Not the service I was expecting
I suspect the experience would have been significantly more positive under normal circumstances, but unfortunately my handover was cancelled on the scheduled delivery day due to a fault identified during the pre-delivery inspection.
That in itself would have been understandable if the issue had then been handled clearly and proactively. Instead, more than two weeks passed with no meaningful update provided to either me or the leasing agent. The only information given was that a part was required, with no clear explanation of the fault, no repair plan, no estimated timeline, and no confirmed revised delivery date.
This was particularly frustrating because the vehicle had already been registered, meaning I was left paying for insurance and making alternative car arrangements for a car I could not actually use.
I was also told that once the issue was fixed, immediate delivery would be offered. However, when delivery was finally being arranged, the earliest available date was still a week away, which made the earlier assurance feel fairly meaningless.
Delivery ended up being 5 weeks after initial expected delivery date.
Overall, the situation was not just about the fault itself, but the lack of communication, ownership, and urgency after the problem was identified. A registered vehicle was unavailable for weeks, costs were being incurred, and updates had to be chased rather than provided.
I accept that faults can happen and the experience may have been very different had the delivery gone ahead as planned. However, the handling of the issue after the cancelled handover fell well short of what I would expect, especially for a new vehicle delivery.

Thanks very much for sharing your experience on the delivery of your new vehicle. As you say, during the pre-delivery inspection the supplying dealer identified a fault with the door lock. Unfortunately this meant that your scheduled delivery was cancelled, the dealer then had to investigate to identify the problem, then order a part and repair it. This lead to a delay in delivery. We agree that the dealer did not communicate well about the issue and we understand your frustration with the situation. It is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide for our customers. We will ensure the supplying dealer is aware of this feedback and learnings taken on board. Thanks very much for taking the time to express your concerns so we can follow up on it.
