High price and long delay for a battery replacement
I sent my Tissot Touch 2 to have its battery replaced. Unfortunately local watch repairers will not do this for this particular model because of the touch screen. Despatched 28/10/2021, expecting to be charge £25 for the basis service but charged £50 + £18 postage & insurance. After much chasing, I eventually received it back on 03/12/2021 (5 weeks later). When I pressed "activate" to activate the touch screen, the button stayed depressed and would not release. The screen initially activated so that I could cycle between hh:mm:ss and date, but now is inactive.
I returned under warranty repair 06/12/2021, received by SG on 07/12/2012 [their delivery pack arrived 08/12/2021 but I used one I already had]. It required a replacement part which they had to send away for! I received it back on 17/12/2021 (2 more weeks) but had to correct the date (2 days out) and time (~1 minute out). This is a precision watch, so I expected the date/time to be correctly set.
So for a routine battery change, I waited 7 weeks and was charged £68; in my view this was extortionate. I had to chase for updates, otherwise I would have been told nothing about the delays. The excuses given were related to issues arising from the Covid epidemic. In my view, SG Service Department needs a thorough internal review of its service standards and costs.
