Company is doing very well in finding students. The site can be quite restrictive if you don't have a premium account. Should be able yo see students profile before expecting a lesson request, in case the travel the doesn't match up.

FINAL UPDATE (30th April):

Superprof has sent a final email refusing the full refund and admitting they cannot control the tutors on their own platform. They have now closed the case on their end. No matter, First Direct has already initiated the full chargeback. I am done dealing with their 'policies' and will let the bank handle the recovery of my £156.

Avoid this company at all costs!!

UPDATE (27th April 2026):
Superprof has replied below with a generic template, yet they continue to ignore the specific evidence provided.

Their own support agent admitted in writing that the tutor was in breach of policy regarding the 'Free First Lesson.'

They claim fees are clear, but they use clever tactics to hide them so you don't realise it's a subscription whatsoever. I didn't even login for 2 months and was charged £39 a month for that... Emails like, "you are free to contact tutors"

After my second complaint email, I was offered half of the money back and I then set a deadline (27.04.26) for a full refund of the £156 taken, which Superprof has ignored. No reply at all.

I have now formally initiated a chargeback with First Direct for all four transactions. If Superprof wants to claim their fees are 'clear,' they can now explain that to the bank's dispute department and the CMA, to whom I have also filed a formal report under the DMCCA 2026.

Do not be fooled by their "friendly team" reply below—they are still withholding my money for a service they failed to provide.

ORIGINAL REVIEW (As Posted on the 23.04.26)

I am warning EVERYONE to stay far away from Superprof. This company operates a predatory subscription trap designed to bleed money from your account without clear consent or notification.

In January, I signed up to contact a tutor advertised with a 'First Lesson Free.' Immediately after unknowingly paying their 'Student Pass' fee, the tutor told me the lesson was NOT free and she 'couldn't change the platform settings.' She then ghosted me. I received zero tuition.

The 'Hidden' Subscription:

I was completely unaware that Superprof had enrolled me in a recurring £39/month subscription. There was no clear transparency at checkout and I received no monthly billing notifications. I did not use the service at all for two months, having no idea I was being charged.

When I finally realised I had been charged over £150, I tried one last time to use the 'service' I had paid for by messaging another tutor, who also failed to provide a lesson.

Their support agent, Natalia, has admitted in writing that my first tutor breached their 'free lesson' policy, yet they are still trying to withhold my money for the months I didn't even know I was being charged.

Under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCCA) 2026, this 'dark pattern' subscription model and 'bait advertising' is illegal. I have a statutory 'Right to Unwind' this entire contract due to their initial misrepresentation.

I am reporting this to the CMA and the Advertising Standards Authority. If Superprof does not refund the full £156 immediately, I will be proceeding with a full Chargeback through my bank for 'Services Not Rendered.'

Disgraceful business model. Refund my money.

And if you take anything away from this - do NOT use this platform!

I found Superprof a very useful platform that connects tutors and students worldwide. It offers flexibility in scheduling, a wide range of subjects, and good visibility.
I highly recommend it to tutors as well as students.
