Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 85 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers reported significant issues with products, including items arriving defective, breaking down shortly after purchase, or not functioning as expected. People frequently struggled with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, rude, and difficult to reach, often leading to a telephone runaround Reviewers also faced problems with orders, such as items not arriving, incorrect products being sent, or orders being duplicated without resolution. Some people were satisfied with their product, noting that their laptop worked well upon arrival, and a few customers experienced helpful support when resolving technical issues with their printers. However, the overall sentiment indicates widespread dissatisfaction with both product reliability and the responsiveness of customer support.

HP+ account lock disabled my printer without warning.

I am sharing this review to warn potential customers about how HP printers and HP+ work in practice.

My HP ENVY 6022e printer was remotely blocked with the status “Unable to print”, despite being fully functional, connected to the internet, and visible in my HP account.

The printer could not print anything at all, including test pages. This was not a hardware failure.

After contacting HP Support, it was confirmed that the issue was caused by an HP+ account-level authorization lock. The printer itself was confirmed to be fully functional, but printing was blocked due to cloud-side restrictions controlled by HP.

During support interactions, my case was initially and incorrectly treated as an “ink issue”, and I was repeatedly instructed to purchase genuine HP cartridges, even though printing was completely blocked and no cartridge error existed.

HP Support later confirmed in writing that once a printer is set up with HP+, it becomes permanently locked into that program after a short initial period. After that point, it is not possible to return to regular mode, and the printer will only function fully with genuine HP cartridges.

This means that:
– a working printer can be rendered unusable remotely,
– basic printing can be blocked by account or cloud authorization issues,
– users permanently lose the freedom to choose ink cartridges after HP+ activation.

I was not clearly aware at the time of purchase or setup that choosing HP+ would result in a permanent loss of functionality and choice, unrelated to hardware condition.

I strongly advise anyone considering an HP printer to carefully review the implications of HP+ before activating it, especially if the printer is intended for essential personal or professional use.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with HP

I received an HP monitor with missing parts and a broken packaging seal, which immediately raised red flags about whether this was used, returned, or improperly handled. For a company as large as HP, this level of quality control failure is shocking.

To make matters worse, customer service was completely unhelpful. Instead of taking responsibility or offering a quick resolution, I was met with scripted responses, deflection, and zero urgency. No ownership, no empathy, and no real solution.

Buying new hardware should not feel like a gamble. Between the damaged packaging, missing components, and poor customer support, this has been a frustrating waste of time.

I expected far better from HP and will never be purchasing anything from them again.

Used goods & bad service

Really bad service. They sent out used goods. The screen arrived in an open box and with no stand. Tried to sort out with customer service and they just don't care. Will never use them again.

hp laptop delivered in damaged condition and appalling customer support

I ordered a laptop and mouse from hp store on 01/12/25. The items were eventually delivered by courier on the 13th Dec. I could see straightaway that the packaging was damaged and upon opening the box the top of the laptop was dented and turning the laptop on its side you could see distortion. Clearly the laptop had had extreme weight exerted on it, either at the retailer end or by the courier during the delivery process. I immediately contacted hp, which in itself is a task not for the faint hearted. I intially spoke to a customer suport representative who admitted she was not the right person to speak to. She gave me an hp email address which I should write to enclosing photos of the damaged item and packaging. I did this straightaway only to receive a response that the email address was not the correct one. Over the next few days I spoke to 3 more members of the customer support team. Each one in turn said they had initiated a returns process and my request for a replacement. I was to receive emailed instructions on how to return within 24-48 hours. I have never had a single response. I then had 3 separate 'Online Chat' threads all of which have failed to achieve anything. It was then suggested I go into 'My Orders', click on the product to return and then follow the instructions. This I duly did. This method allows you to submit photos, actually only one photo! At this stage I still wanted a replacement. I received an automated acknowledgement confirming the details of my email and stating hp would respond as soon as possible. Following another week with no response of any kind I then used this method again but this time requested a full refund. That was on the 29th December. Unsurprisingly, I have not had any form of reply other than another automated acknowledgement. So almost 4 weeks since delivery, hp have got my money and I have a damaged laptop in its damaged box. I wish I had read the reviews here on Trustpilot before I ordered from hp as I would have purchased a laptop from somewhere else. The battle continues. One tip keep copies of everything, including online chat threads and take photos of any damage.

