovered that at least 20 of them were damaged, chipped, or unsatisfactory, as confirmed by our installer.

We reached out to Amit at Stone Depot multiple times via email and phone to ask for assistance, and he advised us to return all the damaged pieces to the warehouse for replacement. However, when we arrived at the warehouse, no one was there to assist us with unloading and loading the replacement pieces, as promised by Amit. Despite this, we managed to unload and inspect the replacement pieces, but we found that half of them were worse than the original ones. As a result, we had to load half of the original pieces back into the van and take them with us.

Our 16-year-old son had to carry the 20+ 20kg pavers himself so that the installation could start on time. We expressed our frustration and disappointment with the Manager of Stone Depot about the significant amount of time, effort, and cost we had spent picking up and unloading the damaged pavers and the lack of assistance from their end. However, the Manager simply advised us to go back to the warehouse and pick up the replacement pieces.

Lastly, we were told that if we wanted to return the damaged pavers for a refund, we would have to pay a 25% restocking fee.
