My 16 year old son

My 16 year old son, alongside two of his friends, were told by Sue she would be able to find all three of them a tractor test quickly and to cancel the ones they had booked already with the DVSA, which they did, only to be told 3 weeks later by Sue they would each have to pay an additional £800 for her lessons! After 3 weeks she still didn’t have a test booked and told the boys that she may be able to get one date for one of them and would have to put their names in a hat to choose who would get the test. When I questioned her about not explaining to the boys at any point that they had to pay an additional £800, she said it was up to a 16 year old to ask! They asked at the beginning and she confirmed it was £62 in total, then 3 weeks later told them to pay £800 each!
Extremely unprofessional who bombarded my son with messages and calls. Avoid Avoid Avoid.

Absolutely elated to have passed my Cat…

Absolutely elated to have passed my Cat C test having trained with Sue & the team. Despite being a confident car driver- with over 300k worth of miles under my belt across motorways and major cities, I felt the nerves when sitting behind the wheel of a 18t vehicle. Sue, Simon and Sav really made me feel at ease, from thoroughly explaining the process, to the first moment behind the wheel- they took control, steered me in the right direct and taught me how to competently drive and pass the test. I could not have asked for a better experience and could not recommend them enough.

I recently completed my HGV C+E training with Sue’s Driving School and successfully passed my practical test, and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

From start to finish the whole experience was excellent. The instructors were professional, patient and extremely knowledgeable, explaining everything clearly and making sure I understood both the practical and safety aspects of driving a lorry. Their teaching style made the learning process feel calm and structured, which really helped build my confidence behind the wheel.

The training was well organised and tailored to help you improve quickly, with plenty of useful tips for real-world driving and passing the test. The vehicles were well maintained and the instructors created a very supportive learning environment.

If you’re looking to get your HGV licence and want instructors who genuinely care about helping you succeed, I would definitely recommend Sue’s Driving School.

Thank you again for helping me pass my test!

I’m thrilled to have passed Clas 1

I’m thrilled to have passed my Class 1 (C+E), I couldn't have done it without the team. Huge thanks to Sue for keeping everything organised and making the process seamless from day one. My instructors, Savio, Simon and Sue provided top-tier guidance and knowledge and were incredibly patient (most important factor for me) throughout my training. Their competence and professional approach gave me the confidence I needed to handle the articulated vehicle and pass my test. If you're looking for quality HGV training that is 1-2-1 look no further!

Inappropriate, unprofessional behaviour and constantly criticizing, confronting of learner ability

I am writing this so others do not have to go through what I experienced with Sue.

I have read reviews from other people who describe very similar
experiences, which suggests this is not an isolated case.

Throughout my training, and especially on my retest day, Sue’s behaviour made me extremely uncomfortable and anxious. I have always been confident with my driving, but her manner, tone, constant negativity, and confrontational attitude completely destroyed my confidence.

On the day of my retest, she raised her voice at me before the session even started, interrupted me during the “show me, tell me” questions, and spoke to me in a way that made it difficult to concentrate even before driving.

Instead of supporting me, she created a hostile and stressful atmosphere.
I was also been repeatedly charged for a full day of retraining even though I only drove for a few hours, with the explanation that nobody else could use the car that day.

Because of her behaviour and the unprofessional environment created by Sue, I became too stressed to continue safely and had to end the test shortly after leaving the training centre. As a result, I could not even attend my DVSA retest on the same day. This was not due to my driving ability, but due to the pressure and discomfort caused by her conduct.

I strongly advise anyone considering training with Sue to think very
carefully. Some people may have good experiences, but mine was extremely distressing, and I would not recommend her based on what I experienced.

