I've used TDA for a long time. I give them 3 out of 5 stars because they are pretty much useless for speed trading, or anything under 5 minute trades. Then, their price execution for market orders can... See more

Terrible first experience with investing
I started an account to dip my toes into the water of trading and investing. Luckily, I only got a couple of stocks (<$1000 total). I wrote down my login information, but within a couple of months, I was no longer able to log in. I have been trying to fix the issue through customer service and the website for TWO YEARS. My account has been locked and cannot be recovered unless I send them a copy of my driver's license in the mail. What did I do wrong? Nothing as far as I can tell. Seems like they just wanted to pocket my money and make it too hard for me to get it back.
I'm very disappointed with TD…
I'm very disappointed with TD Ameritrade. I had an account with them 25 years ago, so got an account for my ex with them because I was really happy with them at the time. None of the things I liked about it are left. You have to buy and sell in the dark becasue their charts are terrible, can't even blow them up enough to look at. I don't know, finding someone else who will give her some real time information on what she is buying or selling.
I deposited many funds in TD…
I deposited many funds in TD Ameritrade. I have many accounts, so I decided to open a new bank account linked to Ameritrade. I deposited $20000 in this new bank account. Then I made a deposit of $10000 in Ameritrade. I didn't know that the new checking account have an extended hold on funds over $5000. Ameritrade didn't receive there $10000, I called 3 times to explain, but they restricted my account. I deposited another $1200, afterwards. The $10000 finally cleared, and also the $1200. My account is still restricted. They told me it would be unrestricted the next day. So I deposited another $4000 to Ameritrade. I tried to trade and my account is still restricted! I'm about to move all my positions and money to another brokerage account.
Let me help you understand these…
Let me help you understand these people. You entrust your money to them (they possess your money). You have a prospectus fund that states "ALL TRADES WILL BE FILLED THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY AFTER THE END OF TRADING SESSION." I knew that the Government is issuing a larger than expected interest rate than planned, so I placed a trade for the fund today, knowing that the fund would be issued AFTER tomorrow's close. Guess what, they decided to ramrod through the trade today, and will then pocket the difference in today's price and tomorrow's price. They are the nicest people you will ever be taken advantage of - and after all - THEY hold all of your money, so trust should be a paramount issue. The ONLY thing TD is concerned about is the money they can intercept. My wife and I will be liquidating all positions at TD as fast as financially feasible.
I was a TD Ameritrade customer for many…
I was a TD Ameritrade customer for many years. I did trading online, using the app. I strongly recommend not making the same mistake I did, trusting my savings to TD Ameritrade.
The trading platform is good and easy…
The trading platform is good and easy to use!
Go elsewhere
Began a transfer in January, still waiting...
They have made promises continuously, with no action.
I can not recommend them.
WARNING!!
WARNING!!! to buy or sell a trade. I was lied to twice which caused losses both times. I lost over around$3000, They sold out my action without receive my approbal - I had actions with large company and good representation on the market and they took decision to sold my action without approbal.. And TD Ameritrade's trade resolution desk is there to attempt to cover up theirfaults not to truthfully watch out for your interests too.. THUS, I will be getting back my money from TD Ameritrade. NEVER!!! Trust a TD Ameritrade broker. Listen to what they say, record it like I did and do your own due diligence. TD Ameritrade brokers are liars.
TD-Ameritrade "Internal Corruption"
As a U.S. Citizen: I too also currently own CHL shares in my Fidelity IRA Account. I understand, you can sell before 6-2-2022 or Fidelity will sell in your behalf. Without my permission, I owned CHL shares in my TD-Ameritrade Account that TD sold on 11-4-2021, as a "corporate merger" and I lost $(70,000).!!!!!!!! I do intend to file a complaint with the SEC concerning this transaction. Note: Fidelity would "not" allow me to "transfer" the CHL shares from TD-Ameritrade to my Fidelity Account. I hold both TD-Ameritrade and Fidelity equally responsible for my 2021 CHL loss of: $(70,000). I will most likely have a 2nd. loss when the Fidelity CHL shares are sold. The loss will not be a taxable event, since the CHL shares are in my Fidelity IRA Account, not subject to "Capital Gains" or Capital Losses" !!!!!!!!! Final Note: As a small investor, where's my "Government Bail-Out" for nearly $(80,000) in CHL losses, due to ongoing political indifference and international politics ???????????
I will be "Closing" my 20-year TD-Ameritrade Account, within the next few weeks.
NO RESPECT FOR NON PRO TRADERS
TD is very Unempathetic towards non-professional traders. ANY mistakes will be referred to a CIA type unit and you will be sanctioned. TD’s standard seems to be in interest of only attracting a niche demographic. Which by standard becomes discriminatory and disenfranchising. There’s a reason TD has 1 1/2 star review.
