Edge of your seat experience
Amazing actors, effects, storyline and overall experience. I was at the edge of my seat all through. The sound effects, lights and action sequences are unbelievable.
Great show, be prepared!
Really great show, as others have said it has jumps/scares as with the series, and a warning without spoiler that there are periods of blackout in the theatre.
Best show I’ve seen in theatre
AMAZING SHOW!!! It really is the best show of the year; My sister and I both agreed it’s the best show we’ve ever been to see (and we’ve been to many West End shows). The acting was incredible (especially the guy that played Henry Creel), the set and special effects was very cleverly done and it aligned very well with the series. The first scene was very impressive and got a round of applause straight away. If you have watched the series you HAVE to go and watch this. The theatre itself was very nice, and the staff were very attentive.
What a play.. Amazing
The best show I’ve seen in theatre!
The cast got a well deserved standing ovation and I would come back again in a heart beat.
A very well done show and was very impressed!
Wow wow wow.
Wow wow wow.
This is one the best shows I have EVER seen.
Acting is amazing (Henry is incredible) and set is out of this world.
If you are a Stranger Things fan you have to see it!

The best show I’ve seen in theatre!
What an experience, me and my son were on the edge of our seats the whole time. The cast got a well deserved standing ovation and I would come back again in a heart beat.

Not a Stranger Things fan but was a brilliant show. Incredible experience at the theatre. Highly recommended
Simply fantastic
So firstly do you have to be a fan to see this show? Well no you don’t it as stands alone but if you are then a lot of content will click with you.
We sat in the dress circle and the seating was perfect, yes the theatre is a little cosy but on the hottest day of the year it was fine, the bar is quite pricey but pretty standard for the West End and if you don’t like the price you don’t have to buy anything!
The show itself - simply wow, the first scene will grab you and it builds from there, the second act is fantastic and the last two major scenes are incredible.
The effects will blow you mind and are like nothing I have seen in a west end show before. But the major plus is the acting especially the main characters, they were incredible and my teenage son complimenting them demonstrates how believable they are!
Really very impressed and would not only recommend but will be tempted to go and see it a second time.
Surprise gift for teenage daughter was…
Surprise gift for teenage daughter was worried she wouldn’t be interested in a pre tv show storyline but there is enough of a link between shows to keep interest high won’t spoil anything but teenage daughter wife and myself loved it something for everyone
Don't walk..run!
The performance was absolutely incredible. All of the actors outdid themselves but Henry Creel sent shivers down my spine. He was phenomenal. As was Joyce, Bob, Hopper and Patty.
The set and the special effects were amazing. We knew from the first 5 minutes that it was going to be great, and we were hooked until the end.
The posters around the theatre and Scoops Ahoy, all add to the performance.
Absolutely unmissable.
Amazing show
Amazing show, actors were fantastic, worth every penny ❤️ the actor who played Henry was absolutely fantastic, hats off x
Incredible addition to the Stranger Things Universe!
Went to the show to celebrate my 30th birthday- I am such a huge fan of Stranger Things I couldn't pass this production up. Totally exceeded my expectations and would love to go again if given the chance. The effects were the most insane I've ever seen in a live theatre performance!
Couldn’t recommend the show more
Couldn’t recommend the show more! The special effects were incredible and the whole experience was so immersive. I loved it!
Incredible
Absolutely insane, the best theatre show I’ve been too, the acting was incredible. The actor playing Henry was amazing he completely bodied the character. The effects were sick and really worked with the lighting and sound. Overall amazing I am literally booking tickets right now to see it again.
If your a fan of stranger things definitely go see this!!
Really only for fans of teenage science fiction horror
The stage effects are impressive and there is some good acting, though in the bigger school play set pieces it can get a bit scrappy, However the main caveat is this is solely a play for fans of the tv series Stranger Things. The genre is teenage science fiction horror (evil force from another dimension spills over into this kid via a portal accidentally opened by a US wartime experiment who comes back with this superpower to kill that the US military then try to weaponise, you know, the usual stuff.)
After 3 hours in a very cramped seat, you come out asking yourself have I learnt something about the human condition / love / redemption or some event in history, (well, no). Also obviously neither was it a rollicking good musical with some great take away songs.
So, unfortunately, it didn't do it for us, but if you're a fan of the genre no doubt you'll love it.
Wow… this show was impressive
Wow… this show was impressive. A great prequel to the series and a must see for all Stranger Things fans. Isabella Pappas absolutely nailed it as Joyce and the rest of the cast were fantastic too. And then there were the effects, which were just spectacular.
We had a great view from the Stalls but my only gripe would be they were not the comfiest of seats for a 3hr show, but hey, I’d def return for a second viewing!
Review of Stranger Things
I have just watched Stranger Things at the Phoenix Theatre, and it seriously packs a punch! The writer, Kate Trefry, cleverly expands a memory from Season 4, exploring how the Upside Down came to be, and the lives of Victor and Henry Creel, transforming it into a staggering feat of technical wizardry and phenomenal storytelling. There is no lazy or predictable narrative here.
From the first 10 minutes of a jaw dropping naval scene, to the
the parallel universe unfolding before our eyes, this show makes the impossible, possible! A small spoiler: how will they create that terrifying bone crunching scene in the air? They did it and more.
The fidelity to the Netflix Series was evident in everything from the eerie effects of the Demogorgon to the pervasive dark themes.
From start to finish, the production was pure adrenalin. Each scene transitioned seamlessly into the next without a single glitch. It was an immersive experience unlike any other, and I doubt I will ever witness anything as spectacular again. 5 Stars! Go and watch it!
Great show … wrong theatre
Great show … wrong theatre
The show is good if you’ve seen Stranger things the TV show.
However the Phoenix theatre is the wrong location for this show. I was in the stalls and had pre checked the view on the website before going to make sure it was a full view it wasn’t. I would say only the first 10 rows have a full unobstructed view.
The heat in the theatre is insane , I don’t know if it’s the lights , setup but it’s really hot in there so much they have a industrial Aircon they bring in at the start to try and keep it down. It was so hot I fell asleep twice.
Then every 2 minutes you’re treated to the sound of the northern line underground rattling through under the theatre , unbelievable that this hasn’t been soundproofed out.
Finally the bar prices are insane in the theatre , quite frankly offensively high. £26 for a Stella and a Rose wine.
Won’t be returning to the Phoenix any time soon .
Once in a lifetime Experience
Such an amazing show with brilliant acting, lighting and SFX. I love the way it used the entire theater when using some of the effects. Seating was also really good and you could easily view the stage no matter where you sat.
I Would say it is not suitable for kids as there is swearing and a fair amount of gore. Other than thar, incredible!
The production was absolutely amazing
The production was absolutely amazing, I’ll be returning back!
