I would not recommend Teachable based on my experience. The platform has frequent technical issues and often does not work as expected. Customer support has been very poor, my emails were ignored, and I found it extremely difficult to get help when I needed it.
One major concern was unexpected charges. My subscription increased from $159 to $189 in the first month without clear advance notice. When I queried this, I was told it was due to the number of students in my school, yet only a few were actually enrolled in courses. I attempted to remove inactive students, but the delete function simply does not work. Despite following all the steps, typing “DELETE USERS,” and even providing four screen recordings and two screenshots showing the issue, I received no meaningful assistance. Instead, I was met with repeated requests for more information, followed by no replies at all.
I have been trying to resolve this issue for over two months, and the platform should not require constant customer support intervention for something as basic as deleting users.
Overall, I strongly advise against Teachable. My experience has been frustrating, time-consuming, and costly, and I cannot recommend this service to others. I believe their business model is built in a way that takes advantage of customers rather than supporting them.

Quick and easy to understand steps to set up and take courses. Help is available on request at every step, if needed. Quick and helpful responses to questions and emails.

With Ashleigh's help, things are going well; she's very helpful and knowledgeable. The only roadblock is the fairly long response time likely due to staff shortage + my own difficulty navigating this new tool. I didn't know ahead of time that I would need a webpage connection to receive payments from students... I don't have one so will have to create something for that requirement.
I like this well designed platform that was recommended by my teacher who uses a higher plan, Bedhanya.teachable.

Overall, Teachable is very difficult to access when support is needed. Account was closed without prior warning and it took weeks to have our account reactivated. No explanation was given, but we missed out on important sales.

Teachable is a good place to host courses, but there are lots of bugs that have remained unresolved for years (buttons not working automatically on sales pages despite being setup correctly, courses randomly locking, etc) and the support is really slow. Sometimes, I won't even receive a response and, if I do, it is usually at least a day later if not more. And not often very helpful.
It's easy to use and generally works well otherwise.

Update for Mary (Teachable) from the reply I got: I messaged you about 5 times (support team, billing team, PMs/researchers I had access to due to actively participating in user feedback) when you announced your absurd plan change that wasn't received well by anyone. You did nothing but stood behind your decision of 25 products for $139/month. I already wasted 2 months reworking my entire business to work around your new limitations, I have no desire voicing my frustrations again to a 5th person as your company policy is: milking customers after luring them into yearly subscriptions that promise one thing (50 products PER product type), then lower those promises (25 products TOTAL, if you want more = well pay $200 more from now on) when you rework your pricing plans to maximize profits once a customer is locked into your ecosystem and has already built a dependency on your platform; all while working almost nothing on delivering actual new value to justify absurd price hikes and plan changes. I still have unanswered support tickets from December 2024. Just saying.
It's one of those companies that lure you with marketing and features and then decides to ruin your business plan completely by removing those features or changing their pricing plans so they milk you as much as they can as now you've build your entire business around them and it's too hard to switch. For example, they changed their plans recently from having certain amount of products per product type into 25 products TOTAL to be in a similarly priced tier. Instead of me having 50 products per product type available, I was forced into a 100 products total tier which was MORE expensive. Nothing new, no valuable benefits added, just reworked the pricing to force you into a higher tier. Therefore, the plan they signed me up on and I've built my entire business around was switched on a whim to a ridiculously priced new tier. I have spent months reworking my email marketing automations, products, and overall offer to go back to a lower priced tier (still higher than what I paid up until that point, but at least manageable). I was forced to rethink my entire strategy, rework products, rework sales funnels, and slow down on production of new teaching materials for students because they are a company that doesn't innovate or improve experiences, they just up their pricing every 2 years and look for ways to milk you. It was rushed since I only had a few months to do it or switch to a fully new platform, so this was the best I could have done but I am actively looking into avoiding the next year's payment by switching to something else. Horrible. UX is laughable, design is ugly, their community feature sucks (2003 forums worked better), they don't innovate, they are buggy, every month I lose sales because of checkout UX issues, their support is becoming worse and worse, and every time I have to talk to them - I am just disappointed again. Avoid. If you plan to run an online course type of business - start with more reliable companies that actually care and improve with time. In 4 years, I've seen nothing but a lazy corporate company milking its customers and ruining trust. The only useful thing they've added that actually delivers on its promise are AI generated transcriptions for subtitles and translations. Fantastic, useful, time-saving. Everything else is done by a team of amateurs (landing page reworks, minor UI changes) or is worth laughing at (community). I reported that their UI has a weird photo stretching setting which makes my course covers look unprofessional (since they stretch as the screen resizes, they don't "fit" which any normal developer would do) and it still hasn't been fixed after months. So I had to have my dev teammate come in and fix it with custom code in 2 minutes. 2 minute fix for something that makes you, as a school/educator/businessman look like an amateurish brand is something they are ok with ignoring for months. That's the brand you'd work with if you go with them. VAT collection is the only true benefit this company has over competitors.

