Beware: Fraudulent Website Exploits Trust to Legitimize Bank Accounts
I was given this website address after following up with an employment opportunity online. I was supposed to open an account that my "employer" would deposit money into so that I could started with my initial expenses of a laptop and other items needed to begin my tasks for this employer.
They provided me with this link to create an account which I did and they deposited the money into the account. However it wasn't possible for me to transfer the money out because it said the account was inactive.
So I went directly to the South Trust Bank website and tried to enroll there but was unable to do so since the credentials were not recognized on their website.
When I contacted my "employer" they said to activate it I would need to deposit $50 of my own money. I refused to do this because up until that point I wasn't really at risk of losing anything and I was unwilling to risk it.
