Scammers

For the past year and a half I was paying fast lane tolls and they previously stated to me that I was exempt because of the EV benefit. The senate passed a bill 1662 on July 1, 2025 to cut those benefits but I was auto paying way before that.
Sunpass stated they had no knowledge of this benefit and that was with the DMV.
These people sound like straight scammers as I requested credit for those months and they stated we don’t do that.
When I requested to speak to a supervisor they stated they were not available to speak pertaining to this conversation. (Sounds like a scammer/mafia to me.)

have never been more disappointed in a company

have never been more disappointed in a company than I am with SunPass. While this is not directed at the individual representatives I’ve spoken with, it is directed at the way this company operates. My license plate was stolen, and I immediately filed and submitted a police report. Despite doing everything required of me, I continue to receive bills for a vehicle that does not belong to me, connected to a temporary tag I only had for less than a week.

Over the course of this situation, I have spoken to multiple people and spent countless hours trying to get this resolved. Not once has SunPass provided me with clear communication, accountability, or a resolution. Instead, I was blindsided with an email informing me that the matter was simply “sent to collections” — a move that shows zero compassion, zero understanding, and zero willingness to actually investigate or assist.

This is completely unacceptable. Customers should never be punished for theft, especially when they have followed proper legal procedures and provided documentation. SunPass’s handling of this situation has been unprofessional and careless, and it reflects a larger problem in how the company treats the very people who keep it in business.

Here’s what needs to change:
• Accountability: Issues involving fraud or theft must be thoroughly investigated before sending accounts to collections.
• Communication: Customers deserve updates and explanations, not silence followed by debt collection notices.
• Compassion & Fairness: Policies must be put in place to protect innocent customers from being held responsible for charges they clearly did not incur.

Awful customer service

This afternoon I called customer service and I spoke with 2 people and they provided awful customer service and manners. The name of one of this person is Ana. I even told her that I was going to call again and report her with a manager and she said that she doesn't care. We spent a lot of money in this company daily and they don't even show good manners. I wonder if they don't need customers?

I am extremely disappointed SunPass Took My Money and Left Me With the Bills. Terrible Service!

I am extremely disappointed with SunPass and their handling of my toll account. For months, SunPass has been withdrawing money daily from my account, supposedly to cover tolls. I trusted that they were doing their job and paying the correct toll agencies. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Despite consistent withdrawals from my SunPass account, my E-Pass tolls were never paid. As a result, E-Pass began sending invoices to my home for tolls I had already funded through SunPass. The situation worsened when those unpaid invoices eventually led to a court case, and I was forced to pay out of pocket, money I didn’t have for tolls that should have already been covered.

When I contacted SunPass about the issue, they refused to refund the money they had taken from my account, even though they clearly failed to transfer it to E-Pass. I provided all the documentation showing the daily deductions and the E-Pass invoices, and still, they did nothing.

This isn’t just bad service, this is negligence, and it feels like outright theft. They took my money and failed to do what they were supposed to do with it, and now I’m left dealing with court fees and a major financial loss.

I would strongly warn others to think twice before relying on SunPass. If you’re using them to manage tolls across agencies, be very careful. Check your statements constantly and confirm that payments are actually being made. I trusted SunPass and got burned.

Absolute garbage company and app

Absolute garbage company and app.
Wasted 2hrs trying to get this to work and still haven't managed it.
Only works if you have USA phone number (shit for tourists).
Even if you mess around getting a US phone number it still doesn't accept payment. Just constant error messages on app and website. Tried calling customer service but over 30min wait to speak to someone (can't afford that calling from the hotel room).

This SunPass crap is such a let down and an embarrassment for Florida. Completely detrimental to tourists from other countries. It's really put us off coming back. Something that should be so easy is just a complete time wasting joke. Messing up our whole trip because we can't use the damn roads. I'd just pay $100 up front as soon as I arrived to avoid this level of hectic frustrating bullshit. Just wasting my time sat in a hotel room trying to get this crap to work when I want to be out enjoying the limited time we have here. Wish I had just paid Hertz for the toll card now instead. That's my advice for foreigners visiting. Just suck it up and pay the rental car companies if you value your time because this SunPass shit will just drain your time, energy, and mood.

which transponders have been discontinued?

Some of their transponders have been discontinued. I currently own 4 transponders for my car yet none of them apparently work. I keep getting billed by plate.

They do not show which transponders are valid and which are not. My only option is to buy a new transponder which never seems to reach me. Typical government programming - it just doesn't work.