I certainly did not speak to you in an aggressive manner . I was discussing your previous complaint you made to DVSA regarding the conduct of the Examiner on your last test . I reminded you that I had informed you I was having a meeting with the Test Center Manager, also kept you up to date with the change of appointment date .
I them moved on to the Show Me Tell Me questions, by this time we had been joined by my other Client who was on day 2 so not as knowledgeable as you , which is why I asked you the questions and not him.
You were incorrect or missing all the information required for the questions and it is my job as an Instructor to both of you to make sure you give the correct answer. I am sorry this increased your stress but on day 9 you should have known the answers . You are asked the questions on every days training and you have The other Client commented to the other instructor after we had left how rude you were to me
We then got into the truck and I instructed you to drive out of the parking bay ( in a straight line with clear visibility and no hazards ) and you proceeded at 5 mph . I instructed you to get going a bit faster , you argued with my instruction so I reiterated you need to drive at a speed appropriate to the Road & Traffic Conditions and I felt you were too slow .
You then flored the gas pedal and roared out of the yard like you were on fire
I didn’t comment at this action as I could see you were very angry
Shortly I asked you to confirm your speed , you snapped at me 30 mph and stated this was the speed limit , I then reminded you of appropriate speed as you were approaching some very large pot holes of which you drove straight through them , at speed I said you should have slowed down or checked your mirrors and avoided them
Your response was to take both hands off the steering wheel at approximately 25 mph and shout at me
I asked you to put your hands on the wheel and to turn left out of the gate
Your driving at this point was aggressive and dangerous- there were pedestrians on the road with dogs
I requested that you stop driving the truck like a Battering Ram of which you shouted rudely at me that you were to stressed to take the Test , you approached the gate far too fast, violently steered right then left .
I commented that was a dangerous way to drive
I said ok , please pull over in a safe place and we will swap seats and I would drive you back to the yard
You were in such a foul temper it would have been unsafe for you to carry on driving a 44 tonne truck on the public highway
You slammed the brakes on and the truck came to a very abrupt stop in the middle of the road .
I quickly got into the drivers seat to get the truck in a safe position , as I checked my mirrors I saw you walking back to the yard ( less than 1/2 mile away )
You accuse everyone who sits next to you that it is difficult for you “to perform” this is all my Driving School Instructors and the Examiner , I would suggest perhaps you recognise yourself that you are not the best driver but try to blame everyone else
Whilst you drive under tuition it is the Instructor s job to identify faults and try to get you to rectify them, this is something you are unable to do . This is called a Driving Lesson
You are unable to see that your driving is not up to standard , despite being given the instruction
This has resulted in 3 failed attempts at the test
You put a complaint about the Examiner to DVSA and now have publicaly complained about me
You were dishonest about your application to get Boot Camp funding as you said to my instructor “ I have no intention of getting a Driving Job , I am only doing this because it is free”.
So you have taken funding from someone who could have used this funding well.
Your Test fails are totally because of your incompetence to drive - on test number 3 you had the whole of the back wheel on the kerb and narrowly missed demolishing the railings - how can you expect to pass a C+E Test doing this?

Vile human beings

Vile human beings. Expressed dissatisfaction at the training given to our son as was not as agreed and was bombarded with abuse via text such as the following…
‘I hope you as parents do not cause him anymore stress with this unpleasantness’
After suggesting we drive our son back 2hrs to the training yard so our concerns could be rectified telling her we physically couldn’t get our son there on the day requested we received this…
“If you really wanted to get him here it could be done but that is your choice’
Didn’t deliver what was agreed, didn’t tell us it wouldn’t be possible to deliver it as agreed and refused to consider any sort of refund.

I will await the abusive messages / reply when she sees this on here at which point she will prove my comment about being vile as correct,as she has to others who have given poor reviews

Some reviews - like people are best ignored.
I cannot perform miracles when I am only given cause of previous fail 2 hours before training session started - dispute my asking for a copy of said report some weeks previously.
Thank you very much for making me aware of my short comings

HGV Class 1 refresher

Having taken a year out from driving HGV Class 1 part time as an agency driver, I went to Sue's Driving School for a two hour refresher on reversing, particularly blindside. Simon was really helpful and an excellent teacher. Did my first Class 1 shift back yesterday. All went really well especially the reversing. I would have been very rusty without Simon's top tips. I highly recommend.

Want to Learn? You’d Better Call Sue!

Alright, so you may read this and think ‘he passed first time, of course he’ll give five stars’. Please read on.

At 57 I was a total novice, and until the 5th of August I’d never even sat in the cab of a large goods vehicle. I also didn’t do this because I thought it would be easy, which was a good job!

To elevate my skills to the level needed to pass my class 1 first time in what was really just 5 days of driving is testament to the teaching skills, driving knowledge and experience that Sue, Simon and Savio possess.

I won’t forget the exacting standards that they expected and set for me. I cannot thank them enough for the daily tests, ongoing constructive critique of my driving and their driving insight. Oh yes, and their patience!

Because of their commitment to me I also felt I must also commit my time, studying, reviewing feedback and driving routes to familiarise myself with the different approaches to junctions, hazards and let’s not forget the many roundabouts in Swindon.

