Bad customer service
I signed up last year and initially found the experience enjoyable but a technical issue made it impossible to use. I complained and requested a partial refund if the fault could not be solved, and was told they would look into it and come back to me but they never did. I followed up a year later when my renewal was due but they told me I was too late to receive a partial refund despite the fact that my initial complaint was well in the timeframe. They then had to audacity to tell me if I had followed up my complaint things might have been different, when their original email said they would come back to me.

the conversations. It really helps to converse in spanish with Emma, my AI person. She listens and responds to my sentences. I also like the feedback and ability to translate if I don't understand what she says. It is also great to be able to adjust her talking speed. This is worth the money I paid.

After four months using Talkpal, I highly recommend it for the serious language learner.
I’ve been using Talkpal since November 2025 (for four months now) to study Russian, Japanese, and Spanish. It’s not my only tool, but it is an impressive one. I’m a 'respectable' B2 in Russian and Japanese—languages I’ve studied on and off for over twenty years—and an A2 in Spanish after two years of study.
Talkpal is great for pronunciation and listening practice across all three. While I don't quite have the grammar for Spanish conversation yet, I use it regularly for Russian and Japanese. In those two languages, I can hold a fairly fluent conversation, and the AI feels quite natural. I truly wish I’d had a tool like this twenty years ago! It’s excellent for those with a solid background (perhaps 1–2 years of university study), but even at an A1 or A2 level, it is quite useful for practicing pronunciation, listening, and building vocabulary. Its strongest point, however, is AI conversation practice. I highly recommend it for the serious language learner.