Bought a hp reverb g2 VR headset back…

Bought a hp reverb g2 VR headset back in 2023, microsoft have ended support for the headset which has made it a very expensive paper weight, all support say is either reverse your pc to an old version of windows or sell it to someone else (how can i sell it to someone knowing its is useless) similar headsets that are older such as the 1st psvr still works and is half the price of this headset, this is not on and surely is not fit for purpose, absolute scum of a company and thieves

Appalling customer service and Faulty products

Appalling customer service over the last week. My printer has broken down and I’ve been back and forth with a agent who uses AI to just repeat troubleshooting questions that he wanted me to to all over Christmas period rather than understand that the actual printer is faulty. Even if you have warranty like myself they refuse to make a simple resolution and replacement. It’s disgusting how such a promoted brand can provide such poor quality products and awful customer service. Everyone needs to avoid so you don’t get the same headache myself and others have had.

Avoid HP at all costs

I recently switched from Dell to HP because their PCs looked impressive. While the buying process was smooth and delivery was fast, the after-sales support was the most inflexible I have ever encountered.

The PC was advertised as having space for two additional hard drives. However, upon opening the case, the necessary mounting brackets were missing. When I contacted support to request the brackets, I was caught in a month-long loop:
Customer Service sent me to a specialized team.
That team made me wait a month for "supervisor approval," only to refer me to the Parts Team.
The Parts Team claimed they couldn't help and sent me back to Customer Service.

It turns out HP only includes these brackets if you buy their hard drives at the time of purchase; they aren't available as a standalone part. Rather than simply mailing a piece of plastic to keep a new customer happy, HP forced a return.

The PC itself was great, but I couldn't risk keeping it knowing that any future technical issues would be handled this poorly. I have since returned to Dell. Their agent was excellent, the brackets were already inside the machine, and I was set up in hours. HP’s lack of flexibility cost them a long-term customer.

No one to speak to on the phone

No one to speak to on the phone. Use all the on line help and still did not solve this problem. I have had a HP printer for over 10 years and this was my second one and the other could not be use. I have only had problems with this one.
I cancelled my ink service today.

I own

I own. 6975, your recent software update locked out the printer ink I was using. Rendering it unusable. I WILL never buy another of your printers and neither will any family business and friends. Forcing us to buy your excessively expensive ink will cost you the printer business in the end. Very short sited!

Absolutely awful!!

Absolutely awful from beginning to end. Purchased a gaming headset from the website that stated was compatible with xbox paid w good few quid for this item which was a present for a birthday in a few weeks time. Anyway came to connect it and it wasn’t compatible at all, contacted customer services which were very helpful and apologetic after questioning why I had waited 3 weeks to come to them with this issue 🙄. Took another 2 weeks for them to insist it was collected by their own couriers then literally had to chase “Barbara” for another 3 weeks for a refund. Avoid this company at all costs! There is zero product knowledge, zero customer service and it’s all over priced. NEVER AGAIN!

No customer service - they dont care when their products fail you

Worst customer service. My computer started playing up and the help email had changed. Then I sent two emails to the recommended email address that were both ignored. No customer care for a product that cost over $1000 and lasted a year. The products don't last and I will never buy HP again. Poor service and shameful attitude to your customers.

Not had a good experience

Not had a good experience. It has taken them over 2 months to issue my refund but I received a credit note this morning so hopefully it is finally on its way back to me. I’ve always thought HP store would be amazing because it’s a huge company and I just expected more when things go wrong. The customer service I have received throughout my order/return has been appalling. I’ve had advisors being rude to me and not answering my questions, wouldn’t give me any info about my return. Never told me when to expect a refund even after asking multiple times before today. They speak to you like you’re stupid, when they are the ones who are meant to be there to help. I feel like the people who work on the online chat are very inexperienced with customer service.
My experience is this. I ordered my son a headset, had it delivered at a shop because I knew I wouldn’t be In. I went to the shop to collect my order but they wouldn’t find my order. I contacted HP store who said I have to wait until the item is returned to them for a refund - knowing it wouldn’t be returned because it had been lost in transit. I have had to email, call multiple times to get someone to listen to me. Finally they said they would investigate, so I gave them time to do this. After a few weeks I asked how much longer - no one could tell me. I wanted the refund because I wanted to get my son some more for his birthday in October but now it is nearly Christmas so at lease I can use the money for Christmas. Anyway - I tried to claim my money back through my bank Monzo and for reference I’ve never claimed money back before. Monzo have now decided to close my account down because of this on Christmas Eve. No other reason to close my bank, my only issue was this refund. So through no fault of my own, I’ve had to wait months for a refund, plus having my bank account closed down. Not happy with both parties involved and wish I never made the order as it’s caused me more hassle than it is worth.