I am also especially grateful to the 2 firms who I called before contacting Sue for not answering my call and responding to my messages.

My advice to you is, if you want to learn right, You’d Better Call Sue’.

I had a terrible experience with Sue's…

I had a terrible experience with Sue's driving school.
I booked and paid for 3 days of training and my test fee. When I initially contacted Sue and spoke to her over the phone I was quoted a price for 3 full days of training then given a seperate test date (Which I was charged 150 pounds for even though I've since found out the test fee is only 115). At the end of the 3 days of training (Which was fine bar a terrible morning with Sue as my instructor, where she completely frazzled me and totally knocked my confidence as she was at me from the moment we drove out of the gates and constantly gave me conflicting and confusing information and then berated me for making small mistakes, or mistakes I hadn't even made). She recommended I do extra training 'to be extra confident'. I said I would think about it and let her know, then when I responded with thank-you but I'd like to go ahead with my test as I felt reasonably confident I could pass - She turned rather awful and told me unless I paid for extra training (1100 pounds worth!) they would not allow me to take the test in their lorry, I was dangerous, she could not let me drive 'unsupervised' (also completely insulting the examiners by saying they're only examiners and are useless) and that I was going to cause an accident!
This is the first I had heard any of this so called dangerous driver feedback over the whole 3 days.
Sue then tried to tell me I owed them 1100 for the extra training (that she had booked without my confirmation) and that regardless of wether or not I took the training I would be paying for it. I told her I would not be taking the extra training as I couldn't afford it (which is why I didn't confirm it when she suggested it, I told her I'd need to see if I could find the extra money) and she told me take out a credit card or get a loan from somewhere/anywhere - But that she didn't care, just pay her the money.

I went to another trucking company after this awful experience, after x1 4hour lesson - to take me through a couple of the test routes and to get used to the lorry (split manual gearbox) I passed my test first time with 3 minor driving faults. You are allowed 13, so I hardly scrapped through and obviously the examiner did not feel I was a dangerous driver! The owner of the other company also was not surprised to hear any of this about Sue as she is apparently quite well known in the industry for this kind of behaviour!

Absolutely awful experience and I am only writing this so that no one else should have to go through what I experienced as I have since spoken to multiple people that have had scarily similar experiences with Sue, so its not uncommon.
I understand some people have had good experiences with Sue and I'm happy for them, however I really feel that she tried to take advantage of a young, female foreigner and was just trying to get as much money out of me as she possibly could, so train with her at your own risk though I would highly recommend against it!

Reply from Sue’s Driving School

Hi sorry you feel this way and we are glad you passed your test, obviously our training was what got you through as with all the best will in the world no one will pass this test with only 4hrs training and you were not that good , and in a split gearbox! We train in a full size 18t modern lorry with a full automatic box which all modern lorries have and we do not manipulate tests, the examiners know we send candidates ready to drive full sized vehicles. On day 1, due to your misleading us, you did not have experience driving a Cat C you were terrified of the truck and a day was wasted getting you used to the size and off the kerbs, you told us you had Cat C experience and knew Swindon, this is what Sue based her estimate on you needing 3 days . It turned out that you had driven a 3.5t which is a van, we provide a report of all that is done that day and identify weak points that you need to work on, look at them. Some have more than others and you can not be complacent in an lgv.
We have a duty of care to the examiner and to General Public already on the road to provide a candidate that is safe and likely to pass, obviously you got the wrong end of the stick about that, you admit you were “frazzled” so unlikely to be listening correctly.
Sue is exact and precise with her teaching and your “small” mistakes are not good enough. By that stage you should have no “small” mistakes and it shows that you were not ready. They were NOT small mistakes!
As we have pointed out late night alcoholic ravings are not clever and please remember how long alcohol stays in your system as one day you will have a life changing experience due to it.
You have also signed a contract to say days booked are chargeable - quite obviously you have no intention of paying for the booked days when you did agree to them.
You may be dishonest in NZ and get away with it but this is not the way people work in UK !
Trying to get your friend Jo Gowans Brassey to try to bully me is not clever tactics either !
Your lies will catch up with you
Safe driving.
Regards Sue.

Even though I’ve been driving for 30+years I had to basically learn again from scratch ! Was a humbling experience but got there and passed with the help of sue and especially Miranda . Very patient and knowledgeable and Simon even gave up a Saturday to help me . Now looking forward to a new career until I retire !!