With easy-to-monitor progress notifications and charts, I can see how far my students are in the course immediately on the homepage. Makes the housekeeping side of class much easier for me. I love making changes live if I catch an error, and the seamless integration of media like videos and images is stellar.

I’ve been using the Teachable platform for many years to deliver my online courses, and I’d like to begin by saying how much I appreciate the work you’ve done. In many aspects, I find Teachable to be an excellent and user-friendly platform—especially for someone like me who doesn’t have a strong IT background. Having an intuitive admin panel that allows non-technical users to navigate and manage their content with ease is incredibly valuable.
That said, there is one area where I believe Teachable still has room for improvement: content protection and course security. As a course creator, my biggest concern is unauthorized access due to password sharing. Unfortunately, there are currently no built-in tools to track IP addresses, limit access per user, or implement additional plugins that could enhance the security of my content.
I truly believe this is an important feature to consider adding to the platform. As Teachable continues to grow, ensuring that educators can protect their intellectual property should be a priority.
Thank you again for your amazing work—and I hope you’ll consider this feedback as you continue improving the platform.

At first, I was confused by the recent changes in the support system, and I found it a little frustrating that many FAQ articles kept appearing. However, once I moved into free conversation with the AI chat, I was able to communicate smoothly and get helpful guidance.
When the issue required human support, the transition was seamless. I received clear and accurate assistance from Jimmy within about 24 hours, which I found very timely and satisfying. Overall, I am highly satisfied with both the speed and the quality of support provided through the new system.

I am just starting, but I am loving it. With Teachable and ChatGPT, I just started to see my dream become a reality. My course is fully ready and took only 3 days to create because I have had my ministry/business hybrid business model blueprint brewing for decades, but now I had help articulating and developing it. I am excited to see how this all comes together! I love Teachable!

this was canceled this was a 7 day trial yet i was charged over $800 and it's not what i thought it was. The AI gives you unclear directions on how to cancel. An email was suppose to come with the option to cancel.

Uh! US tax nightmare, I so regret using Teachable, Im in the UK, I apparently now owe tax and my tax ID has been rejected by the US. I'm trying to rectify it on teachable, and find out whats wrong, but the site is so clunky. I've used other american sites to teach on, never had a problem, but is haunting me for months and I honestly wish I never used it.

I have been using Teachable for less than three years, and my experience has not been positive. I did not like the $30 increase in the subscription price (from $159 to $189 per MONTH) without getting anything more—in fact, much less: from 50 available courses, I now only have 25, and the customer service, which was already poor from the beginning, has gotten even worse. If I could, I would switch platforms immediately, but with several students paying a monthly or annual subscription for my courses, transitioning is not easy. I will conclude by saying that the level of customization is truly nonexistent. Teachable was recommended to me in a marketing course I took in the past because they were affiliated, but I do not recommend it to anyone. Truly an outdated platform with terrible and unprofessional customer service.

Avoid. Decided to give teachable a go, after a month we had 100s of clients enrolled, and the only payment processor they use is stripe, so if stripe goes down for what ever reason then teachable can’t do anything about it. Stripe decided to no longer offer me their services (for no reason giving just says it’s a risk to them) so I have now had to switch 100s of members over to a new platform and lost almost 50% of my customers because of this. Thanks teachable. No idea why a platform so big can’t create their own payment gateway.
