As soon as I entered the clinic my experience was superb. The dentist is highly skilled who performed my teeth whitening treatment. Got some interesting tips to take care of my oral health from the dentist. Highly recommended!

Two stars for their customer service

Two stars for their customer service, not their dental work; I was en route to my appointment and my tube station got suddenly shut down. The train I was on was ordered to reverse, and all the following trains were cancelled. I ended up being one of thousands of other commuters whose journeys were severely disrupted. I was obviously going to be late for my appointment, so I called to discuss my options with them. They refused to apply my deposit to a rescheduled appointment. This was within their rights, as they considered my situation a ‘cancelled’ appointment- however, they should have taken extenuating circumstances into consideration, especially as they require a massive 35% deposit. Missing my appointment was completely out of my control, and they showed no sympathy. It was a costly way to learn a lesson in not using this company again.

There is a big catch - BE AWARE

I opted in and chose Enlighten as my teeth whitening option based on the reviews.

Cost: My dental practice told me the results last for up to three years - which is better than the Philips zoom - so this was the selling point to me. I never did teeth whitening before. It was sold to me by Enlighten and the dentist practice that the mouth mould has to be done by Enlighten and that is why it is expensive. This was the first lie, I had a friend who done a different form of teeth whitening and they received a very similar mouth mould. The teeth whitening treatment was half the price. I believe its the same lab that does the mould anyway - this is my guess. So, my take on cost is that it is very expensive.

Results - It was good and B1 shade reached. However, I noticed that Enlighten keep telling you can drink your coffee and tea regularly while whitening. When I was at the dentist doing my last treatment, I was told not to have to much coffee or tea in the next three weeks after treatment because it will affect the results - I was limited to having max of two coffees a day for best results. It was recommended to maintain best results, I would need to buy top up syringes and use some of the gel once a month over night. I asked them would it still be needed even if I brush my teeth regularly, I was told yes. I do brush my teeth three times a day so you all know. A month after the whitening the shade started to dim with only one to two coffees a day. So I contacted my dentist to asking for the cost of the syringe for top up, and here is the catch.

The Catch: This is where you will be ripped off. Enlighten only sells the syringes through dental practices. Enlighten advertise the cost of each syringe for top up between £50-£70. Please see attached a photo of their social media account on Instagram taken on the 4th of March 2021. When I called my dental practice, they told me I can get one syringe (blue one as shown in the photo) for £90. When I challenged them on what Enlighten had told me they told me they panicked and reduced the price to £75. This clearly indicated that practices just want to charge you as much as they can to rip you off. Enlighten does little to help with this either. Keep reading.

Enlighten's Response: When I contacted Enlighten to ask to buy a top up syringe as I did the treatment already. They told me professional teeth whitening has to be done through a dentist. I said I did my whitening, I just need a top up - Enlighten said this also must be bought from a dentist. When I asked about price brackets I was told dentists can basically charge what they want for the top up syringe - for example Harley Street dental practices can charge between £100 - £200 per syringe. I challenged Enlighten and told them why do you advertise the price of the syringe on your social media account if you let dental practices rip customers off and charge them whatever they want. I also asked them how can they as a provider not set a price bracket for such a thing - their response that this is only for guidance. How can that be guidance if dentists can charge whatever they want and rip customers off! Enlighten is the supplier after all and as a big brand, can set up a price bracket, no? You do not see Apple Iphones selling at John Lewis for double the price of it being sold at Apple store - even on high demand. Also, all what I was asking for was the top up syringe after I have done my whitening. I understand dentists might charge different price for the treatment depending on location and dentist experience, but the price for the top up syringe should remain the same, as it is the same syringe for everyone and its a home treatment not needing an experienced dentist there.

This is my experience, be careful everyone before buying Enlighten. I hope this will help you as much as you can with your choice. I personally would go for a cheaper option like Philips Zoom where the results are the same but last up to two year (you will need top up too) you will pay a lot less - 70% less the cost of Enlighten.
