Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE

Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE! The only way to raise a support ticket apparently is via a web link that is DENYING me access. I am being asked to authenticate my account and I am not receiving any codes and it is impossible to speak to anyone. I can't even find a complaints email address hence the review. I am steaming. Absolutely steaming. I am losing business over this, but it is getting to the point I would rather lose business than work with a Microsoft product.

Overall works well, but has some extremely annoying little quirks.

I work as a U.S. government contractor and the agency I'm affiliated with uses Teams. I'd provide feedback through that route but that mechanism internal to the app has been disabled by the organization, so I will rant here.

First, the good.

Overall, the client works well. Chats are smooth and easy to organize in the view. Making and joining calls is pretty effortless and consistent barring network or other glitches. Webcam and audio are generally reliable and clear with only the rare robot voice. Reactions can be handy and fun in meetings, as can the GIFs (which seem to generally be curated to be work safe, which is a big plus).

Now, the annoying, in decreasing order of priority.

I am constantly mildly infuriated by the fact that Teams overrides my explicit selection for STATUS. If I select Available, I am that until I choose otherwise! There's a bit of a nuance to this in that this particular issue seems to recur once in a while, then go away. I've been a software developer, and there's a phenomenon where old bugs can, through carelessness or ineptitude, resurface when old code gets merged into new. Thus, I might go months without this niggling issue, then suddenly after a nightly or weekend update, it resurfaces to annoy me yet again.

Next, automatically MUTING my microphone. No, do NOT do this, Teams! I have a headset with a physical, discrete mute button I can toggle at will. If I'm overlooking a setting to quash this particular annoyance, I'm all ears, but so far as I know this is an annoying default which seems to correlate with how many people are in the meeting I'm about to join. Past that threshold I don't need you to be my chaperone and muzzle me as I walk into meetings, thank you very much.

That's about it. For its various annoyances, Teams does serve well for enterprise-level comms.

LOST MY NUMBER

LOST MY NUMBER - I have the number on advertising and have spent a lot of money and now they tell me its a dedicated conference number and tehy can not change back to a normal number.
They will not show me where I requested the change, I did not ask for it to change and these are TERRIBLE at helping me - I am weeks trying to get my main number back andno further on.

Doer of all, master of none

Teams has made a number of changes but are not informing clients of the changes and not responding quickly enough to user feedback. It is a good tool but there are many individual tools that do better. Task cards are good but Trello is more effective, chats are good but WhatsApp et al are better. It is a doer of all but master of none.

WORST APP EVER

I subscribed for the business version and I was not able to log in with my email, nor was I able to even register with my email because my only option was .onmicrosoft.com ?! When I use my downloaded app it constantly sends me to teams web, asks me to register, to sign in, sign up etc. Interface is horrible, instructions on the PAID Office 365 page are not user friendly and customer support is a total 0.

I would rather use even Skype for online meetings instead of this frustrating and time-wasting crap...

Cancelling of Microsoft Teams Essential

How can a company like Microsoft be allowed to treat its customers in this way. To stop subscription from Microsoft Teams essential is simply impossible. I log on to my Microsoft account here is nothing about the Teams I have signed into. Then I try to use the guidance from Microsoft, here I have to log in, but can not use my Microsoft login and not my email, as this is not valid (all though Microsoft has written to me, using this mail, reminding me that they will withdraw the money from my account). Also the info on the "order confirmation" from Microsoft can not be used ???
I will consider this theft at daylight and they are not even ashamed of doing so !!!

Microsoft Teams

What a excrement interface to use for holding meetings. Would quite frankly use any other platform if my it was not compulsory. I am a Training Facilitator and this programme makes life so difficult, it gives you the option to have additional notes on the side, but what is the use of the notes on the side if you can not put in any notes. Secondly they promote that teams can work with a pointer function, this is not true however as the pointer works perfectly on your side but your students/attendees cant see where the pointer is hovering. Again this makes life difficult. Fix this please. Definitely raising the point to use another interface to conduct our meetings

New version is bad

New version is bad. Constantly crash in iOS if dragging documents into it or in middle of call. Why is Microsoft breaking a successful product?

Just terrible.

Just terrible.
I don't know where to start.
It does not handle well special characters, ok. There is a limit in the name of characters which seems to take into account the path, in other words, the deeper the directory, the shorter the filename.
The app is broken. People at the helpdesk are doing their best but solutions are more hacks than actual solutions.

