Tasker Experience When Buying Lounge Furniture

We dealt with Taskers several years ago when we bought a grand sofa, a two seater sofa and a single armchair and were very satisfied then. Quite recently we bought a Daphne three seater sofa and very recently we bought another sofa and armchair both made to match the Daphne bought first

Great quality products and exceptional service

We recently purchased a dining table and chairs which we love. The choice was great and all the staff ( sales, admin and delivery) we met were fantastic. Good service will mean we will return when we need other furniture.

Buyers Beware (Unless You Enjoy Stress, Excuses, and “Characterful” Furniture)

If you’re thinking of spending £4400 on a custom Fama modular sofa, let me introduce you to my delightful adventure with Taskers—a true masterclass in how to turn a luxury purchase into a slow-burning nightmare.

We ordered our sofa in December 2024, and to be fair, Dave Dawson in sales was great. Helpful, friendly, reassuring… you know, all the things you expect before a company has your money. Sofa arrived around March 2025, and that’s when the magic began.

The delivery guys assembled it, stepped back, and even they looked horrified. Apparently, the L-shaped masterpiece had decided each module should be a different size—some seats with Grand Canyon gaps between them, others squeezed together like they were sharing body heat. Headrests? All at different heights, just in case we needed a reminder that symmetry is overrated.

Even the staff muttered, “Yeah, this isn’t right,” which was comforting… for the five seconds before the service went downhill like a greased sled.

The warehouse manager came out, took one look, and agreed it was basically a charity-shop-quality bodge job wearing a £4400 price tag. He promised to pass it to the operations manager—who must only exist in theory, because he never returned a single call.

After playing phone-tag with ghosts, we finally reached Dave again. He apologised and offered two options: replace the faulty modules or refund the whole thing. Considering the sofa already looked like it had been assembled by someone blindfolded on a trampoline, we chose the refund.

So far, so sensible… until The Call With Ivan.

We rang back on 14th April to accept the refund, and the receptionist suddenly transferred us to the owner, Ivan, who apparently lives in an alternate universe where conversations with his own staff never happened. He denied we’d ever been offered a refund and even asked who had said it—so I told him: Dave. Dawson. The same guy who sold it to us.

Since the store line records calls (as their cheerful message loves to remind you), Ivan suddenly decided to call me back… from his mobile. Pure coincidence, I’m sure. Suddenly, the sofa wasn’t faulty at all—it was simply showing “the characteristics of the model.” Conveniently, these “characteristics” are only visible when you receive a sofa that looks like it’s been built from leftover mismatched parts. He even helpfully sent photos of other people’s used sofas, as if that would convince us we were lucky to own such a uniquely wonky piece.

We later asked Dave why the refund offer vanished into thin air. His explanation? Fama wouldn’t accept the sofa as faulty, so they were shutting the case and washing their hands of it. Very on-brand.

From there, we went through our credit card to start a claim. Naturally, Taskers provided an invoice that looked like it was printed in a shed. Barclaycard required a proper letterheaded one, so back we went into Taskers’ maze of excuses:
“We can’t email.” “We’ve posted it.” “It’s on its way.” “Try waiting a few more days.”
I even offered to drive an hour to pick it up myself—but shocker, it was always “in the post.”

Four weeks of nonsense later, I finally got someone on the phone who clearly hadn’t been briefed on the Taskers Delay Script and emailed it instantly.

With that, we got independent inspectors in—who promptly confirmed the sofa belonged nowhere but the bin. And after ten long months, we finally received a full refund.

So yes, beware of this family-run cowboy outfit, whose idea of customer service appears to be:
✔ Take your money
✔ Deny everything
✔ Send blurry photos of strangers’ sofas
✔ Hope you give up

The only “characteristics” truly worth noting are Ivan’s. What a joker.
