Just finished 13 years with Storage Mart Chapel Road due to retirement. Rob and his team are second to none on customer service. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
Manhattan Mini Storage — A Master Class in Disrespect and Incompetence
Do yourself a favor and store your belongings literally anywhere else.
My experience with Manhattan Mini Storage was an ongoing nightmare of contradictions, dismissiveness, and zero accountability. From billing to termination to the auction process, nothing was ever clearly explained — and when I asked questions, I got vague, evasive non-answers designed to run out the clock, not actually help me.
The staff? Outright disrespectful. I was told I couldn’t use the restroom after 6 p.m. — at a facility that was still open. I had to go over staff’s heads and contact management myself just to be treated like a paying customer with basic human needs. And even after that? Still made to feel like an inconvenience every single time I tried to access what was mine.
But here’s what I’ll never forget: they threw away my property — multiple times — without my permission, without notice, and without any apology. Property that I had left outside my locker. Gone. Just like that. No accountability, no explanation, nothing.
And when it came to the auction of my unit? I never received a clear itemized accounting of what was sold, what it fetched, or how any proceeds were applied to my balance. They expect you to just trust them — a company that had already proven, repeatedly, that it could not be trusted.
Manhattan Mini Storage is disorganized, careless, and contemptuous of the people paying their bills. They will confuse you, ignore you, discard your belongings, and dare you to do something about it.
Stay far away.

It started with 2 great conversations with Cecil at the Home Base. Hey Cecil well talk again. Then I met Syed at the Burlington Facility. A great man and now a friend. I spoke with Heather at Illinois Warehouse? Another Fantastic conversation. Then I spoke with Bobby and Kimberly at the Storagemart Headquarters. Very top notch people. Honest and genuine all of them. They all had a positive impact. I remember every one of their names in a few short conversations. All are added value with this company. Great personal people. Thanks for the genuine honesty.

Warning! If you are planning to use their storage for an extended period of time, don't use this company. They will repeatedly raise your rates. The contract says they can do it, and they will! I have two units and one is very large and full, so I can't easily move it, so I am stuck. My rates have escalated to a ridiculously high number way outside the market pricing, but I'm stuck until I can move out (which is the next 90 days). Very deceitful agreement!!

Idania was fantastic and very helpful. Great service as always. Clean, well-maintained facilities with a great indoor climate. Highly recommend this location.

Arbitrary rate increases. Exorbitant late fees. Unhelpful/rude employees. Need I say more.
RUN , don't walk, away from this facility.
One lousy company from the get-go!

I was charged for insurance which I had specifically declined. Too bad. This was a great location and I would have been a long term renter, until I realized my credit card was being abused.

Storagemart Maidstone- our first time using them. It was ok when we started but 3rd month upwards we have inccured costs which the staff can't even explain. My husband tried talking to them to understand what the costs are and one of the guys there CUT THE PHONE ON HIM!!! I would NEVER recommend. Terrible service!!

My child rented a unit from the cookingham location and was given a price when signing the contract. They have been being charged for a climate control unit when they dont have one and storage mart won't give them an explanation why they are being over charged and won't refund what they paid over. We will be seeking advice from an attorney if it's not resolved. Who knows how many others they have done this to.

Lady named Kay was rude and not helpful what so ever. I’ve been charged for climate control which I don’t have. Basically told me to just switch to a different unit and that she couldn’t do anything else. This is at the 64155 location.

I called and spoke with Raevon, because i had a question about an online special, and she told me that she could help me. Her positive energy really revived me because I was having a very difficult time finding a good unit. She reworked the numbers and realized that the online price that they had given me was incorrect. She also gave me a free lock, which was invaluable. I love talking with people who seem too enjoy their job. Storage Mart, you all have a great asset having Raevon as a part of your team, and Raevon, thank you for your wonderful customer service.

