I really loved this course! I have a background in Art but not with Graphic Design, but this is something I always wanted to get involved with.
The well structured, thoroughly enjoyable modules were carefully designed so that they were all relevant, felt up-to-date and encompassed what is needed as a Graphic Designer. They were well put together in varied ways and built upon skills learnt so far in the course. For some modules, I required more support and guidance and I found Bill's feedback really useful. If I ever had questions, Bill was there to assist. Bill is very enthusiastic about creativity and in general and he genuinely wants his students to do well. This positivity and his level of experience really helped me have confidence with my work. He has supported my in my ongoing journey which is a great support. Thank you :)
I thought I had missed the boat with being able to retrain in graphic design before I found the Strohacker Design School. I had known Bill for a while before signing up while I was at university and had always had an interest in the course.
It was the most insightful and useful 3 months I have ever had, learning new skills, support on-tap and a ready portfolio for the real world of design. We learnt the theory, practice and pitfalls of being a graphic designer and on completion I have settled into junior and senior roles with ease and as much knowledge as those who have done a 3 year course at universities.
The what may be seen as "old school" print techniques and knowledge are second to none as from what I have learnt I have been able to use to help large scale businesses re-work their print methods and minimise file sends!
A blisteringly good course that I would do again and again if I could. The knowledge, techniques and readiness for work make it the go to learning for Graphic Design in the UK.
For many years, I had planned on taking a Graphic Design course, and after much research, I finally decided to enrol in Strohacker's Design School online course. I chose them because they use real-world examples of creative briefs, which, as an older student, was important to me for gaining practical experience. The course was well-structured, easy to understand, and ultimately required me to create a portfolio of work — something I had long wanted to do. I work in the creative field, managing creative projects, so I wanted to experience being on the other end of the brief. I can now fully appreciate the hard work that any creative designer has to put in! I very much enjoyed the course and would highly recommend it.

I had an incredible experience completing the part-time course at Strohacker Design School, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The entire learning journey was transformative, and one of the key reasons was the amazing support and expertise of the teachers—especially Bill, one of the owners. Bill was incredibly kind, patient, and always went above and beyond to ensure that we were not only learning the material but also gaining practical skills that would help us succeed in the design industry.
One of the highlights of the course for me was being introduced to UX design, a module I had never considered before. The hands-on approach and the clear, insightful instruction really opened my eyes to this fascinating field. I never imagined that I would end up pursuing a career in UX design, but thanks to the skills and confidence I gained during the course, I am now working as a UX designer for the London Stock Exchange—a dream job I never would have achieved without this course. I would have never been introduced to UX as a whole if it weren’t for the comprehensive education Strohacker provided.
The structure of the course was perfect for me, allowing for part-time learning that fit seamlessly into my schedule. The small class sizes meant that we received personalized feedback on our work, which helped me grow tremendously as a designer. The UX module, in particular, was incredibly practical, focusing on real-world applications that prepared me directly for the professional challenges I face today.
If you're looking for a supportive, expert-led design course that will truly change the trajectory of your career, Strohacker Design School is where you need to start. The skills and portfolio I walked away with were worth every penny, and the connections and mentorship from teachers like Bill have made all the difference in my journey.
Thank you, Bill, for opening doors I didn’t even know existed!
Loved my time at Strohacker, Bill had amazing energy and a love of all things design and most importantly, a love for teaching.
I managed to find a job in less than 2 months after I left the course. It's quite amazing seeing yourself put together a professional grade portfolio in such little time. Would recommend it to anyone who is going through a career change and wants to hit the ground running.
Cheers Bill! x
This is supposed to be a distance online graphic design course but there is no actual teaching. It is comprised more of being given briefs with examples of previous students work, and minimal feedback.
I was assured that typography was the cornerstone of their course but received no teaching from them in this. When I complained I was given an email saying main heading, sub heading, body of text! I could work that out for myself! Bill knew I was after an in depth course on typography which he assured me I would get before I signed up.
When I complained there was no actual teaching I was told I could book an hour with him to discuss briefs if I felt stuck on them, again, not specific teaching. There is no online one to one or group teaching session on anything, you receive briefs and then minimal feedback.
When I complained this was not what I signed up for, or what I was promised beforehand I was told this was more a course for professional people already in the field, although his course clearly states it is for beginners also, which he was fully aware I was before I signed up. I had thankfully already completed an online graphic design course before his which was wonderfully structured and actually had weekly teaching sessions with someone online.
When I asked for my money back for the remaining modules he promptly emailed them all through to me in one afternoon! He then took an additional payment. When I phoned to alert him to this overpayment I was fobbed off because he was ill (a fact I found out on my second phone call). There was no secretary to talk to, just Bill. Whenever I've tried to talk to a secretary I just get Bill who tells me they are in the process of moving office, this has happened three times! All phone numbers and emails lead to Bill. I eventually got the overpayment back after I had to call him a second time and explain I was at risk of going into my overdraft and charged fees from by my bank. I received no refund for the remaining modules and no further communication from him.
In my opinion it is misleading to call this a course, as a course implies some degree of teaching. He seemed only interested in getting his money, and not the least bit interested in resolving my issues or delivering the course I was assured I would get. There is no customer care or concern and nobody to speak to other than Bill.
Would definitely not recommend to anyone, still feel bitterly disappointed and thoroughly conned. Save your money, there are actual online courses out there that actually care about their students and deliver actual teaching modules.