SUNPASS IN MIAMI FLORIDA IS STEALING CUSTOMERS MONEY AND SENDING THEM THREATENING BILLS IN THE MAIL SAYING THEY OWE AFTER THEY STOLE CUSTUMERS MONEY. SAYING THEY HAVE ZERO BALANCE

Miami Dade county Florida SUNPASS is stealing customers money and sending them threatening letters in the mail saying they owe This has happened to me more than once. I Rarely take expressways Like maybe 3 times in a month And when I do it's not far at all. I keep it Closeby. I just got my SUNPASS invoice email today saying I had $46 balance end of June . And today barely two weeks later I get a letter saying I ran out of money on my SUNPASS and I am in arrears $8. And I need to make a payment. Where did my almost $50 go ???? Where's my money????? I don't owe them nothing. This is Not true. I didn't use $46 in two weeks. I rarely use the expressways No one borrowed my car. No one uses it accept me. I'm the only one. They are stealing customers money and sending them letters saying they don't have any money on their SUNPASS and that they Owe them money in an attempt to Rob and steal from SUNPASS customers. This happened to me a few yrs ago too. I put $100 and two weeks later they said I was at zero balance. I only took the expressway twice. I called and called. I was so mad. I made complaints after complaints and I got no help at all. Also I still haven't got back the money they owe me from my old SUNPASS account. From 2020 until 2025 I didn't have a car. So they closed out my account so they say and they never refunded my money. They just give me the run around when I call. There needs to be a Class Action Lawsuit against them I'm going to research which lawyers to contact. This has to stop.

Corruption

I received an invoice for two charges with one photo that was blurred. I disputed it onlin ethrough their website, afterwards I received an response stating received with a request number staing someone would contact me within 2 business days, that was July 4,2025. On July 8, 2025, I called to follow up and spoke with a human who told me that the case was under review, and someone would contact me later that day but no later than the next day July 9,2025. I have not received any follow or follow through from Sun Pass. I did not pay the invoice because its false, instead I disputed it, the due date has passed and there's been no resolution. How is this even possible. Are there any attorney's that can take this matter and move it into federal court?

SunPass - a terrible organization and poor reflection on FL

I give them a 1 because there is no option to give a zero or negative number. It almost impossible to effectively engage with them, i.e. a Human, and their on-line system and response is ridiculous. It seems that their systems are either set up to ignore customer service and maximize revenues or they are incompetent.

In Mar & Apr 2025, I used 20 FL SunPass tolls using my EZ Pass of which 19 were automatically billed to my EZ Pass account. On 2/25, for some unknown reason, a $0.50 charge was not made to my EZ Pass account although nothing had changed my end. I subsequently received a bill for $3.00 (incl. a $2.50 Admin fee). I disputed this online (because you can't talk to a human) and was given a case number. A few days later, I received an e-mail from them that my case was closed and I assumed it was over and I didn't owe anything - WRONG!

I soon received another bill for $5.50 (incl. another $2.50 Admin fee) and initiated another dispute process on-line and another case number - a few days later I got exactly the same response of "case closed" but the bill remains in the account.

I worked out how to e-mail them, as you can't speak to them, this time appealing to their sense of fairness and highlighting that this could be a t6echnical issue on their system, and got another case number. Lo and behold, I then got another "case closed" message but the bill remains with the likelihood of additioanl $2.50 fees each month.

I went online again and attempted to pay the missing $0.50, which I had offered to do before, but you can't pay anything less than $5.00. In the end I paid the $5.50, not because I wanted to or felt I should need to but simply to stop me having to deal with them.

I'm sure this entity is not a reflection on how government and business operates in FL but, if it is, god help us. FL is a tourism and "service" state and just don't think these guys get this - Muppets! (sorry, that's an insult to Muppets).

I have the basic transponder

I have the basic transponder, not the Pro. While driving through PA the transponder picked up a toll at Carlisle PA. Sunpass charged me. This transponder isn't supposed to work in PA. The PA toll system charged me for the toll as well as Sunpass toll system. I called customer service 3 times. All the times I called, the person I spoke with, all agreed I shouldn't have been charged. Customer service agents sent 3 different disputes to the dept that handles disputes and all 3 times my dispute cases was denied. This is the worst govt dept I have ever had to deal with.

