I bought a folding shower seat and upgraded to heavy duty brackets for strength. Build quality seemed excellent but then turned out not so much when installed (brackets only, seat itself is fine). I followed install instructions exactly but folding mechanism binds significantly when trying to collapse the seat against the wall. I am very experienced and the most careful person I know -- I was extremely careful when marking and drilling the holes, and the fact that screws went in (with no binding on the screws) is evidence that I did everything right drilling the holes. After realizing the binding/friction in the final result I loosened the screws as indicated in the instructions, but to no resolution of the issue. Loosening the screws slightly per the instructions would have been a good answer if there was enough slack in the bracket to allow adequate adjustment. Given that (1) the seat assembly mounted easily with no binding on the screws and (2) loosening the screws did nothing, this means the tolerances are too tight for either (1) size of the mounting holes in the brackets or (2) bracket assembly itself -- or both. I'm hoping the mechanism will loosen over time, but for the $ of this purchase ($469 before tax and shipping), the result is certainly disappointing. I'm sure your engineers are perfectionists, which is fundamentally a good thing -- however, it's very clear that tolerances are simply too tight to allow for adequate adjustment. Ideally there s/b slight allowance for horizontal adjustment -- i.e. slightly extra space left-to-right. The fact that I loosened the screws but nothing improved is proof that tolerance is too tight on the bracket mechanism and/or mounting holes (note that the screws lined-up and are NOT going to move at all once installed). The easiest fix for this would be to drill the mounting holes in the brackets very slightly larger -- this would allow for needed adjustment. This is a quality control issue and needs to be fixed.
UPDATE 1/14/26 AFTER FINAL INSTALL: Final rating 4 stars – deducting 1 star due to install problems related to instructions that need to be improved, ½ star deduct due to closed position retention clips too tight + inconsistent tension (one bracket vs. the other), and ½ star add-back since this is officially the only thing ever that I have installed where the screws provided were actually appropriate for the job. Install problem: 2 mounting holes were initially drilled in the wrong place causing unexpected and significant bracket friction – this resulted from inaccurate hole indications while marking directly from the brackets in the OPEN position (per the instructions). The curve ball here is that marking the holes in this manner (directly from the brackets in the open position) is intuitively the best approach if you can do it. However, the surprising result was that hole markings for the two lower pairs of holes were unknowingly misplaced (middle holes off by ~0.75mm, lower holes off by ~1.5mm). In retrospect, this possibility is understandable due to necessary play in the bracket mechanisms; at time of install, though, the result was certainly a surprise – when you are marking directly from the brackets you expect hole positions to be perfect. Bottom line: In the final analysis, the amount of play in the brackets is fine. However, instructions need to be modified for marking holes. Specifically, in Step 4 which describes marking directly from brackets, a sentence s/b added which says “Even if marking directly from the brackets, verify that the distance between markings for each pair of holes matches the same distance between holes in the brackets themselves when the brackets in the CLOSED position – this simple check would have eliminated the problems I had. Additional minor point: Spring clips that retain the seat in the closed position were too tight + inconsistent tension between the two brackets. I had to carefully beat on those clips to loosen them up to an acceptable (and consistent) level. The retention clips are nice, but the reality is they don’t have to be very tight since you’re not fighting gravity at all. Summary: After successfully filling and re-drilling the 2 lower holes on one side + loosening retention clip tension, the install was finally a success and is a notable improvement to our shower. Some basic improvements to instructions and retention clips should yield the same result for others, but without the problems I had.

Very happy with my custom mat. The wood looks a bit dry and not seasoned as the pics on site show. I had to order the oil and pay shipping again which irked me. I think if you pay $500 for a mat and wait 7 weeks, a sample of oil would be included. Since I do love the mat, I secretly made a template of my daughter’s shower for a gift, but this time included the oil in her order.