Microsoft Teams: A Love Story

Dear Mr Gates,

I'm compelled to express my appreciation for your cloud-based team collaboration software. While Microsoft Teams offers a commendable user experience, it's not merely its functionality that prompts this review. You see, it is within the digital confines of your platform that I encountered something far more profound: the love of my life.

I am well aware that matchmaking isn't the intended purpose of your software. Nevertheless, I'd like to share with you our story—a love story.

It all began over three years ago, amid the unprecedented times when people were using the phrase, ‘unprecedented times’. I resided in Melbourne, while KK—at first just initials in a circle before her camera flickered to life—called Sydney home. We were mere co-workers, separated by 1,223 kilometers and a screen, yet to realize the impending twist of fate scheduled into our calendars as a 2:30 pm Microsoft Teams meeting.

Let me spare you mundane details and fast-forward through the work chapter of this story. After all, most love stories don't entail brainstorming, timesheets, or corporate jargon like 'Let's circle back to that'. I wouldn't watch that movie — even if Timothee Chalamet and Florence Pugh starred in the title roles. After several months and countless Team calls, we finally wrapped up our project, and KK and I were officially acquaintances, on the verge of friendship, perhaps even something more. Let's circle back to that.

In retrospect, it might have been the abundance of heart emoji reactions generously dispersed in our group chats, but KK and I both felt there was something between us. To investigate what that 'something' was, one fateful evening, as the status icons on Teams glowed in synchronous online presence, I seized the moment with a simple message: "What's for dinner?"

It wasn't a mere culinary inquiry, as you might have guessed. It was a gesture of connection, laden with unspoken meaning—an invitation to explore the depths of our shared interests: creatively, film, humour, music, dinner. Our nightly ritual of virtual banter soon transcended the confines of Teams, migrating to Instagram, text messages, and late-night conversations. With each exchange, the distance between us melted away, paving the way for a long-awaited rendezvous IRL—now, the world was finally reopening. FYI, the answer to the question was a burrito.

I vividly recall the first time I saw her in person—her beauty was no longer confined to 180-pixel resolution. I remember her smile, the subtle dimple in her left cheek, and the way she leapt out of the Uber and dashed towards me. In this moment, she ceased to be KK and became Katie. Now, this is the part of the movie where music would swell. Timothee and Florence would rush to each other in slow motion—it would probably be raining.

Yet, in my recollection of that moment, no soundtrack played, and the weather, if memory serves, was fair. However, these details proved inconsequential as we embraced each other as if time stood still. We were rendered speechless, as if still fumbling for the unmute button. Until, in unison, we uttered our first words, not through a speaker, but face-to-face, about legs.
"You've got legs! You've got legs!" we shouted to each other with glee. To clarify, we had yet to see each other's lower halves below our laptop screens.

Yes, we both had legs. Legs that lightly brushed against each other's beneath the table while we indulged in orange wine and exchanged stories on that first encounter. Legs that would go on to journey between cities for a year before finding their cozy place intertwined on the couch—hers draped over mine—where we shared laughter over LOST reruns, and tea sipped in a place we both called home. Legs, we joked that if we got married, we would walk down the aisle to the Microsoft Team call music.

Today, as we celebrate our three-year anniversary, I am reminded of the serendipitous chain of events that led me to her—to us. I extend my gratitude for your platform, which unknowingly became the catalyst for our love.

Anyway, that's my review of Microsoft Teams. Your company's mission statement is to empower every individual and every organisation on earth to accomplish more. What's more of an accomplishment than love?

5 stars.

Crap

It was mediocre, now it is crap.
There are more times that it is stuck or crashes that you can use it for work.
8 out of 10 times, it fails to deliver screenshots or images.

Avoid it.

New teams is awful and doesn't work
Microsoft have forced me to download new teams. Now all my chats have disappeared, I can't find any contacts from the companies I regularly work with. Microsoft help and complaints is non-existent as usual. I hate microsoft, they are so useless.

The most unfriendly app for virtual…

The most unfriendly app for virtual meetings. It blows my mind how the worlds biggest tech company can get it so wrong.
As with most tech operations you could put this down to user error, but when the same user can navigate every other platform with ease and without bugs, glitches or any training, then it comes back to the app provider.
One of the most infuriating things across not just Teams but all Microsoft apps is the "You cannot sign in using a work or school account".
Consistently and hugely disappointed for years - to the point where I write a review which I never do.
Use anyone else and you will be better off.
