A cafe by name, a restaurant by nature.

This is an amazing little cafe that is more like restaurant standard. It is a modern, but purpose built building by the sea at Silecroft, West Cumbria and the cafe has amazing views out into the Irish sea.

The food is delicious and a number of local suppliers are used. The staff are young, but friendly and helpful.

Whether just wanting a coffee and cake or a breakfast or sandwich or full meal, I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. I believe the cafe is dog friendly too.

We were there today for their Sunday dinner. We went for the beef cheeks in red wine sauce and the beef was jaw-droppingly tender. The sweet I chose was cinnamon swirl cheesecake with sticky toffee pudding ice cream (locally made at Ravenglass) and it was delicious - as was the whole meal. The portions were large and great value (£22 for the two courses.

We have been a few times for coffee and cake since it opened, but this was our first cooked meal there.

At almost 40 years married, we have had countless meals out over the years, but this meal ranked right up there at the top and we will certainly be going back for another.

If you want to find out more, their Facebook page (Sunset Cafe - Silecroft Beach) is probably the best to visit. I'm pretty certain you won't regret a visit to the beach or the cafe.