I can’t believe another company that is…
I can’t believe another company that is so attractive but so unfair. Again and again you pay commissions for everything alive. Let’s go for a drink and enjoy the company, rather than wasting time and money.
Don't trust TDA with your money
I tried to Rollover my 401K to a different company. The receiving company rejected the check, and sent it back to TD Ameritrade. It had my name and SSN on it, but not my TDA account number. TDA deposited it into another account holder's account (she had the same name, but obviously not the same SSN). My advice: Don't trust TD Ameritrade (or Charles Swaab, now that they have taken it over) with your money.
TD Ameritrade - dishonest broker
I use TD Ameritrade as my forex broker. Today they closed me out of a trade at a loss and claimed that the bid price dropped 25 pips lower than other brokers and charts are showing. If they hadn’t improperly closed the trade, I’d have made a profit. I called them and they said basically they have a right to set their own forex prices regardless of what other brokers do. All brokers vary by a couple of pips — BUT NOT 25!!! I’m filing a complaint with the CFTC and the NFA and switching brokers immediately. Don’t trust TD Ameritrade. They are a dishonest broker.
DO NOT
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, Leave investments or IRA in their hands if you have children or anyone else you plan on leaving anything too. Im the beneficiary of my Dads Estate and was informed today that there is a clause that lets them override any Last Will and Testament and can do what they please at there discretion. Funny how this happens when you try and move your money to another investor. Even though the Will says clearly that I was the beneficiary and anyone left out he left out intentionally. There's reasons for that being said because of family issues but they don't seem to acknowledge it because of there clause or potentially losing a client. If you want to throw your money away and put your family through hell getting what you left them than TD Ameritrade is the way to go. CROOKS
Putting toothpicks in my eyes hurts less
They give you a choice of the TD Ameritrade platform OR the thinkorswim app to trade with... However your account balance and info never matches!! And when you call them, they say "Oh yea, just go off of what the TD Ameritrade app says". Really??? Then why have ThinkorSwim??? The list goes on, but I'm sick and tired of the whole corrupt wall street gang f=ing the retail investors daily!
TD Ameritrade is absolutely the worst
TD Ameritrade is absolutely the worst! The employees have no knowledge about virtually anything and lied to you, you have to get a supervisor to actually get proper answers! Because I’ve requested supervisors multiple times they discontinued my account! Avoid find another platform they’re a disgrace as a financial institution with little oversight by management.
Ten Years with TD no issues - Now days everything is a mess !
With TDameritrade for 10 years with a small personal trading account without much activity. Things seemed fine. A TD service rep suggested my high net worth wife and I consider starting an advisory relationship with Mercer Advisors (partners with TD), who turned out to be excellent. Mercer uses TD to execute trades now on our Mercer account.... fine. Now that I am using my small personal TD account more often I am finding TD to be singularly inept at handling cash inflows and outflows linked to my bank. This has become more than just an inconvenience and led me to this Trustpilot website to warn others of the growing problems at TD. Looking for another broker now. Mercer Advisors is still a great financial advisory company and fully fiduciary as well. Wondering why they are still associated with TD, maybe if more high-net-worth Mercer clients complain about TD Mercer will end their association with TD.
BEWARE Can't get your funds in timely manner!
If I could give them below a one star I would. I had to wire money to complete a real estate transaction. They did not send the wire. Told me they had to wait for third party authorization, which they already had. No one contacted me to say the wire did not go out. Then they sent the wrong amount two days later. I found out from the law firm selling the property. It took 6 more days and 16 phone calls to get a wire transfer that was supposed to be sent out the same day. I almost lost the home I purchased in default.
I used to love this brokerage - it's the worst now
I used to love this brokerage, but lately they've gone downhill--steeply! Lately I'm having all kinds of problems moving money in and out of my account, including paying bills and completing money transfers. Now I have to call all the time and when I finally do get someone on the phone, they're some snotty kid whose big MBA dreams didn't work out and they always try to end the conversation with "we're a brokerage, not a bank!" in the snootiest tone possible. Well, you seem to forget one THING! It's MY MONEY and it DOES WHAT I SAY! If you don't want to be a "bank," then stop offering the same services that a bank does! And, I several accounts stretching to seven figures--but I can't do a simple transfer or bill pay because "you haven't traded that money yet." Well, guess what? If this place won't do simple things with my money, then they really don't need ANY of my money! This was never a problem until lately, so why it is now, I have no idea! So, this place needs to keep up with the "we're a brokerage, not a bank!" line until they're neither and just a sad memory in the annals of fiscal history.