Better to use a local independent storage company than this greedy U.S. conglomerate. They fee you heavily when you move in with fake insurance coverages, locks, account fees etc. Then after just a few months they start hiking the prices. The prices increase about 33% a shot. That's a lot. They try to hike your insurance coverage higher as well without your knowledge. The place at 1020 Wonderland Rd S. in London Ontario they lurk around and spy on you when you come to access your locker so they can see what you are doing. The customer portal where you view your account and pay is terrible and getting access is hard if you can get in at all.

A friend used this place so I figured I'd try it. Due to my work hours I decided to book a unit online. I was booking at the 555 Trethewey Dr location.
Online it showed a unit which was 5x5x8 25sq ft for $6.24 a week. This was a bonus price.
So I went ahead with it. After I paid for it and got a email it noted. The unit was $12.47 a week. $29 admin fee. $24 door lock. Then tax comes out to $75.63
To say I was shocked was putting it mildly. Yes I was pissed and called them right away. Told them to cancel the unit. The guy had to put me through to a woman who was not nice at all.
She started going through all the fees and I really did not want to listen to that, she kept going with her explanation no matter I kept telling her to stop and just refund my payment. She kept pushing so yup ny now I'm even more pissed and telling her I dont want to hear it just refund my money.
She yelling for my card number then went on about lecturing me again. I hung up on her and figure I will go to the unit and speak to someone. She calls me back loosing it. Starts screaming at me so I hung up again. She calls back still screaming if I want my money back. But she's still freaking out so I cant get a word in there to give her the card number. Shes yelling about me not getting the admin fee back. Not sure why no admin did anything for me. Maybe its admin fee for being stupid enough to want a unit there. Thats juat a cash grab. She finally yells out the last 5 digits and asks if that is the number I said yes and she hung up.
No admin fee should be charged. The person inputting the info it's their job to do that. Cash grab.
Unbelievable experience.

Daryl at Wicksteed Ave walked through everything and made it easy to understand the facilities and the agreement. He gave a really good tour of the facilities and helped me make the choices for our unit. Friendly and thorough. It doesn't get better than that.

Good initial price and good facilites but after a month or two the price doubled. I wasn’t aware of this, and it wasn’t very transparent in the contract.

We spoke to several people at storagemart and everyone was extremely helpful and professional. Neville and Tristan ensured we were allocated the correct storage and took into consideration our needs at all times. We actually cancelled our storage due to our accommodation being ready before time and the cancellation went very smoothly with a refund being issued with no qualms. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated their help. 10/10 for customer service.

I was quite happy with the service that we got when we first rented our unit in Norwich, but after the second month, the price went up and we was not told about this. I thought they should’ve told me that the prices was going up not just put the price up. I’m very disappointed in this therefore I will start looking for somewhere else. It actually went up twice on the 1st of August and then again on the 1st of September.

I rented a small unit in Walton and was there for over a decade going from the old company who where brilliant to the new owners Storage Mart. I am living overseas and wanted to store some belongings securly in the UK while abroad. The staff there are amazing however Storage Mart have no regard for long term renters, if you are looking for long term storage, find better, there are many in the area. The rent kept on being increased to the point I worried every time I received an email, add to this the forced an over priced insurance on top of the rental cost, I had private insurace that I constantly had to prove existed. After more than a decade of this, I flew back to the UK and closed my account to go to a better store. The amazing on site staff I feel very sorry for as they run things very well but the American owners do not care about customers. There are other storage companies that I would look at before signing up with Storage Mart for anything longer than a month. I feel very let down as I was a very loyal customer for a very long time, always paying on time. Very happy to have left and not to have the constant worry about a simple storage unit. If they respond to this, ignore what they write, this company really do not care about customers only customers money. As predicted there is a reply, beware storing here and do not agree to the over priced insurance they try to force onto you.

I rented their largest unit with the plan to keep it for a couple of years. On the 2nd month they raised the rent 23%. They feel that it's perfectly acceptable to do that. Everyone employee there has the same response, "The other storage companies do the same thing" If I had read the reviews for this company more carefully, I would have never used them (unethical business practice in my opinion)
