Stripe has been a nightmare for my business. They froze my funds with vague claims of 'unauthorized payments' and provided no evidence to back it up. I've sent over 20 emails in two weeks, and all I got was a single response saying they’ll keep the money indefinitely, with no option to appeal. Since then, they’ve ignored every email I’ve sent.
This has left both my business and my customers in limbo. Stripe won’t release the funds or refund the customers—it’s completely unacceptable. Their customer support is non-existent, and their handling of this situation has been the worst I’ve ever experienced. Beware of using Stripe for your business!

I would highly NOT recommend Stripe to anyone. My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare. They are currently holding my payments and refusing to refund them without providing any valid reason. Despite reaching out multiple times and speaking to various representatives, I am just being passed around in circles with no resolution in sight.
It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with a company that shows no values, no care for their customers, and no understanding of the impact their actions have on businesses. Has anyone else had a similar experience with Stripe?

Stripe Customer Service & Complaints Are Appalling
Several of my customers received Stripe invoices and were charged over the Christmas holiday period. The invoices say that our company charged them, but this is not the case. I have been emailing Stripe support for over a week and still have no clarity on what's going on, yet they have blocked our Stripe account so that we can't see who has been charged and to refund them. In my last contact, I could see that the Stripe customer service person had generated a response using ChatGPT! So not only has our Stripe account been compromised, Stripe employees are compromising our company by putting our details into AI! I have additionally emailed their complaints service, who also don't have a clue! They sent us to Eventbrite, but this is nothing to do with Eventbrite who have confirmed that no charges were made from Eventbrite on the dates or to the customers concerned.

I wish I could give a zero. They closed my account after testing the gateway! I know hilarious right? I am a jewelry brand, doing everything legal, nothing wrong or high risk even items price around 300$. I asked my sister in germany to test the payment and after she bought something from my website they closed the account the same second, like the order confirmation and account closure emails came at the same second. Maybe they were waiting for the first purchase to collect some money for free. They said my payout will be available after 30 years or something hahahaha I feel stupid for falling for them after reading reviews here and thought maybe these guys are doing something wrong or they sell prohibited goods but no I was in the wrong for trusting stripe. Stripe are committing FRAUD! People we need to boycott this company, lets get together and take them down. Check out this message to the Stripe team. They are preventing me from refunded orders that I have reported to them that are not going to be shipped.
I am writing to formally notify you that I have begun the process of legal action and have retained a lawyer to handle this matter. Your actions in freezing our account and withholding funds that should be refunded to customers have caused significant harm to my business, and I consider this to be fraudulent behavior on Stripe’s part.
In my previous communications, I have made it clear that there are orders I will not be shipping due to the issues caused by Stripe’s account freeze. Despite this, Stripe continues to hold funds that should rightfully be refunded to those customers. I am asking directly: Why can we not simply refund those orders now?
It is unacceptable for Stripe to hold funds that belong to customers, and this delay is damaging both my business and my relationship with my customers. These funds should be returned to the customers without further delay, as withholding them serves no purpose other than to escalate the situation.
I expect a prompt response and immediate action on this matter. If this situation is not resolved swiftly, I will be proceeding with legal action to recover the funds and damages caused by this dispute.

As a Stripe user since 2020 and having processed over 4,000 transactions as a small business, I recently had my account closed on the 19th of August, 2024, due to the following reason:
"Based on the information available to us, including documents submitted via your dashboard to appeal our decision, we’ve determined that your account still presents an unacceptable level of riskAs a result, any funds in your account balance, and any pending charges, will be reversed within 5 days of the account closure date. If a balance still remains in your account after all reversals have been processed, it will not be made available to you, in accordance with Section 5.6 of Service Terms for Stripe Payments. Please refer to your Dashboard for a list of the charges to be refunded "
Here's a brief description of my business: I am the sole owner of a small business my domain is zzgadgets.com, with approximately $2,000+ in monthly recurring revenue (MRR).

But there something not clear ! The sale is from credit card expired on 11/2030 ! This mean this card have more than 5 years to expired and that not legal ! All credit cards expired in two- five years Max !

I have been going round and round in circles with stripe support. I have sent them endless emails of my issue, sent them screenshots and even spoken to 3 different people on their support chat. Every response I am told it is being shared with the specialist team, only for weeks later to be asked what my issue is. I have never dealt with such an incompetent support service. When I first joined stripe 1 year ago, I was assigned a very helpful representative. Now I am left with weeks long emails with zero resolutions. Very disappointment.
Terrible Service and Unreliable Verification Process
We have been stuck in an endless loop with Stripe's verification process, and no one seems to be able to explain why. Despite our repeated efforts and immense patience, our account has been paused for over a month with no clear reason or resolution in sight.
The customer service is appalling—how can it take this long just to verify some basic information? We are at the point of considering closing our account because Stripe’s service is shockingly slow and unreliable. As a business, we need a dependable payment portal on our site, and Stripe has proven to be anything but.
Unless this matter is resolved urgently, we will be forced to look elsewhere. If you're considering Stripe for your payment solutions, be prepared for a long and frustrating experience.
AVOID
AVOID! They have refunded hundreds of our customers resulting in thousands of loss with zero explanation other than “we are closing your account” and there is virtually no one to speak to, you have to wait for an email. Avoid them! If I could go back we wouldn’t use such an unreliable payment provider.

Shocking. Took my money then paused the account for no reason and wouldn't responded at all.