GOV PRIVATIZED, CRIMINALIZED, BLUNT ROBBING

Florida privatized, criminalized, robbery legalized.
* 2024 made five (5) trips down to So.Flo., Feb, May, June, July. Previously paid tow booths were $1.00, .50cents, whatever; let say $20.00 > $25.00 top for all.
* August 1, 2024 received an e-bill text, $47.07, paid Visa end 1649, ref/trans # 24055234214045300127277, to SunP acct # 129412858, verified by phone SunP 5.2.2025 , 1.888.965.5352. Called previously, last week, there was no record of payment that the clerk could find. Now after searching my own bank statements, found the payment entry, calling back, providing it, after five (5) min or so, then, "Okay, it shows you paid..."
* Been receiving text messages saying I owed $4.99-registration blocked, $6.99-tow warrant issued, $7.99... Visa blocked payments citing possible frauds, and replaced card, confirmed info fishing frauds by SunP, 5.2.2025
* Sunp confirms tows payment received on 8/01/2024, and cites the $47.07 payment was for the two(2) trips from Geneva AL to Plants > Miami > Tampa, back to Geneva AL, June and July 2024! TWO trips, least amount tows routes used = $47.07 tow fees, June and July, billed end of July, paid Aug 01, 2024! Confirmed paid on time, no late or collection fees or physical mailing fees included, since SunP till does not have my mailing address, only email from AL DMV as of May, 02 2025. We do the math; oh, math/book are prohibited in Florida, so you do "the meth" like everyone else! This is what listed by Webster as "privatized gov to legalized institutional robbery."
* By the way, I now owe SunP $93.16 for the three (3) trips, same route (Flo animal shows), which S.P claims that it sent bills via physical mailing to an unknown address, confirmed that it DOES NOT HAVE MY MAILING ADDRESS in record !? Miraculously, Sunp had my address, but not(!@#$?), to send the second bill, $47.07, but did not have it to for the first bill, says on 5/02/2025 !@#$%? AND, the $93.16 includes the three (3) trips tow fees, 3 physical mail billing $1.50 each to an address that SunP did not have according to SP's clerk, Lacie, and collection Linebagie-something lawfirm's clerk, John, 877.258.5261, and fishing for my mailing address which was NOT in either systems, via "for verification would you confirm your mailing address". *** Made a critical mistake, gave M.address to clerk John, "Oh, that's not what in the system. Let me update it."
* 5/2/2025 paid the $93.16 over the phone to Linebagie... law firm. Ask for confirmation/receipt. The clerk says, "it would be any good to you. In a few days a week, everything will disappeared, be completely wiped off both systems, so we won't able to retrieve anything from this trans.ID, but I'll give it to you if you still want it, (yes.) ref. 05558D" !@#$%? A Florida privatized tow company, SP, and a collection law firm are NOT required to keep record, unless you, the payer give them the specific/EXACT transaction twenty-three (23) digits number from your bank transaction ref., then, ONLY THEN, "oh, yeah. We did received the payment."
* You do the math... Sorry, kept forgetting Florida prohibits doing "math and books," only doing "meths" is permitted!
* Not everyone get scammed like this, hundred of thousands are being robbed bluntly by SunP and its so called collection law firms, personal info fished... Everywhere I turned, there is a criminal corp aka vultures are lurking, if not already attacked, stealing $... I'm turning into a SUPER-MAGA, incessantly ranting about God knows what. But I was told, "It's not you. It's the world we are in , unfortunately. the criminals are in-charged of everything, the banks, the car-repair shops, the car dealers, the supermarkets, the gas stations... to the "spineless, do nothing" law-conundrum-useless democrats, insane criminal republicans all the way up to the white house!"
* This is Italian mafia's "Nickle and Dime" method. All the extortion amount is small, indiscriminately, and in massive numbers to everyone comes across theirs paths, added with the huge amount of info-fishing text-scams to deploy fears, confusions, making a giant sticky web for any victim to navigate. If one consults an attorney, "It would be unethical for me to charge you $10,000.00 to represent you, in order to retrieve records that worth a couple hundred dollars." This is how the system is set up, "nickle & dime" hundreds here and there, everywhere... adding up to billions like the banking corp, health-home-car insurance syndicates, all privatized, theirs crimes legalized.
* And we're sitting around asking why there are people donated several hundred thousand dollars to Luigi M's defense fund !? This is an example of the "Y." Nearly 300M Americans, regardless of political, religious affiliations or not, are being legally bullied and robbed

Poor customer service and unable to get refund

Easy enough to buy and install on the car window, but proved impossible to register it online. Had to ring up in the end and despite reading my name out twice, they entered it wrong on the account. Now that I no longer have the transponder (used for a rental) , I'm trying to get a balance refund. Not only are they doing nothing about it, but they later took even more money off my credit card, despite me no longer using the transponder. It got to the point where I have cancelled that card so they can't take any more. Live Chat is on offer in their Customer Service, but surprise surprise, it doesnt work. Good idea in theory but shoddy service and basically they're holding on to my money.

I received a text that I owed SunPass…

I received a text that I owed SunPass for an unpaid toll. I live in Texas and my TexPass usually covers tolls in other states that reciprocate. However, it was a phishing scam and reluctantly I had emailed Surpass and asked if it was a legitimate charge. It took them 4 days to respond saying it was not them. While waiting I clicked on the text and paid the fine. I had $45 taken from my CVS Helth care debit card which was the full amount I had on it for Medicare. SUNPASS did finally email me and warned me they were aware of a phisihing scam. They said please disregard the link you received.I paid it to avoid late fees from SUNPASS Too late.