Horrific customer service for defective product

Laptop arrived defective, and I called customer service within an hour of delivery, but it was like pulling teeth. Tried to call then, waited 30 mins, got cut off. Called again, waited, eventually spoke to someone, had to go through a 30 minute process of videoing the issue etc. before he would accept the return. Was told I'd get an email from them about the return but days later I hadn't, so I had to follow up. Returned it, days later didn't hear anything, had to follow up. Still heard nothing, days later, followed up and asked for a refund instead of a replacement as I had entirely lost faith in them as a company. I did eventually get the refund, but it took many more days. I went with HP as they're a brand name, but after this experience I went and bought a different brand instead - AVOID this shambolic excuse for a company, because if something arrives defective you will have to fight and fight just to get a refund/replacement.

extended warranty con

Dont expect any help from customer service at HP or a new printer when you have an issue on the extended warrenty. You will get a previously returned printer that has been haphazardly "fixed" and reboxed. Hp smart tank printer have had nothing but trouble. Took out extended warranty as it was for my car business and needed a swift replacement. Useless from the word go. My original printer form hp store arrived and didnt work. I have tried to use the extended warranty. Ive received 4 replacements over last 6 weeks none have been working they had parts missing the latest one had ink splatted inside and was clearly used. I contacted them again and i was told that they never send new printers out on the warranty they are all reconditioned. This is not acceptable. They are now refusing to honour my warranty at all claiming they cant find the paperwork now. Well everyone else had over the last couple of months but clearly this agent is either incompetent or they are playing games. Ive reported them to trading standards and will ensure I will warn any one i can get to listen that they should avoid this company. Liars! Ive brought and epsom as I desperately needed the printer. The Epsom is amazing and customer service have been so helpful at getting it out to me in under 12 hours as they understood the desperation to get a printer. I have all the copies of my customer service chats. Thats why I did it on whatsapp. All have been forwarded to trading standards.

Ordered a laptop

Ordered a laptop, after 5 days of waiting had an email saying order was cancelled due to stock issues. Ok, fine, things happen. Day after I checked my HP account and laptop order was still showing as processing. I contacted Online support which said my order is not cancelled, so I asked when I will receive it. Then they say it is out of stock and it needs to be cancelled. After they were getting rude Im not even sure if it was cancelled there and then. Never ever I will deal with HP or their customer support again.

Worst customer service ever

Placed order. No email confirmation but pending charge left on credit card statement. Item not in stock but took order. Spoke to customer service who said cancel order or wait.
No apologies, No offer of any compensation, when asked to escalate complaint they have a generic email that gives no details of how to complain.
worst customer service I have every experienced.

Shocking!!!

Ordered a headset for my son in September. It was delivered to a shop on the 2nd October. I went to collect parcel and the shop couldn’t find my parcel. I returned the next day and was told the same and to contact the company. I’ve contacted the company multiple times and they will not refund me until my item goes back to the warehouse but it can’t go back as it’s lost. I’ve explained this multiple times and I just get the same message. I have contacted them again this week and was told I just have to wait. Then i was told it’s with the investigations team. Then they emailed me to say no refund until item is returned by shop to them. So now I’m on week 6 of no refund and no communication about the refund. Contacted Monzo aswell about this as they’re my bank which I ordered with, and they are absolutely useless aswell they are closing my account down because I made a request for a refund. Absolutely appalling from both sides. Will never use Monzo or HPstore again! Still waiting for my refund, wouldn’t mind it’s only £45 that they’re not going to miss! But I needed the headset for my child’s birthday! So no money and no headset absolutely fantastic
